[SR - FB2 - Mar 619] Molokei delights
blackdeathgr replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice one! Besides the flowers, I really like the rockwork and the demolished house above all! -
Thanks Capt Wolf! I wanted to recreate that painting approximately a year ago but I guess now was the (free) time! Thanks Skippy and I am glad you liked it! I am a huge fan of figbarfings! Woof woof! Thanks Professor! Naaah, the girls got their dowry and such. Moreover they chose who to marry and not the other way around As to their destination, I guess everywhere but Breshaun (which already has the creme de la creme of the female colonist so far) Thanks Roadmonkeytj! The interesting topics one can find while browsing at wikipedia while the weather is not suitable for strolling, are endless! Thanks Fraunces! Rest assure that those girls won't marry Oleander aristocrats (those already have their own harems). They are destined for your average, everyday colonist

New Terra, the land of opportunities, yet the land of danger as well... This statement best describes the new lands that are being colonized as we speak. But it is a harsh place and not fit for everyone, let alone women. How can our settlements grow and flourish with so few women around though?? After a careful evaluation by the King's advisers and after a petition by no other than our gracious Queen Mother, poor girls from various parts of Oleon's rural areas and cities were bestowed a dowry and sent to our overseas colonies to get married, have children and educate the newly formed colonies... After some usual wiki-browsing, I stumbled upon that article that however strange, is completely true . You can read more here and here. My creation is a loose interpretation of a past era painting: "A view of women coming to Quebec in 1667, in order to be married to the French Canadian farmers. Talon and Laval are waiting for the arrival of the women" (Watercolor by Eleanor Fortescue Brickdale, 1871-1945. Courtesy of Library and Archives Canada, Acc. no 1996-371-1) Not much of a moc (rather a figbarfing) but I hope you like this free build. Oh, and it's sooo good to be back (even for a while) after all this absence of mine!

Sigh...where's John McClane Bruce Willis when you need him?!?!?! Poor Rassilonians... Never trust a Pirate!

Nice one!

TLG recognised (and supposedly solved) that problem regarding reddish brown elements being fragile (sadly starting with the new sets obviously) and promted the affected customers to contact the customer support team. I am fairly sure I've read TLG's announcement a while back at brickset.com but cant't find the link.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
blackdeathgr replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Hello from me as well guys! As a guy that once was part of the Court nearly from day one of this marvelous game (good old days ) , all I can say is that the Court is the driving force of this game (along with your creativity and imagination ofc) and that if the Court didn't exist, we would all post here (I know, this doesn't sound very tempting, right?). Anyway, the Court decisions aren't perfect all the time but please bear with them since these guys are driving this game with no incentive at all other than them being crazy in love for it and every Age of Sails thing. Anyway keep up with the great work and hopefully i can contribute soon to our great community! P.S: Vive le Roi!!! -
General MOC-Discussion, WIP-Help, and Teaser Thread
blackdeathgr replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in LEGO Pirates
@CommanderJonny1 Hello and welcome to our pirate's cove . Your build is a nice first try and it's your decision should you want to keep this moc of yours or try to build something larger. Regarding the masts of this size, I think brick built ones (with many arts used) look better and having multiples of this piece works wonders. If you have the time, always use rigging (some string and a cloth or paper) as they make vessels look a lot better. If however you decide to go larger, in my opinion, the first thing you should do is to widen the vessel a bit to make it look more "realistic" (at least in minifig scale). Anyway, i hope I've been of help to you and as always, keep building!- 315 replies

Nice MOC! I particularly like how the water changes color gradually. In order to prevent the "corners going up" effect, you need to fully cover the baseplates you are working with plates (of at least 2 layer) or even better, with bricks (1 layer). That needs of curse significant amount of (blue) plates/bricks but you will have a very sturdy creation in the end.

Great one and lots of interesting techniques incorporated. Thanks for sharing!

Seems that we need a better postal service in the old world, right? OOC you have my full backing on the deed (rather than just a medal). If you still have no answer after the following week, pm me or @Bodi and we can sort this out I guess
