General Part Discussion

It is pretty long, so use would be really limited for central tunnels.- 5,507 replies

[HELP] Generic Building Help Topic
Jurss replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Only proper option is that mecabricks. If other apps, then really some remote desktop, f.i. chrome remote. Maybe option is some windows tablet. LDD could work on some older ones (not so expensive). -

Why?! :) Maybe some remote desktop to some windows machine, if it is really so critical. -
Hrafn's small builds
Jurss replied to Hrafn's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Would look like this. Main issue, that this won't be rigid. It should rely on some bracing between suspension arms -

Interesting. Just not shure, if it would be better in some way than standard. Distance from steering axle to wheel may be shorter, it seems? And I think, that steering lever can be made shorter, if some other parts are used. -
[MOC] LEGO 8440 Update
Jurss replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is really good remake. There are so much possibilities -
It looks good. Front suspension is interesting. It somehow steers badly. Maybe some ridge on skis are needed?

[WIP] JCB Fastrac Two
Jurss replied to JLiu15's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Engine lenght is correct, also almost in right place lenghtwise (?), but it is really too high. And it looks like there is space to lower it. I think there should be room in this scale to fit everything. As it is longer, then maybe that hood won't look too bad/high. OK, it is clear, that this build won't be in scale with wheels. -

Drifts very well. But those wheels looke strange, too small. -
[WIP] JCB Fastrac Two
Jurss replied to JLiu15's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, I gave permission to 1gor to build it. But what I can see. Wheelbase is some 5 studs too long. It should be some 27. You have some 32, if I counted correctly. Yes, I did measurments on some photo, maybe You have some more correct blueprint. Width seems OK. In this scale I was planning to make nice rear axle (yes on my list is also bigger version). It is pretty iconic for that tractor. As You gave there drive motors, that axle wont be that nice. Maybe put those motors vertical, and hide in cabin rear extension. I'm also afraid, that there could be not space for fake engine to put in this scale. But maybe You are not going to fit in scale with wheels? Good luck with it! I wan't to see paneling in this scale. At least bonnet should be easier to do, and closer to real one. -

[MOC] JCB WFT

Interesting tracors, and they are competing with JCB fastrac, as that syn-trac has 80km/h option -

Jurss replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I thought about this kind of panel But shorter, as in scale bonnet is some 9 studs long. This 13x3 will be OK for that large scale. Side by side also two firing panels would be too wide for scale. -
[MOC]/[POC] RC Snowmobile
Jurss replied to 2GodBDGlory's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Good concept. It seems, that You need to improve somehow steering stiffnes, as each ski goes its way. Yea, I know, it is mainly lego parts defined issue. But maybe somehow those ball connections are possible to replace with more pin based linkage. Also, for better steering, maybe some ridge/groove can be made on skis, so that it steers better on snow. And some weels inside, to steer on asphalt :) -

Really good sweeper. I appreaciate all the detailing, even water blast (or something). -

Mee too, but form some 3 options this for me looked best. I grant You permisssion to do that Steering angle was pretty limited, so used this option, and it somehow it was even simpler. And just wanted to try this kind of option. Thank You. For pure technic build, there are not much options in this scale. As I wrote, need to wait for lego to develope 3x9 curved panel. -
This thing - called world fastest tractor. World's Fastest Tractor (jcb.com) Was considering also large scale, but stopped for a moment on some midsize. At the end it has also some functions - fake engine, differential, HOG steering, openable hood. Also on original there are not much function - mainly high speed. Disclaimer - inside pics was better then in outside somehow (maybe because of winter) Fake engine - four working cylinders, but it is six studs long, so two really fake cylinders. In fact, to be in scale, this kind of fake engine with 6 working cylinders, would fit with Volvo loader wheels. Engine is at slight angle, just like on original This is how HOG steering crosses drive axle (red) Bonnet could have been better, but there is no 9x3 curved panel or similar. I tried idea with some angled connectors, but this straight solution seemed better. Also it would been good to have those rear fenders in yellow. They are available, but I don't have them. Rebrickable showed, that average price is 30EUR, but in fact, it appeared, that they are some few euros on bricklink. By form they are almost perfect. Maybe will continue with large scale on Volvo wheels. But who knows, when that will happen.

Your Best Technic Bargains
Jurss replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lucky You! In LV also 449.95 and even sold out. -
For latvian little bit different, more like starting with at , and totally wrong for russians. But price per piece count, considering license, seems OK. If we also take in to account energy prices, then really OK. And of course, lego also is just a bussiness, so they are making products, that really sells. Here we can use our contests as examples - most probably, best looking will "sell". But I think, I will buy this because of parts, as those new won't be available soon in large amounts for good price. There was also complains about halo. I think, it is pretty OK for parts available. I would be more dissapointed, if they made some specific part just to use in this halo, and not to come back for it. Of course, I would expected really front and other panels removable for "maintenance". That would be good feature. Maybe some more details on engine. But I think, we have good base for modding again. This is the way, lego cares about us, those who wan't it not only as display model.
