[MOC] RC Ripsaw aka "FastTrack"
syclone replied to JamesJT's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
One cannot appreciate the speed those motors give until sees this.Have you tried offroading it? -
The fan acts as a flywheel, if you have made the mechanism as it is on the photo, you first must rotate the blades by hand to start it . The principle of this is the same as a single cylinder pneumatic engine, you have one cylinder that goes up & down, and the flywheel maintains the motor running. Just look at the wheel at the start

Color Coding
syclone replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Judging by Lego products it seems like kids are becoming more stupid every year, the one piece steps, colour coding... Back in 2006 when I was 4 I hadn't any problems (my parents didn't help me) building the 8281, even being my first set, so I don't see any reason to this colour coding. -

I specially like how you made the front grille and the front lights, and the car in general is very cool. Maybe if the flex axles were white they wouldn't "break" the lines of the front mudguard. -

I'm glad you still building The fireplane is a very nice build , I had on display for two(!) weeks only because how cool it worked. The size also surprised me when I was building it, I think it is due to the wingspan. The b-model is also very cool build, I had the luck of not applying the stickers on the main model so the b model looked clean and nice. May the Schwartz be with you ;) -

Looks really great, but the flex axles solution in the front fenders doesn't convinces me. -

Sorry for double post , but I have some important updates -> Front axle V2.1 Apparently there was some gear skipping in the V2.0 , now it is fixed and I also added a steering wheel output. LDD -

Actually attaching the shocks on the lower wishbone isn't a problem at all, in my setup you have to compress completely the shocks and apply quite a lot of force before the pins pop out. Also have in mind that 0'5 kg didn't even compressed the suspension. If referred to the front of the wishbones, it doesn't looks like there are problems with it. The 4l axles with stop and 2x 2l thin liftarms inside the wishbone maintain all sturdy. Further explanation and photos will be posted in the corresponding topic for maintaining this topic clean. -
[WIP] Pentax Supercar
syclone replied to syclone's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Some regress on it to perfect the front Already built IRL , works a lot better than previous version. I manage to center the drive shaft. To your discussion , the V2 using Didumos69 wheelhubs: LDD For some reason the wishbones are angled up in LDD , IRL they are perfectly straight Gearbox idea dropped off, don't really find it necessary with (hopefully ) BuWizz speed control system. Centering myself on an efficient way to deliver power and creating a rear axle. -

I have checked all the resources listed above, that's why I was asking . Don't worry , already got an idea Problem with Icarus : RWD , so the shocks were placed inside the front wishbones, something impossible having AWD but his idea inspired me. -

Which MOCs would be recommended to learn about suspensions ( especially front ones , preferably driven) ? I am speaking about low suspensions, I just want to study them for creating a better one for Pentax.
