  1. Lucky find on the TH. I missed out on getting a second one when it was still available, now I only have one If I saw two of them for regular retail price somewhere, I'd get them both.
  2. When I BLed my Café Corner, I did an interior for the ground floor aswell. I had planned ahead without use of LDD or anything, and ordered a couple of bricks I needed for it. It was fun :)
  3. Impressive room, and nice work on the cutomised furniture :)
  4. Holy. Crap. How many pieces are in this? You must've used thousands for the roof and exterior walls shingles alone. Not to mention that chimney built up entirely of 1x1 round plates.
  5. Great trip into Lego's past, thanks for posting :) That 1601 looks like an interesting set. Looking back, it's always nice to see how they managed to evoke easily recognizable structures with just the basic parts that were available back then.
  6. Wow, sweet build. And a good usage of vintage parts and parts in primary colors!
  7. Extremely neat design there, love it!
  8. You could have replaced the bricks that are tan in the original building with another common color, e.g. dark bluish grey. That would provide some more contrast to the facade.Anyway, nice build :)
  9. There's no definite answer for that as it depends on how you chose to substitute. For example, when I BLed my Sand Blue Grocer, I went through the instructions locating common brick combinations and worked it out from there. So, for example, I checked how often you would find a combination of 2 1x8s and one 1x3 and would replace that with three 1x6 and one 1x1. Imo, that leads to a more efficient brick use than just replacing each 1x8 by a combination of two other bricks, but of course it takes time to figure it all out. Apparently I did some blunders and ended up one or two 1x6 too short, but could compensate with leftover 1x1s and 1x4s, iirc. I had it all worked out in Excel, but lost that Excel due to a HD crash. Might still have a backup on a laptop, if you're interested I can check next time I turn it on.
  10. Happened to me aswell. Hope this gets fixed soon, it's really annoying. I'm working on a huge project, so I can still color bricks using the eyedropper tool, but still this is bad.
  11. Love it!
  12. Looks good, finnbricker, looking forward to the final result. I started planning my MOD of DO in LDD (haven't bought it yet, waiting for the double VIP). It will use two sets plus lots of extra parts. I finally decided on doing a redesign that will make fit better with PS/PR/CC/GG and my Record Store (-> http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=105624 ).
  13. I just recently discovered his channel and have watched a lot of his videos. I love that he also covers all the Classic Space stuff, and also other old and classic sets. That's actually the videos I'm interested in the most. And I find it bizarre that I actually spend time to watch someone else open his Bricklink orders.
  14. Actually, this setup is quite typical for a lot of european countries.
  15. Lego apparently really needs to work on their quality control regarding the color mixing. The blue bricks on Pet Shop were two very distinct shades of sand blue aswell, and it's also noticable in other colors, even very common ones like light bley.
  16. I noticed that aswell and also think it's sad. I pretty much read all reviews that were posted here since I first signed up (with my old account, two years ago). I think the reasons everyone came up with are all valid, especially this one: You could notice that with a review redhead1982 did a couiple weeks ago set. It was a really great in-depth review, but it got only 4-5 replies, maybe because it was 'only' a small Friends set. But it's easy to see that such a low general response to a review that surely took a lot of time in creation discourages the reviewers from doing more reviews.
  17. Seriously though, as long as it's colors or elements viable for use in 'serious' buildings (like the cool yellow, which works perfectly for buildings, or the new window piece to go under arches introduced in that Friends Hotel set), who cares where they were introduced first? I don't think anyone thinks of a pink/lilac monstrosity with fluffy unicorns and glitter for greebling when they bring up points like this.
  18. Adding a mansard roof to the DO was one of the first modding ideas that came to my mind when the firest pictures surfaced. You've done a nice job on it, though I would've completely removed the front of the original roof (where you already took out the hero Factory fists) to get a smoother transition.
  19. Another great design, very well done! Love all the lottle details, the color scheme and interesting building techniques!
  20. Wow, this causes a wave of nostalgia for me. I remember drooling over the large airport sets when I was a kid (mostly the one you used here, but also 6597 when that came out). Unfortunately, all I ever got was the 6375 cargo plane and a smaller one or two person aircraft in a blue/white color scheme. The entirely brick-built planes imo look a lot better (and propably also are mor efun to build, though I can't say from personal experience) than those modern ones that use lots of large pieces. I should build that cargo plane again...I think I missed some pieces when I dug up my old Lego two years ago, but should be able to replace those from sets I got in some ebay hauls I did.
  21. The long shot focused on the hideously wonky sticker made me laugh out loud. Usually, if a set at this price has stickers, the fact gets more or less ignored in designer videos (at least that's my impression based on pure memory), in this one they make a point out of it and then basically give you the perfect 'one big reason why stickers suck' shot to top it off. I don't get it, how yould they not notice this ad just quickly replace the püart, or focus on on eof the other stickers...?
  22. Nice to read from you again. Your excursions into Lego history and trivia have always been a pleasure to read :)
  23. Nice little shop. You should get some of those bricks/tiles with pictures of Lego sets printed on them (or maybe they were stickers?). And how did you manage the 13-wide base? I suspect you used an 8 wide baseplate and a mutilated second one to get the additional 5 studs?
  24. Thanks I think if I hadn't had cimwdwc's MOC as a guideline, designing would have taken a lot longer. I plan to take the same approach (first designing it in LDD, then aquiring the pieces and building it) for my next MOC, but that will be entirely my own design, so I'm kinda curious how long it will take to get it just 'right'. I already have several general ideas in my head, but I'm sure it will have more of those moments where I go through several design iterations before getting to one that works for me. For instance on this MOC, the SNOT work around the windows got redesigned several times before I was fully satisfied with it.
