  1. Thanks guys! Eagerly waiting for your ideas! Thanks Spud ! And don't worry about the right measurements. This guy's monocle has superpowers and can measure anything he sees (an Oleander invention of course )
  2. A fine ship with a flavor! And don't worry, a man has to start somewhere as far as building ships is concerned. Practice does wonders as well as observation of the numerous MOCs of great builders both here in our community and outside
  3. Nice one! Irregular buildings are great in enhancing your building skills AND your patience
  4. Ahahahahaha, I loved the IC responses and the general "friendly" atmosphere in this thread
  5. Hahahaha! Loved the vertical building!!! Reminded me of Boulder Dash game!
  6. Wow! A proud convention participant and ambassador of our Piratical world! Keep up the great work as always Phred!!! Great wooden roof and imperial vs pirate crabs btw!!!!!!!!!
  7. Before And so it was that the expedition chose to land on the Bay of Pearls. It was not a small feat though as the sea there had tremendous currents and it was due to them that only the bravest of the Natives were diving for Pearls to sell or gift to the newcomers. For the Native divers they were just some beautiful curiosities of mother nature but for the mainlanders, as they called the Oleanders and the rest, those "stones" worth a small fortune. However, things were not as they used to be back when Hugo had visited that location. Upon entering the Bay of Pearls, on a nearby rock protruding from the sea, there was now a tied body of one member of the initial expedition from Fatu Hiva. Strangely though, you could only see his bones. "This fact doesn't make sense", thought Hugo, "as the expedition went away not long ago, thus the body should be whole and not just bare bones...". Under that constant gruesome image, our team struggled with their inner fears and the very real dangerous currents, to ferry all the necessary goods and provisions from our vessel to the beach, doing numerous, perilous runs. So frightened were our not-so-brave mariners, that some talked about sightings of a mermaid... Now THAT was a story fit for a newspaper. All went well though and soon they were all safe and sound on the beach where they found out that a second surprise was waiting for them. On the verge of the jungle, just where the village area was ending, various artifacts of strange origins were found tied on poles as if guarding the jungle from the unwanted visitors. Some looked towards the jungle while the rest faced towards the sea. As those artifacts were apparently constructed by some heathen pagans, we promptly gathered them as we needed to deliver them to the Order. Some concerns were heard that we would better sell them to some shady collector to raise money for the expedition but the pious prevailed in the end and so we decided that we should hand them to the priests of the Order to be destroyed or studied. We needed to find out their purpose though and before giving them to the priests, our expedition's artist, anthropologist and philosopher, monsieur Dalantier, made some drawings of them. We also decided to ask Kahlua No of their origin and purpose so we brought them to him. Upon seeing those artifacts, our esteemed native's face was transformed. He now looked like a hundred years old and his voice turned hollow: "You shouldn't have done that. These thing must remain where they are found. They are our protectors and jailers at the same time. They look to the jungle to protect us from the savage tribesmen that deserted us and followed Mamali, a priest that was possessed by a dark spirit. It is deep within the jungle that they reside doing some bloody and gruesome rituals and acting like oppressors to everybody that chooses to live in the jungle or just goes hunting on their territory. They oppress us but not kill us. They hate newcomers though and they want to free the island of your present. That's why Mamali declared a holy war against you. We were caught in the middle and fled our territories that were close to them but we couldn't openly speak against them as many of us have relatives and kinsmen among them. It is as if condemning our own people if we reveal the truth to you. On the other hand, a life is always a precious thing and it was a terrible thing they did, killing all those fellow countrymen of yours during the latest expedition. You must put an end to their tyrannical existence..." "Gary, quickly fetch me pen and parer. I have to write to Breshaun for reinforcements!", shouted Hugo as he was leaving Kahlua No's shack... I hope you enjoyed my little story and builds. C & C as always welcome and needed actually!
  8. Great effect on the broken window!!!
  9. A charming European-style building! placing it in an angle surely enhances your MOC! Oh, and strangely enough , I like the bright green touches
  10. I am starting to quite like all those black hooded individuals doing shady things these days !!!
  11. Great one, once again! The Reds are coming! I like the inn with the touches of dark tan to break the white monotony (green shutters do make it look Eslandolan though ) and seeing those soldiers marching, I must start using round plates on their feet too because without them I can't quite pose them good enough on bare plates. Also in my opinion a vital detail to your builds in general, is that you use both male and female minifig for the crowd as should be.
  12. Sea turtles dolphins of course! Nice use of that ninjago cape too!
  13. Random individuals equipping a gunboat for themselves and seeking vengeance? Hmmmm,. that spells doom alright! Nice boat btw! They must have surely paid much for it!
  14. Thanks Bodi! Old palm trees are the best (although tricky to handle in a roof)! Thanks Fraunces! It is true that the bbq word derives from native Caribbeans Islanders are the underdog in the old pirates series and I sincerely hope that they reintroduce them someday! Thanks Ayrlego! I am glad that you liked my take on this challenge. I had to be fast while I still have LEGO time . Old palm leaves are great although tricky to incorporate as I've written above. I also used some of my ancient semi-destroyed big palm leaves that can be seen without the two studs on their rear. Fun fact: BBQ is actually some pieces of tank track
  15. The Oleanders may not be the most avid newspaper readers around but they surely deserve their own newspaper, if only for propaganda reasons Seriously speaking, it would be great if you can lead the effort of reviving the "Elina Courier". Oleon must have a voice of its own. OH, and great job on tracking down all sources of info and gathering them in one thread
  16. Oh, yep! Taun Taun horns! Thanks guys

  18. After the grave news of the incident at Ile d' Or reached Breshaun, Hugo D' Offren volunteered to investigate the situation for it was much too dangerous to be left at the hands of the island's militia. The fact that the governor of Ile d' Or was his friend, helped of course. So now we find Hugo and a handful of his trusted company men talking to one of the native refuges that flocked this island's main city after the incident and opened a shop there. Kahlua No was an excellent cook and along with his son, Vod Ka, found a peaceful corner of the settlement and opened up a food shack that served grilled fish and lobster soups (also lobster spaghetti on Sundays). It is with him that Hugo speaks now to find out more clues so as to plan his next moves. Beware Mainlander for the Archipelago isn't for the weak of body and spirit! A long forgotten dark force looms In our deep jungle. It is best to start your quest from our recently abandoned settlement by the Bay of Guiscard as you Oleanders call it; for us it will always be the Bay of Pearls. Starting from there it will give you an easy way out should things go wrong. Oh, and bring many muskets. Many many muskets. And silver bullets. You will need them... After his small speech that strangely made him look like a hundred years old, a tear appeared in one of Kahlua No's eyes as he turned his back on Hugo and continue attending to his food. At the above meeting, one of the vital members of Hugo's company, Tom "Juggernaught" Jones (you've met him and loved him at "In the jungle searching for Pirate lord's hidden gold mine") isn't appearing as he was sent to buy himself some nice flintlocks. But fear not, as you will see him at the next chapters of our story...
  19. Oh, the examples kids have these days... sigh!
  20. Anytime. I forwarded your question to our Estates General pm channel where we usually handle such things of progression in a general direction but feel free to absolutely do anything you like. I for once, get inspiration when I read about Oleon story or by reading the descriptions of Oleon territories of the New World (you can find them here). The good part is that BoBS has traveled quite some miles from its creation so you can find many many stories lying around to be continued or even create some of your own. The best spot to be in order to hear a good story is always a settlement's tavern . Oh, pardon me, austere Hades priests don't drink publicly (surely a lackey can do the trick)
  21. Just transferred you 200DB. Consider this a long term loan from a veteran of the Crown
  22. Well, no need to know anything about the religion in the real age of sail, rather than more or less be in line with Oleon' s religion, something that you do right now with absolute success . For more on Oleon' s religion and a source of inspiration you can read here. Also, bear in mind that when we first landed in these new territories, many accused us (and Hades priests in particular) of atrocities against the natives, something that holds little truth and was never proven. Furthermore, there are sightings of Hades priests in various islands but they are so secretive that none knows their actual business at the moment. Heathens tremble!! And finally, this Era (among other things) is the Era of fleshing out Oleon' s Faith so your sigfig and stories, helps us greatly toward this cause. For further info, current status etc, feel free to ask at our Estates private pm or contact directly @Captain Genaro , @Bodi and @Phred
