LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
joebiwankenobi replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Realistically, if we do get one it wold be a bit bigger than the one that came with the old X wing kit, but not a complete build with trees and etc IMHO. The winter wave usually has the lower price point kits. I'd imagine it to be around the same size as the carbon freezing chamber. Also, should we be discussing this here since this is the 2016 thread? -

I'd be nice if the hut included Luke's camp with that lizard snake water monster everyone is talking about whose name I cannot recall off the top of my head (Also too lazy to get on wookipedia! ) Then again, they did have a Komodo dragon on Dagobah along with some pythons and other snakes if I remember right. Admit it, you want a lego Komodo Dragon as much as I do. -
Magnificent start! The fuselage looks great with the bent hoses and pipes. The overall shaping of the cockpit is pretty spot on, too.
-
That's one of my major gripes about that model, too! Putting the huge winding crank on the top makes it look toyish to me. Then again, I am talking about a building construction toy designed for children.

Thanks for the compliments Hold! Green, the mechanism is the same as 9493. I just can't for the life of me figure out how to get the rubber bands to work on the back of the wings. Also by interior shots are you meaning interior of the cargo bay or?

Beautiful slopes!

I would also buy a set of instructions for this beast if you ever decide to do that. Now with it being around 2000 rather than 10000, it seems slightly more feasible for me to do.
-
Thanks for the clip! After seeing it in action, I think you're being too hard on yourself. It looked great on the move. Also, the interior lacking strenuous detail? I haven't seen an AT TE with as much detail in it as yours. 10000 pieces.... Woah momma she's a biggun'

Schooling is important and comes first! This blows me away that you're working on this architectural masterpiece while working on becoming an actual architect. That's got to be tough! So how much of an influence was lego in your architectural pursuits or was it the other way around?

Almost a year out on this and still working out the kinks. I've got almost everything finalized minus the laser cannons (I think they're too long?) and the most important part: working S-foils! LDD keeps pooping out on me doing some connections so the project is done until I get actual bricks. I took everyone's advice on some parts and now all the colors of the bricks you see in the model are done. Everything can be purchased and has been made in the colors seen. I switched over to the traditional nose rather than what I was going for because the parts are not available in the colors I need yet. When the parts are finally available I'll edit. Update is going to be pic heavy and will have a new thread tonight on another project I whipped up and will see about posting an LDD file for if anyone is interested. Hint on other project: CHROOOOOOOOME! Well, maybe.... Depending on $$$$$ One of the things I became slightly obsessed with was the cockpit for some reason. I have no idea why, but I wanted to make it more detailed. There's many photos online and ironically the cockpits actually were different in all three films from the OT so I didn't shoot for something to be accurate as possible. I reworked and completed the rear cargo hatch. This build was quite funky to me, but I enjoyed the result with the inverted 2x4 tile on the bottom; it breaks up what would be usually just a normal plate up build. "][/url] The new X wing canopy was available in extended, so without further ado... The moment you all, mostly myself, have been waiting for... In two words: I'm satisfied. The rear had all the gaps filled in and smoothed out. With the Engine design and the thinness of the wings, I am having a hard time devising how to get the mechanism for the bands to work. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? I'd truly appreciate it! This is what I am working with.

Perfect. It's absolutely perfect. Achieving all those angles is very impressive to say the least. I love the legs on it. I was trying to figure out what was drawing me to the legs so much as I think they're technically the same as the official model with the exception of the middle legs. Then it hit me:the feet! It's amazing to see how tweeting one small detail makes a world of difference! I can see where some people enjoy SNOT builds, and don't get me wrong they're incredibly complex and my head spins trying to figure out how they do it, but I like seeing studs on models like this. It's lego after all. How many parts went into this beast? Oh, and when the itch comes back to motorize it keep us updated! You may be shaking your head thinking "no way" right now, but you're as aware as I am that the desire comes back. It always comes back... OK. I had to edit my post. Follow Smit's links. The 4 pics here don't do it justice. It literally has everything you could think of. Troop bay, deployment doors, etc. You've killed me with your dedication on this build. Between you and LiLime's AT AT in progress I'm officially dead. Oldjoebiwan is one with the force as they say.

Hey Venk, sorry if I came across as implying you misinterpreted the discussion earlier. I was just trying to make sense of it. -

I choose to wait till the Bothan spies speak human for me to reason their meanderings. I believe noncom amazing bricks was simply expressing his opinion of what could be which was misinterpreted by Venk as what will be, and denied by commander Sci as what will never be. Oldjoebiwan is getting too old for this... -

I assume he's referring to lego revealing a beetle as in a VW and a castle exclusive set before the death star. -

Nah, the battle pack will be four Grand Moff Tarkin's with the wrong uniform color just to spite us all. Thanks for the descriptions of the Rogue One wave J2G! I'm looking forward to new Tie and the U-wing the most. -

I wholeheartedly concur and can't wait to see what they do in the film. Im still trying to picture how the s foils will work on this and like others I think the wings will open from a U to an upside down T (They'll probably flair out to the sides). -
I don't think the new X wing cockpit would work to well only because the Y wing and snow speeder cockpits are so unique. The cockpit part in use for the Y wing currently (older x wing canopy) works well and would be better if they just gave it a new print. I think they should just design a new canopy for the snow speeder. Although people I think wouldn't like it, I would prefer a one piece canopy. Otherwise, the speed racer windscreens used in the moc are better for overall shaping than what LEGO is currently doing.

Do I also see a Japanese aircraft carrier with zeros on the flight deck ?!?!

75049 Snowspeeder alternate build (B-Wing)
joebiwankenobi replied to SteveOC's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This is pretty neat. I like how with your limited parts selection you were able to create an instantly recognizable and functional model of a B-wing. Reminds me of the alternate builds they used to put on the original lego starwars sets. In fact, your creative build reminds me of the original B-wing kit. How long did this take you to build? -

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
joebiwankenobi replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm just assuming it's a red herring. Everybody's thinking they'll be imperial because the whole black=badguy trope and lucasfilm is aware of it. I know they're borrowing bits and pieces from the EU in these movies just like they did with TFA. That helmet gives off vibes of the Rebel black ops commandos aka "Black operations". You can't deny it. Take a look a this pic. Considering this movie is about the "squad" that steals the death star plans it's a possibility at least. I'm not saying that I'm right or you're wrong. Nobody has confirmed either way what the black clad troops are yet, but there was confirmation that certain black clad classic stormtroopers aka "dark troopers" will make an appearance. I just think they'll need something equally elite to tango with. As far as an $80 price for the junk planet playset, that's a no from me. You get a new fat alien minifig, an ugly "build a beast" , a lean-to that has a collapsing feature or something, and generic figs we've got before..... for $80. NOPE. I'll be openminded about some aspects of it and hope that the luggabeast thing looks decent, but I'll believe it when I see it. Let's see what news the NYC toy fair brings us. -

They've already shown black stormtrooper helmets so I have a hunch these new buckets aren't imperial. I'm assuming they're rebel special ops helmets, and if that's the case we're in for some great figures. -

After looking at leaked pics I can now see the cannons are the same on the new T70 as Poe's. No problem as I might MOD mine to look like the game. Anyone notice the mini fig line up for the advent calendar includes a snow trooper, stormtrooper, hoth rebel trooper, some figure in black garb (wonder who it is), and (what's the most interesting inclusion IMO) the cloud city guard from the UCS slave 1. Now with the carbon freezing chamber and the inclusion of this fig, are TLG dropping hints at something coming in the near future? I hope so. -

I'm aware of this. I'm just thinking maybe the upcoming T70 may have a subtle change to the cannons as well as the rear of the star fighter.
