I am terribly sorry. I guess I did not read the rules well enough.. The base wasn't ment to be part of the design, just for schowing it. As I Cannot make new Photos without the base (it is taken appart allready), the entry must be withdrawn..

my first ever entry to a contest. My first 'normal Lego' build too. I usually build Technic. This is a small church or chapel. It is build entirely from leftovers and pieces from the wintersets: 10216, 10235 and polybags "fall" and "decorating the tree" Only the base is from another box. Welll... probably not the best, but well I thought I might give it a try..

this is a great MOC. I tried to build several times, but never quite achieved a nice working one, you did succeed excellent however! Very good model, great looks and it is working great as can bee seen in the vid. :thumbup:

Worth when selling: probably 500-600 (when lucky) You will get around 400 more likely from what I can spot quickly. Worth when saving for later: priceless The 'itch' will come back. Store it my friend, get a cardbaord box and store it. This takes no space at all and you will not regret it.

Every once in a while a 'favorite set' topic pops up Well, I can only comment on sets I own: The 8043 excavator. This is what Technic Lego is about for me. All these functions, all the gears and the building techniques all in one model. And a very playable and very very good looking thing! No question about it. Second; the 42009 (probably, since I have not finished it yet ) Third; the 8880 and the 8466 4x4 cars. Attractive design, good functions, good functions, very well designed. Then the 8258 (crane truck) and 8110 (unimog). Also good looking, and nice functions. Well designed but with flaws (f.i. crane folding is awesome, but cannot lift anything) The tractor (8284) is also nices, as well as the Towtruck (8285, loved and hated ) and the supercar (8070) is very nice. Also check out the lovely B-model (hot-rod).. For the less bigger sets; the backhoe (8069) and dumptruck are very very nice. The motor (8051) and 42006 Excavator, and the -little- towtruck 9395, and, and.. Well, (almost?) every set is worth owning What I like a Technic set to have is: 1. a lot of functions 2. building fun, e.g. learning curve (as with the 8043 or building the crane from 8258: what the hell is going on? how will this function?, what is this gear going to do? The way you are stunned once every part is in place) 3. well designed or new building techniques 4. playability 5. looks 6. parts

I want one, oh yes I do But If I get the chance to buy two, I will. The second one would be for resale. Thus I can make some money to buy more Technic

This is just a short, mini review of the 2013 Technic Crane (42009) I got mine at the Lego Store Oberhausen on 20th July. The box is same size as Unimog, quite big, and stuffed with bags. The booklets (6) and stickers are in a plastic bag with a cardboard back to prevent bending. Wheels and 32L axles, as well as with stud-end are 'loose' in the box. Building the crane truck is 3 books, which offers not that much challenges. Good standard building and some nice techniques. The double function outriggers are very, very nice off course! Once done, you are presented with a good looking truck with outriggers and functional steering on 8 wheels and working V8. Since the outriggers extract very slowly, as mentioned by the people who got hold on the 42009, I tried to improve speed. First thing I tried was to switch the 20Tooth and 12T bevel gears, giving me speed instead of reduction. This did not work, it took to much power, so the clutch gear slipped. (The clutch gear is next to the clutch switching outrigger in/out and outrigger up/down functions. This is driven by the motor in the cabin later) So I took two 16T gears instead, this seems to work. Although It does not improve speed that much. I probably have to experiment with changing the gears on the LA 's itself I presume. The 16T gears, the top most is driven by the motor later, the bottom-most drives the outriggers on the back via a 32L axle. You can also view the clutch box and other gears assembled. The 20T tan bevel gear will be driven by the motor Part of the outriggers and overall overview After book 3 there are several left overs. The usual things, pins, lights and one red 8t 'slidding gear Which is a nice bonus. But the best bonus is; you still have a lot of numbered bags left Now it is time to build the Crane Cabin, and this is where the gears kick-in! When done you have a compact, yet very sturdy structure with massive technic (gears, clutches, the lot. ) It powers the undercariage through the turntable: The crane rope which is driven by a worm-gear and clutch. As seen from the bottom: L-Motor, positioned at the back and to one side. This drives a 16T gear, three 16T clutch gears and another 16T gear (and the clutch box) I know I should have taken more (and better!!) photo 's while building This is where I am atm. I will keep you updated! Sofar: A must have, this set is. Simple fact. Yes, the 8043 excavator was more fun to build IMHO. But the sheer size and part count is really, really good. I think the people that place the 8258 (crane Truck) as best Technic set ever, will want this one soooo bad it will hurt For me the 8043 still tops the lot, but this one is just so damn nice it 'll come very very short after it I also feel the designers did not save on extra 's, by this I mean that a lot of extra parts are particularly used for the looks. When they wanted to save on parts, some could have been done without. F.i. The dark grey pulleys on the wheels, the crane support beams on the truck.. It is much nicer, better looking this way. Which is a good thing really And I haven 't even finished it yet!

Yep I did. Had to do it You will too, you cannot go by this set.. You know you want too Started building yesterday. Got as far as book 2 in about 1,5hrs. Still much much left (fortunately ) The better part of the first booklet is not much fun, I was a bit disappointed actually. But once the gears start coming it gets more interesting, some nice -new?- techniques are used also. I think it will be a fun build after all, maybe it can even compete with building the 8043 (my all-time favourite )

The new technic sets are in the Lego Stores in Germany. I got mine There was a german Afol who bought both the crane and the Tow Truck right in front of me, anyone from here? (yesterday evening at around 18hrs in Oberhausen)

You are right. I did try this set-up using 2 'old-style', the shorter compressors too. Alas to no avail. I could try with a longer travel..

And it works.. The compressor is not strong enough to operate 2 cilinders in my setup. But using one works well! Phone-vid (bad quality)

I like the design! When I was looking at it, I thought it was not gonna work due to the 8t gear driving the valve. But I missed the last sentence: I should mention that the top worm screw is on a fixed axle Now I get it, and it may work indeed! I will build it if that is ok with you
