Brick Bank Ghostbusters' HQ Big Ben (if rumors are true) Will check out upcoming / existing UCS Star Wars sets, if I ever decide one of the three mentioned above can wait.
-
Now here's a set I'd purchase right away.

I have about 250CAD (around 220US) and don't know whether to purchase a set that is available now for Christmas, or wait until January 2nd to head to the LEGO Store and pick up the Brick Bank. I'm into modular buildings (got them all except BB) and Star Wars (got the UCS X-Wing and Slave I), but I also like other expert / UCS / big sets (Tumbler, Simpson House, Mini Cooper, etc.). Can anyone help me decide which set(s) I should purchase?

I always love seeing these Iron Builder creations. Goes to show how such a specific-looking kind of piece can be used for a multitude of builds.

There is no way TLG would use Town Hall's printed clock piece for the Big Ben. It's too small and lazy (print) for a landmark set. I think, or at least, hope, that the clock will be entirely brick built. Building the clock with bricks and SNOT would make everything much more interesting. Plus, by making it brick built, there are many more possibilities for the set's size.

If it were between the AT-AT and the Imprtial Shuttle (both OT sets), I'd recommend the Shuttle, as it's much nicer and prettier to look at, and, in any case, TLG will probably re-release another AT-AT in about a year or two. -
Looks more like a death star. Either way, this MOC is very nice. Apart the whole "mixing aspect" (which is perfect), I always enjoy curved builds executed with SNOT.

This is going to look great. Just by taking a look at the SNOT circle where the turret goes, I can expect this to be beautifully built.

Yes, it's possible, tons of people have built the UCS Millenium Falcon. I'm not too keen about 10179's rare / expensive parts but I do know that there are two grey mast riggings that are quite expensive but that can be substitued by spray painting the same part but in a cheaper colour or by using other bricks to remodel the area where these pieces are needed, and that there are a lot of grey antenna pieces (grey base and antenna) that can be replaced with black antennas (grey base, black antenna). All in all, yes, 10179 can be built in 2015 but some modifications have to be done if you want to save a lot of money. -
Even though I've only seen the first episode of Doctor Who, this set is absolutely outstanding and might make it into my wishlist! Thank you for this incredible review!

That black Kylo Ren's Shuttle looks a million times better and more sinister than the DBG version.

Good Lord, that golden bit of Metalbeard's Sea Cow is absolutely legendary!

All the buildings here are incredible. Although, the one that stands out the most to me is that "large building" made mostly from GG chunks. The angled build and street are incredible well executed! I wish I had half the skill and imagination (and bricks ) these master builders have!

The users over at Hothbricks believe it's a placeholder image. The included model will most likely be the A-Wing polybag that came out not-so-long ago.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Terrasher replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Heh, Brick Bank still hasn't come out and we're already speculating about 2017's modular A library, museum, hospital or police office have been proposed numerous times already. If I had to throw an idea, I'd say the next modular could be a dentist's office implemented in an apartment building (first floor would be the office while the top floors would be residential). -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Just coming back on a comment a couple people made regarding modulars ever stopping... As long as they sell well, it would be a stupid decision for TLG to stop producing modular buildings (plus, it's one of the few sub-themes (besides UCS and Landmarks) that is directed mainly towards AFOLs). Simple comment to reassure anyone that might fear seeing the last modular LEGO makes anytime soon. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Terrasher replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Brick Bank sure is pretty. Although, the major con for me is its size: should at least be as tall as the Grand Emporium (minus the sign). A short bank feels kind of odd, since it's one of the structures you'd expect to see near a Town Hall (which dwarfs this set). -
Hahah! The technique used with glass doors to make those frameless windows is very ingenious! As for the rest of the modular, not the greatest building nor the worst. It's a bit short (shorter than the Grand Emporium), but it should fit in nicely next to the Parisian Restaurant, Pet Shop or Detective's Office. As in the last two modulars, there is an incredible amount of detail inside the set as well as lots of fun play features. I'm excited to see the reviews and purchase the Brick Bank as soon as possible!

Wowowow, are those stands serious? If so, it's a pretty unexpected new feature (I like it!). Battlepacks are outstanding, as always. Obi-Wan's Interceptor looks very fancy (makes me wish I bought Anakin's). Carbon Freezing Chamber looks O.K. (a bit too much grey, not enough black). Hoth Attack is a meh (that probe droid is pathetic). That B-Wing looking ship looks intriguing. Not interested in the speeder bike. I wonder why TLG ever decided to release a set that was in store not so long ago, and doesn't have any major changes to its design (definite pass). Alright wave, the more OT / other stormtroopers & rebels (not the series) sets we get, the happier I am.
-
Woah, this version looks so much more elegant. I'll pass on Poe's X-Wing, but if TLG ever releases one in this white and blue colour scheme, I'll surely purchase one.
-
Oh my... the panda's jumper plate and 1X2 brick with studs on the side might make me want to get a full cup exclusively full of those two pieces! They sure will be useful for making modular MOCs, I'll probably head to my nearest store this weekend and grab a ton of them

The furniture is very well done. You couldn't have made a better minifig for the tattooer Accurate!

Lars' homestead is one of the few Star Wars sets TLG has never released. If they ever went on a "never before made" or "hey, it's been ten years since we've made this, let's remake it" spree, then you very well could get it in another non-Sandcrawler set. Although, with the new movies coming out and all, there shouldn't be much room for OT sets. 10$ isn't much, you could always buy it before the price rises, or wait and hope he comes in a set that would come out in a year or two... -
I really like the black and grey windows on the second and third floors of the building, they remind me of something more industrial-looking. As for the interior? Details... so many of them... Beautiful!
-
One Green Grocer (personal favorite, also first modular ) One Grand Emporium One Pet Shop One Town Hall One Palace Cinema One Parisian Restaurant I'll probably purchase soon the Detective's Office (in the meantime, I'm rebuilding all my modulars since I disassembled them a month or so ago and I regret everything).
