  1. The niffler looks so content with all of its bounty. Wonderful build.
  2. Thanks Cop Mike just received Manatee A, which was able to brave the cold Canadian waters and make it to my house. Cheers!.
  3. Wonderful and subtle use of colours. Lovely.
  4. My favourite printed parts are 1x4 tiles printed with a wood pattern when doing MOC buildings. Some other useful decorative tiles are the 2x2 black rune pattern tile, and the 1x4 reddish brown viking pattern tile seen surrounding the green grocer door. I also like the stained glass window from the brick bank and some other printed glass. I like printed pieces to add small interesting features to the interiors of buildings.
  5. I really like the idea of an ice house and this is very well done. It definitely harkens back to a past age when ice wasn't a ubiquitous commodity and fits in well with the winter village.
  6. This is such unique idea. It looks wonderful and fits in very well with the winter village. Every village needs a glass blower to create Christmas tree ornaments. Well done!
  7. Sorry for your loss. Great little MOC, and very reminiscent of some of the butcher shops I have visited in Southern Ontario.
  8. Great new site! I really like the way it is laid out and your initial articles. Congrats and hope all goes well.
  9. These are so great and funny! Love the outhouse and the speeding caravan (camper) and escaping Princess Leia, but they are all marvelous. Happy Holidays, does Santa deliver by rail?
  10. Thanks for sharing your advent calendars, they are very clever! My favourite is the Medieval Market and it looks great all put together. Love St. Nick. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
  11. Merry Christmas all and thanks CopMike and Siegfried for putting this all together. It is a great holiday tradition. CHEERS!
  12. These MOCs capture the spirit of the movie brilliantly. The characters seem as if they could be made out of clay, like in the stop motion movie, rather than lego. WOW!
  13. Thanks, I love your Friends Winter house as well! You are right the first was definitely too tall, it belongs with Hagrid's Hut and makes everything else look like that. Glad you like the new roof and thanks for your helpful comments.
  14. Very nice, even a magenta piano! Great touch with the Santa hat on the Christmas tree. A lovely, festive Friends' house! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
  15. Thanks! Glad you like the brick built version. It was hard to make it not look too busy. Thanks for the nice comments.
  16. I like the roof of Hagrid's Hut on the train station, but it is such an iconic piece that I thought I would try an alternate roof. I found an octagonal roof a real challenge with the slanted pieces I own and would like to see which roof people prefer. Below are images of the train station with the two styles of roofs. Comments really appreciated. Thanks I have gone with the new roof and have edited the picture of the old roof out. You can still see it on my Flickr page if interested. image by Karen Metz, on Flickr image by Karen Metz, on Flickr image by Karen Metz, on Flickr
  17. This is an amazing combo of two sets for the two teams. Did you have to eliminate the fire pole so there wouldn't be fights over whether the boys or the girls got first dibs? Great work!
  18. Train wheels do make it better! Cheers
  19. I am from Ontario, how did you guess :) Nothing stuck that I know of.
  20. Thanks for the nice comments. Unfortunately, the seat isn't heated but at least it is wood rather than porcelain, which would be a tad chillier ;) The fence pieces were actually from the Fantastic Beasts Dimensions pack, which has 8 in gold. Their design was originally in Elves I think. I agree, the Emerald Night is beautiful, but too expensive to get now and I got back into Lego too late to purchase one retail. Even brinklinking the parts is prohibitive. The Constitution is a fantastic little train, more in line with the old steam trains that were used on the CP and Grand Trunk lines and is still affordable. It is one of my favourite trains too. Thanks!
  21. Every rail line needs a train station and this one lets passengers from Eastern Ontario, where my Winter Village is located, travel to the North Pole to visit Santa’s Workshop. There are a few old Canadian Pacific and Grand Trunk Railway Stations in Ontario that have a large round architectural element to them and this was the inspiration for my MOC. A cast iron wood stove warms the inside of the train station that is decorated for Christmas. I have included some photos of my Winter Steam Engine train as well. Hope you enjoy and have a very Happy Holiday Season! image by Karen Metz, on Flickr image by Karen Metz, on Flickr image b y Kareimage by 2 by Karen Metz, on FlickrKaren Metz, on Flickrn Metz, on Flickr image by Karen Metz, on Flickr image by Karen Metz, on Flickr image by Karen Metz, on Flickr There is no indoor plumbing so an outhouse was required. 22. Thanks so much. I can't take credit for the front light since it is the design on the Constitution, but the passenger cars, livestock car and interiors are all mine. I made many changes to the locomotive as well. Thanks! I have a few more photos of the train after tweeking the front a bit and that show the train all together. 23. Thanks for the nice comments everyone. It would be nice to be able to alter the speed but I wasn't sure if the IR receiver needed to have direct sight-line with the PF speed controller to function. I didn't want to have it buried in the livestock car and not pick up a signal. I also liked the idea of a rechargeable battery instead of constantly replacing AAAs. The speed control on the battery was a nice bonus.
  24. This is perfect for the Winter Village. So sad if there isn't another Expand the WInter Village contest this year in the annual tradition. I love seeing all of the creative ideas of everyone who enters. This MOC would surely be a contender. Love all the little details, like the chocolate fountain and the rotating wreaths. The chocolate delivery truck looks great. You can never have too many ways of delivering chocolate.
  25. Thanks. Glad you like it. Yup, this is my very first train. I learned a lot making it, like how most passenger steam trains didn't have cabooses so the back balcony seemed needed. Thanks for the comments. Thanks. I had fun doing the interiors.
