LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
joebiwankenobi replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Okay really? I need to find a new hobby because I am critical of something. I'm critical because I love it. My first lego set was the original x wing from 1999 and it's still my favorite. I have been in this hobby sense the beginning. I actually have every single set from the line both the good and the bad because I love the line and each is unique in it's own way. I like many other people here are disappointed in certain attributes of the sets. There seems to be far more praise than criticism and I'm a critic. There's nothing wrong with that. I as well as other people here just expect more from the set designs and the figures. It's amazing to see how far the license has come since 1999 but at the same time there are certain things that they haven't learned to do right in 16 years that many AFOLs have. I understand these are children's toys first and foremost. Yes, I truly do. I actually have other hobbies than this that I take more seriously and rightfully so. However, when the prices keep increasing my expectations do as well. I'm not mad, just want to be understood. -
LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors

You know, after reading this I have to agree. Honestly, all the crazy euphoria over this is just because of the new movie I think, and after looking back at them a second or third time there really isn't anything all that special about them. I'm not falling into the merchandising trap that quickly, nope. I'm not going to be suckered into buying it because it has STARWARS plastered on the box. I will pick up two of the sets that I do like, but I am not going to buy everything because I'm excited about the new film. The figs are a little chubby on the headgear side but I will judge that after I see the film. There are new parts though in the sets I like. I'm going to hold off and see about Echo base before I rush to make any EP7 purchases. -
LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors

Your not that guy, this thread is for 2016 sets. I'm interested to see what the supposed $500 set is: Yavin IV base, Mos Eisley, Bespin, ATAT, Millennium falcon reboot? But the main issue to me is WHERE did the rumor originate from? I haven't heard hide nor hair of this anywhere online... but I may have missed something. -

I would assume it does as the back looks to be extended and it is confirmed the tie seats a pilot and rear gunner. -

WOW. These do look better than I expected! Then, I look at the prices though.... The price distribution is a little out of whack. No sets around the $10 mark. It jumps from $20 to $40 and then there are literally four sets close to or over $100. I used to like when sets were tiered at price points that made sense but this a little steep to accept. I understand that the price per piece ratio, new molds, and minifigures aren't cheap but really some of the sets like the snow speeder have stud shooters galore which inflate the piece count. Okay, sorry for the rant. On the other hand I am impressed that the sets look as good as they do and the figures in each one make sense. Some of the sets are literal army builders and that's pretty neat and unexpected. Seriously if you get all the sets related to the first order you literally have a small army . I also like the accessories they have too with the kamas and shoulder pauldrons. The ships look a lot more accurate to the film than I ever expected them to be. Oh, the new parts too are going to be great for modding sets and custom mocs. I can't say I'm getting all at the release date but will attempt to pick up the wave over the next year. These sets are something special! -

No, it will be a $500 lego sculpture to build your own life sized head sculpt shrine to George Lucas. May he and his creation receive the benefits of my hard earned labor for eons. Shaka Lacka Starwars Does anyone know how the waves are going to be distributed in 2016? We're having a winter wave, but will the summer wave get decreased like this year's because of Rogue One's impending release and merchandise expasion? -

And don't forget the special editions where they'll CG more snow speeders in for more snow speeding fun... In all honesty,I am really interested in seeing the new "snow speeder". I would bet it is Episode VII related as the new stills from the korean trailer show that the rebels will need them no doubt. -

You've been right about things before and are a good Bonthan Spy with a flawless record. I'm looking forward to D23. -

Cloud City Baby! This is good to hear for next year's line up that it won't be over the top with the force awakens stuff. My wallet has been awakened to much already... CLOUD CITY! With the spin off film coming next year I have a feeling we are going to get some more OT sets, and then there's rebels, too. Whoooooop! -

In the end it's simply economics. If people are willing and able to pay for a product they'll do it. It's they're money so they can do what they want as far as I'm concerned. It's not my problem. It's also demand v supply. At the moment, high demand / limited supply = high prices. Once the sets are officially released supply and demand can return to normal levels, equilibrium is established, prices fall, ect. Unless there is a shortage when released. Hello backorders and price scalpers. -
Whooo This is stupendous! The detail, the accuracy, and the engineering! Absolutely incredible!

This may sound really stupid but I want a UCS Darth Vader Helmet. I don't know how they would do it or how good it would look with the parts at hand but I want it.

My worst fear is that the canopy details are stickers. But considering all the problems the UCS x wing had I WOULD THINK that Lego would be smart enough not to do that on a minifig scale one... -

Just noticed the X Wing's wing mechanism is totally different.. The crank to open the wings is on top of the model rather than the back. I'm interested to see how that is designed and can't wait to get my hands on the canopy piece! -

I'm pretty sure the other pilot functions as a rear gunner. Note how the twin lasers on the bottom of the ball swivel 360 degrees. -
I absolutely love it. Really amazed at all the angles you got and how you achieved the cockpit piece.
-
If only the official set was as beautiful as this model. Nice work!
-
EXCELLENT! THE PROJECT IS STILL ALIVE! I cannot wait to see the finished model.
-
Nope that's perfect to me. I don't know what the image requirements are here but seeing the rancor up close is great! if only lego had done a brick built rancor like yours instead of the baby hunk of plastic we officially got. It looks like the arms and mouth have some movement? The face and jaw structure, though, are perfect! Bravo!

Best version I have seen in mining scale, especially with all the additional features you put into the build. You should be proud of yourself! -

Maybe that is a special type of tie? The red paint might signify this? The TIE fighters from the trailer appear to have a normal windscreen. -

Sorry for the double post but here's the official model of the new x-wing. We know we are getting a lego set of it so I don't consider it a spoiler. I love it "a modern iteration of a classic design". They unveiled costumes, weapons, props, and ship designs. There's a bunch of new posters and images coming out of celebration in CA and I thought you guys might like to see this one. It shows an imperial shuttle "like" craft that may or may not be the lead villain craft lego is producing.
