Pet Shop 10218: door decoration piece different from box
ReplicaOfLife replied to ogelivation's topic in LEGO Town
Later production runs of sets often have updated versions of a piece. Iirc, there was also the case - also with PS - of the old 1x4x2 railing with 2 knobs on top being replaced with the newer version that has 4 knobs. -
Dug around a little, and... 'talos' did it, it was right here in this thread : http://www.eurobrick...75#entry2163763 There are some more pics in his original post, won't quote them all now.

Didn't someone already build a tan version of it? I recall seeing pics of one somewhere. This might give you an even better idea of how it'll look than the ldd (which I think is always a bit off in colors).

Collecting/cashing in lego VIP points
ReplicaOfLife replied to BrickOn's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That's exactly how it works. You get VIP points for the amount you actually pay. The discount you get from using up pre-existing VIP points doesn't get factored in. -
When I was in the Oberhausen store in June they had one bin that had a total random mixture of elements. Lots looked like kids had built something from the elements in the wall, but other parts were elements not found on the wall. Guess those came from dismantled sets aswell.

Third rails are quite common with subways, for example in Berlin, Germany. And a lot of the subway actually runs above ground, so electrical trains withgout pantographs aren't an uncommon sight at all. The supply stud system remind sme of the Märklin H0 scale train system that also uses center studs for power transfer. Nice work overall :)

That last one is that 'Venus' coaster located somewhere in Japan, right? Anyway, awesome MOC! Most Lego Coaster MOCs are 'just' the coaster, this is the first I've seen that has themeing and detailing all around. The second inversion on your MOC (if I'm seeing that correctly) looks a bit painful, though. Would love to see video of it!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
ReplicaOfLife replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Guess we'll just have to wait some time more... When I read the deli rumor, I somehow had tro think about a low, one storey, 50ies american deli...which would be overly consistent with the downsizing trend in modulars. So let's hope it's something else. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Guess I should consider selling mine then. It's still misb and I don't like the design much anyway (which is why I never built it so far) -
Brilliant. I'm usually not exactly a fan of modern architecture, but this is a house I'd readily move in

Nice, like the tan/light grey color scheme! Not a fan of the use of two 1x2x3 windows on the top floor, though, would replace those with a 1x4x3 with shutters. I originally employed a similar substitution for the windows on the top floor of my Blue Grocer, but quickly changed to the shuttered 1x4x3s there.

Review: 21302 - The Big Bang Theory
ReplicaOfLife replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for the review. Will definately get this. PPP ratio is weak, but as a big fan of the show I just need it :) -
As usual, there's nothing not to like. The architecture works on every level - I don't mind the high level of greebling. 'Zuckerbäckerstil' (sorry, don't think there's an english expression for that :() isn't necessarily a bad thing. The idea of having a monorail (which looks great aswell, btw) running through a house is very nice, and I had to think of the example in Berlin right away. The attention to detail is outstanding aswell, especially on the interior. I love how you manage to evoke stories and situations seemingly effortlessly. And I wouldn't mind about the Fishmaster being dwarfed by it - building heights and dimensions generally vary.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Corners offer more possibilities. And the next buiilding is most definately gonna be a corner building. So far the patter always has been a corner, then two straight buildings, and a corner again. -
Getting the pieces for Lego 10190 Market Street
ReplicaOfLife replied to Locutis's topic in LEGO Town
There's a similar, but slightly more explainable phenomenon with Café Corner. It uses a load of dark red 1x2x3 slopes, and when I BLed mine a year ago, the BnP site for Café Corner showed them as out of stock (as with pretty much all rare parts in that set). However, the slope was in production and availble through Lego - you just had to search via Pet Shop and you got it. It was twice the price of similar slopes in other arches, but still a lot cheaper then bricklinking them. Though iirc, the two sets differed slightly, I think Cafe Corner originally had the closed stud version or something. So if you care about that, it wouldn't have helped oyu. Still, lego could and should fix this issue and also link slight modl variations together so they get suggested when you search for an outdated version. -
So who likes the new Bricklink skin?
ReplicaOfLife replied to bonox's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Will judge it next time I really need it. From a first look, I find some information not so easily accessible as before, but that may be just because I need to get used to it. I didn't mind the old design, it was idiosyncratic and I tend to like stuff that's unusual, but I can see why it was in dire need of a reworking. It looked like it hadn't changed since 1999 or something. -
Yet another masterful build by you. The work around the windows definetly payed off, they look great :)

Wow. Just...wow. Your mill is yet another absolutely stunning build. Love every part of it, so many details everywhere and nice architectural touches, too. Must've been quite hard to get it to remain upright. Can it actually turn?

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
ReplicaOfLife replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Hm, not too excited if this arcade rumor should have substance to it. With the recent trend, I'm somehow expecting a one storey building with a faux second floor facade, with a ton of pieces used inside for the arcade, and the exterior walls built solely from 1x1s, 1x2s and 1x3s to cheat past the 2000 pieces mark. And even apart from that, an arcade in general is a concept that holds no interest at all for me - Lego or real-life... Hoping for something else here. Btw: In german, "Amüsierbetrieb" (amusement business) is a word used for nightclubs, often used derogatively and even applied to brothels. -
Wow! BRILLIANT tobacco shop there, congrats! Nice design throughout, and it perfectly captures the 'old town centre'-feel. I especially love the view from the back with the steep gable - reminds me of all the medieval buildings in my home town that also have such a steep roof. If I ever get around to making a Lego version of the one I live in, I'll have to borrow some ideas from your roof construction

I have to agree, I like it a lot, too, especially the blue half. On the Detectiv'e Office, I would've stuck to the original window configuration, since I find the 4-wide wall inbetween the two windows a bit off putting. ...Man, I'm so itchy to start on my own mod & accompanying MOC. I have all the pieces here, but just can't seem to find the time to get going right now. Though I have to say, I wouldn't spend a lot of time hunched over Lego building in the current heat wave we have here anyway, even if I had the time.
-
Out of the ones you suggested, I'd propably go with reddish brown. Medium blue might work, but I think it's still a little too bright to really work on a large facade. And as others said, steer clear of the primary colors. I did my own version in sand blue, like most did. I also saw a tan version on here somewhere which looked nice aswell.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
ReplicaOfLife replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Regarding the flower shop/greenhouse: Don't forget that the next one will likely be a corner building, so little to no space out back for a greenhouse. Unless, of course, we get a massively downsized cornerbuilding
