  1. I love custom sails! And these look like they took a lot of work! Excellent work! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  2. Looks fantastic! I hope you can one day bring it to live via bricks, but it's impressive enough as is! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  3. This looks great! I love the sails. And there's a lot of cool detail going on the cliff side! In a few days expect this to be [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  4. Loving the vintage feel of your two sets guys! Definitely a refreshing take on this competition!
  5. Great ship! I really like the decoration on the aft section of the boat. Looked at that ship like 5 times and only now did I realize those were minifig legs sittinthere! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  6. I love pirate brickfilms! I don't see enough of them on Youtube, keep up the good work!
  7. Awesome remake to one of my favorite sets! I like the new base plate! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] P.S. Happy birthday!
  8. 6 working cannons! Haha finally, first time since Black Sea's Barracuda does LEGO give us enough cannons to man both sides of the ship. It'll only cost us 250 USD too! lol
  9. Thanks for sharing this Louie! I've been waiting for more info on this set. I've tried to collect practically every "sailing" ship LEGO has made, but this one is still a really hard sell for me... especially cause of the high price point and the fact that I'm not all that great at MOCs... Cool to see Benny's helmet is actually cracked! Been wondering that for a while now.
  10. [pid][/pid] 244C Stumbled across this find on flickr Pirates of the Caribbean by Anonymous Bricks, flickr For such a small build I thought it had a lot of character. Check out his other creations or get a parts list on his photostream. [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  11. Great find louie! This is amazing!
  12. This MOC is great! I love these smaller ships, gives hope to the average LEGO fans that maybe someday they too can make such a creation! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  13. This looks awesome! What did you use for the shoulder pads on the captain? [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  14. Welcome! I hope you found plenty of treasure in your storage boxes. That's how I got back into LEGO as well, digging through the garage and finding old sets.
  15. I love this modular style of building MOCs! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
  16. Bear with me would ya?

  17. Hey I'm interested in this position. I've been a member for a few years now, and although I have not been the most active member, I'm constantly checking Classic-Pirates for rumors on Lego Pirates and for interesting MOCs. I do own every official LEGO Pirate ship, and many other pirate sets, as Pirates have always been my favorite theme. Unfortunately I do not really posses any of the "advantageous skills" but am willing to learn if no other more qualified members apply. I'm 25, a native of California, and have a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, however I'm currently unemployed and rehabbing a recent back surgery, so I will have a lot of free time for at least the next several months. Once I do finally find work, I imagine I'll still be able to write 1 blog article per week. I'd love to be a part of the Classic-Pirates team and should you feel I'm a good candidate, please let me know. Thanks
  18. I'm not a very good MOCer but this does look like it'd be good for parts. Since I'm not into MOCing (yet) I'm not sure its worth purchasing or not. I would love to support pirates and pirate ships by buying this. Hopefully my purchase would translate to LEGO that there's still a market for Lego Pirates, in a hope that they'll return one day. On the other hand, it's WAY too odd of a ship for me to get too excited about, and at 2700+ pieces I'm scared to see what the price would be.
  19. http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=70807-1 Looks like that's a real set. Funny when I first saw that pic I didn't think it would be mechanically stable and had to be a CGI render from the movie. Not sure if I'm happy or not about this set cause I was hoping for a little more based on these other sets. But at least there's some pirate elements in it... BTW these links might contain spoilers... http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=70806-1 http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=70812-1
  20. Well that sucks. Maybe that means LEGO will have more incentive of hitting us with a quick Classic Pirates theme in the mean time?
  21. I just managed to get this set and was VERY disappointed in the quality of the minifigures. It's really strange because I go by a number of different methods that I've picked up from here and other forums, on determining the quality of figures. 1. Does the box mention Components made in China? -This set does, but that doesn't always work, as many specialty parts (in this case the gold chrome coins) can also be made in China, and the rest of the set made elsewhere. However my coins look almost silver... 2. Does the neck of the minifigure have the printed rectangle. -The pirate captain does, but none of the other figures do. 3. Is there the indentation on the armpit of the minifigure that the Chinese made figures have? -Pirate Captain, and one pirate DO NOT have the indentaion, the female and other pirate do. 4. Is there a number printed on the wrist (Again commonly found on figures made in China) -None have it 5. Is there a square indentation on the back of their leg when you bend the legs completely forward? -Yes on all. So to me this seems like it really was a mix of left over parts, since they are all varying quality. The legs are very lose, headgear seem to fit loosely and color seems a little off. But the weapons and accessories "Click" on the hands, and the pirate captains torso printing seems vibrant and clear, and a lot of the parts have that "shine" that was lacking in the CMF line. I have to go home and find the same minifigures from previous sets and do a full comparison to be sure... so hopefully I can try to add some high quality photo comparisons to support my claim...
  22. The back of the box includes China as a place where the components were made, and that usually means the figures are sub par, but it could be referring to the gold chrome coins and bar. Then again the instructions show the torso's without the black mark on the necks, and that's what I judge my minifigure quality too, so I'm not sure. I tried to zoom in on the minifigures to see if they had the "numbers" on their wrist which is another indicator, but I couldn't tell by the picture.
  23. I think your right! That definitely looks like a dark red bandanna, if its the one your talking about I'd be very excited as I don't have a single one of those for my pirates.
  24. A quick generic pirate release before the next PotC movie would be awesome! Just because there would be at least 5 sets and a variety of stuff, but then again, a quick release like that could be very underwhelming, (as my opinion of the current Castle theme) so maybe a D2C set would be a better idea since it would be 1 really expensive, and detailed set like the Imperial Flagship, I don't know which one I would want more... I'd probably still lean towards a theme just for the sake of getting more minifigures, and I guess you could always just use the parts to build something better. As long as we get another ship, I'll even settle for a small Cross Bone Clipper sized ship.
  25. Well this set is disappointing...Not enough weapons, and the minifigures aren't that interesting... Still I'll buy it though just because pirates are my #1 theme and I'm glad LEGO is at least keeping the theme alive. I want to support the theme by buying product so hopefully LEGO notices there is still a demand for Pirates and will one day bring the theme back
