Cavegod UCS AT-AT Instructions | "Walker Assault"
Cjd223 replied to Cjd223's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This would work for the parts that have been added, but it wouldn't show which parts were subtracted or modified to a different piece or color. For example 3794b has been replaced with 15573, this method would show the "X" amount of 15573 were added that you need to buy, but if you had 3794b for the current build, it would not translate properly.- 264 replies

Cavegod UCS AT-AT Instructions | "Walker Assault"
Cjd223 replied to Cjd223's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This is an interesting idea for sure. I can look into different options for this, right off the bat I can think of; 1) Using a rebrickable account to log the bricks you already have. The site will then look at the updated parts list and give you a list for everything that you're missing. 2) Using a Bricklink wanted list with the updated parts list in the "Have" column. This would accomplish the same thing as the first option, but would be directly on bricklink vs rebrickable. I'm not sure there is a way to automatically give out the list of what's changed because everyone with partially filled inventories has a different set of pieces. It would probably be most efficient to log the parts you have directly in a Rebrickable account or a Bricklink inventory. This is kind of a pain I understand (currently having sorted and logged over 21,000 pieces so far of my own inventory), but I'm not sure there is an immediate workaround for it. If something else comes to mind I'll throw the idea out there.- 264 replies

Cavegod UCS AT-AT Instructions | "Walker Assault"
Cjd223 replied to Cjd223's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Some great news! The body has been completed, which means a bulk of the remaster is now complete. There is not a whole lot left to do besides verifying the parts list with the manual, stitching together pages, and a few graphic design things to put into place. But the hard parts are done! After this I'm going to design the base, do a quick test build, and get the manual ready for an official release. Reminder: If you previously purchased the manual you will receive the updated copy for free. I couldn't help myself and had to check out how the modifications and part substitutions worked out. After checking the bricklink data for the current model and updated version, I managed to drop the price point to around 16 cents per piece! Given that the rate at what the new UCS Star Destroyer is priced at 14.6 cents per piece, I'm happy with the price result. For those keeping track, this would shave ~$450 off the current parts list!- 264 replies

Cavegod UCS AT-AT Instructions | "Walker Assault"
Cjd223 replied to Cjd223's topic in LEGO Star Wars
A quick update for everyone: The redesigned legs have just been completed in compliance with @EdBorg's design. The only things remaining are corrections/mods to the body, and part substitutions for a less expensive build. I also have yet to start the base design, that will be completed after the AT-AT portions are complete. Almost there. If I had to put a date on it, the new manual should be ready to go within a few weeks, and then a test build/video/review conducted by myself should take an additional week or two. My hopes are to get it distributed to everyone who previously purchased the original manual some time between the end of July and the middle of August.- 264 replies

Cavegod UCS AT-AT Instructions | "Walker Assault"
Cjd223 replied to Cjd223's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Some news for everyone, I am currently working on remastering the AT-AT instruction manual. A lot of work has been completed aside from the legs and body. A few final things I could use some info/help with are as followed: @EdBorg's Leg Design. I saw the redesigned technic legs done by MajorBricks, which shows the design. I tried to get in touch with Edborg but have not gotten a response. I'm curious about the differences between the two designs and which works better. In the case that it is Edborg's, it would be amazing if someone could help me get a hold of either Edborg or the plans. Has anyone had much trouble with the body or panels? Also interested in any mods done to the main body to make it sturdier. I see some builders have been able to really reinforce it to make it easier to hold while attaching legs. I've also read about certain parts that help the panels stay together in the past, but I cannot seem to find or remember them in specific (Something about the 3298 slopes maybe?). I know there are issues with the step order of some of the body assembly, this will be addressed in the remaster. A Base. I am planning on designing a base for the model as a separate manual booklet included with the AT-AT. I know a lot of builders have had trouble with positioning the feet and all conclude that placing them on studs makes a big difference. The base will likely include guidelines for placing the feet on flat plates, as well as an elaborate Hoth surface design for those who want a really polished model display. Of course, this does mean the legs need to be placed in a specific way. If anyone has details about the spacing between all of the feet it would be incredibly helpful. Right now I've been digging through photos and trying to count minuscule studs. Neck and head mods. I've seen the redesigned neck which includes the technic hinge to make the head more posable as well as the covering for the back of the head, I am planning to include it in the remaster. And of course I am going to dig through the parts list and modify parts to make the model more affordable. Of course, anyone who previously purchased the manual will be given the updated version and the base/display designs. If anyone has anything to add to these I'm all ears. Much easier to make necessary changes now and include them all in one update.- 264 replies

Yes they will! This is great thank you Martin!

5k out of the 12k. I had to restart the manual from scratch so far I’ve re-done 5k of the parts at this point.

Hi. Regarding the updates on the Sandcrawler manual, they are in progress, but far from complete. In short the laptop I made the instructions on crashed and I was unable to save the files, which means starting from scratch again. I am also working on updates for the AT-AT manual, which are much less daunting and require only some reordering of steps in the body, redesigning the legs to include an inner technic structure, and redesigning some of the pages of the manual. This will be done before the Sandcrawler. Progress may seem slow as I've been talking about these updates for quite some time, but there's a lot of different Lego projects that I'm working on right now, but rest assured they will get done in the future. I'm also going to test build the Sandcrawler again after redesigning the manual. My hopes are that it is done before the end of this year, but that all depends on how long it takes to redesign the manual. The original design took 3-4 months if I remember correctly, but this time around my time is a little bit split up between projects as I mentioned before. The good news though, and there is some here, is that the bottom section of the manual is complete along witha portion of the upper section. The current progress is 5,159 pieces into the new manual, which is a little bit less than halfway. Again, my hopes are to complete it by the end of this year at the worst. Something that would be incredibly helpful would be a rundown of issues users have had with the current pdf manual. If you could either comment the problems or PM me, that would be fantastic. I have been tracking back through the thread to get an overview of what issues have popped up, but direct help from other builders would be incredibly helpful. Including a page number would be great if possible too. Hope this helps.

I've been planning to start this project at some point, and the current quarantine situation finally got me to break ground. Much like some tables you may have seen of Docking Bay 327 and the UCS Milennium Falcon, I am making a table that will be set on a desert planet. My early intentions are to do Jakku but I may shift to Tatooine since it allows for a small city to be built. If I do follow through with a Jakku theme, my plan is to add either a UCS Millennium Falcon or a crashed Star Destroyer component in minifig scale as the main feature in the sand. The table is going be rather large, but it matches the size of a table I already have which this will take the place of. It will consist of 8 large 48x48 baseplates. Alright, enough introduction. I decided to test out a concept for a sand texture that will hopefully set the basis for the rest of the MOC. I was really heavily inspired by this MOC by the youtuber First Order Lego: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_oB2FMsI98 Here is a look at what I was able to put together on a single 48x48 baseplate: Sorry Anakin, lots of sand. I really like how it came out but I think it needs a bit more variation in height and less of a flat look. I suppose that depends on whether or not I decide to go with Jakku or Tatooine. More to follow when I start to branch out the MOC, but for now this is where I'm at.

This is really nice! The buildings came out great, I really like how you used stacked plates and textured bricks to create the layering effect. If I had to offer a piece of constructive criticism it would be the way the arch is connected. It sort of seems like it was propped down there on the plate, perhaps a little bit more detail in the area where it connects to the baseplate would solve it. I'm thinking some blending in the form of rocks piling up from the ground onto the bottom of the arch supports.

Great work! Mosaics are great when you zoom in and see how all of the "random" colors contribute to weathering, shadows and glows. This one of Boba Fett is awesome, but I'm a bit confused on the dimensions. You say it's 48x48 but it doesn't appear to be square in shape..?

This is an awesome build! I agree with the previous notes from others that the doors are a magnificent design. I like the small touches you put into this model such as the 20th anniversary sticker! I'm not sure how I haven't seen all of your MOCs before but they're excellent. You have a very distinct design that I'm sure would look awesome putting them together into a skyline type of display.

SB00301 B-PROJECT (MOC Resistance Bomber UCS)

Great to hear you're alright in Italy! Look forward to your always exceptional work! -
This is a nice midi-scale model of The Ghost & Phantom! I really like the graphic design on the two pictures you posted, unique and very high quality. I do agree with @Kristof about seeing the model physically built. It not only looks better in real brick but also goes to show that the model is buildable (which I'm sure your's is but some photos help).

Among other things, while currently quarantining I was able to catch up on some Lego items and start on an exciting new project (More on that to come later). I also put together a time-lapse and review of Cavegod's GR-75 Rebel Transport, you can take a look at them here: Hopefully this gives some better insight to the model as well as some new angles. Fun, long build, and certainly looks great on display

This guy is a bonafide scrub. I’ve dealt with him for at least 3 years. The best I’ve ever done was get them to take it down only to find it up again within a month. I like the idea of leaving bad reviews, that would be the cruelest way to gradually diminish their sales for a long-term future

This is a really neat MOC, easily identified it with the Mandalorian. Nice work!

33 hours of building later and it is complete! The build was very simple to follow, just took a long time to locate certain parts at times which drastically increased the build time. I did end up making a modification to one section to add extra bracing, but the overall model is very sturdy. I was a bit nervous when I first flipped it over on to the two stands, but it didn't budge and the stands slide perfectly at the proper angle. I am going to do an in-depth review of the model in the next week or two, but for now here are some images of the model both while being built and completed:

6,591/6,591, it is building time! I organized my parts very similar to how @drdavewatford organized his AT-AT parts, described here on his blog: http://gimmelego.blogspot.com/2012/08/building-perfect-beast-anatomy-of-at-at.html since the amount of pieces are very similar. Granted, I needed a few extra bins because I had smaller ones, but I really like how he organized his parts and have done it before for large models such as Anio's Venator. Here is what I am going to be digging through for the next who knows how long... see you all on the other side!

This is a very nice model. Good representation of the ship and all the chrome is beautiful. I can only imagine how much all of the chrome cost, but looks worth it!

The current photo is the best one available of the completed model at this given time. I'm waiting on just one final bricklink order to come in (Hopefully soon) until I am ready to build the model. Once I finish building it I am going to publish a time lapse, review, and photo gallery of the model which hopefully will give everyone a more clear depiction of the ship.

I'm glad that this thread got jump started again. It really is a shame that some people rip off designers and their hard work. Specifically speaking, I wish something could be done about Ledako.de The user has stolen MOCs from several different designers and it has been happening for a few years at this point. Even funnier is the fact that some of the MOCs, such as Anio's, are sold for a higher price than the original

[Instructions] Mortesv's CR-90 Corvette - Blockade Runner (Tantive IV)
Cjd223 replied to Cjd223's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Very interesting. I'll definitely take a look some time in the future at modding the instructions for this model and possibly creating a Rogue One version. Currently I'm working on a really awesome MOC I can't wait to share, but once that wraps up later this spring I'm estimating, I will put this model on the ole To-Do List once again.- 95 replies
