[MOC] 3T Sport Sedan - Finished
LvdH replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looks great! Perhaps I'll build it. It would be a nice change from the expensive 1:8 cars I've been building. Could you send me the LDD file? I'd like to try some colour combinations myself.- 46 replies

Technic 2019 Set Discussion
LvdH replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
42056 has no stickers on the arches. As far as I know LEGO never puts stickers on parts with round shapes, because they are near impossible to apply unless you have cuts in them. -
Technic 2019 Set Discussion
LvdH replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sheepo didn't sell anything to the Chinese. Two of his designs were stolen, and I don’t think he was very happy about it. And well, pretty much all of LEGO’s designs are stolen anyway so might as well fire everyone -
I already finished it 2 days ago but I’ve been hesitating whether to post my pictures or not because I’ve had my pictures stolen before for adverts on certain sites. But here’s my bricksafe folder. I built it mostly in original colours; blue brakes, black 3L pins and a few black axle pins. In the pictures the tail light is trans orange but I’ve changed that already. https://bricksafe.com/pages/LvdH/collection/mclaren-p1-by-brunojj1# Some final thoughts: Truly a wonderful moc to look at. I’ve been playing with it turning all the knobs back and forth endlessly, and I must say despite them being slow they are a very nice mechanical touch which makes me forgive the lack of a gearbox. I am also surprised how well the functions all work. I’ve only built a couple cars that worked without needing to tweak anything. I think this is may be new favourite... Some criticism too: The hood opening mechanism is a bit awkward, especially keeping it open (which you need to do quite a bit if you want to operate the functions). The suspension complaint is still here, though much less than before. The engine cover was difficult to build, I had issues putting some parts together and it’s all under stress as well. Also made a small building error there with the U-joint sub-assembly. I’ve also had the tan pin at the door hinge go out of the 15100 part a few times which isn’t the easiest to fix.

I’m currently building this, and so far I am very happy with this model. I’ve finished the monocoque + the rear and a bit of the side/rear bodywork. I have no idea how the spoiler works on the real thing but it’s quite an interesting mechanism. Some minor criticism so far: A few axles with stop are pretty much stuck in a frame. The adjustable suspension has some backlash, when it’s lowered the axle kind of acts as a torsion bar. Otherwise very nice build..

Very impressive job at reverse engineering this masterpiece, and some spectacular photos to go along with it -
General Part Discussion

I noticed that part on Bricks and pieces a while ago, not for sale, wondering if it was used in a set. Great piece to have. The ridged one is kind of rare.- 5,507 replies

I've seen several adverts of different sets with the build all wrong. The Aventador and One:1 are the biggest ones. None of the photos from them (they actually stole my photo of my LEGO Aventador....) look right. But I don't think it is going to look like that when people actually know how to follow instructions. I don't have any of these kits, but I don't think the parts are that much different to the extent where the build is totally different.

I agree with Erik. Wouldn’t it be easier to encourage people to buy the instructions instead of a crowdfunding? Then it is a win-win for both us and Bruno. I’m not sure if watermarking every page works because I am pretty sure they make their own instructions. But it’s worth a try for future MOC’ers Wishful thinking here.... I think they wouldn’t be a problem if they were parts only. No instructions, no brand, no box. Just parts. That way the need to give the designer their money on instructions, and the people who buy the parts kit would spend a little less. By the way, I think this should go in a non-specific theme forum. This affects way more designers than just Technic.

42083 - Bugatti Chiron
LvdH replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I guess this was done so people don’t use a 15L liftarm instead of 13L. Actually, there aren’t any 13L liftarms in black in this set... -

If that is actually true, it looks like a very good lineup. Could anyone translate the other sets? -
[MOC] Dakar Truck
LvdH replied to Lucio Switch's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I’ve seen this model in person yesterday. Helped the test builder with a few panels. It’s a very impressive build, and so much bigger than pictures show... Here it is next to my Sheepo Mustang. -

Both 42056 and 42083 are excellent sets. Expensive, but amazing looking and an amazing build experience. -

That is something unique! Very cool. -
@ndm1306 I’m not sure if that’s the fairest thing to do, given the fact that a lot of this MOC was built by PvdB, which was a MOC with paid instructions. Not that I wouldn’t like instructions, of course, if PvdB doesn’t mind.

Technic 2018 Set Discussion

And the Bugatti has 3599, and 4 pages. I think it has to do with the amount of unique pieces, and the size of some pieces (bigger parts require more space).
