  1. I don't know where you live but here in Switzerland I would say 20-30%. That's because the big retailer here have a regular discount on toys during the summer and again in the winter. To get a bigger discount you would need some good luck and/or contacts. Maybe your local toy store puts 50% on items on clearance or has some other sales. You could ask someone who works there if there is a chance for such a discount.
  2. This would be a great set. I especially like the way you built the rescue vehicle. It's crawler (?) [the black parts] are so simple but so effective.
  3. I just finnished the build. I have to say that the box doesn't look like there is a 1m rocket inside, it is quite small and light compared to the model. The building process was clearly structured and you had to open only one (!) bag at the time (excluding the smaller bags inside one big bag). The instructions were also easy to follow and one can clearly see that this set is also buildable for non-LEGO fans.
  4. The moc itself looks great, especially the hot rod. But the most impressive thing for me is the lighting, it gives a nice atmosphere of a warm summer evening.
  5. It's incredible how many things are going on on your layout. You also did a good job on adding some green stuff like trees to make the whole scenery looking more natural.
  6. It looks great, I guess I won't go to sleep on May 31th until I bought it. Even though it's "just" a rocket, there are so many details like the moon-landing itself and the returning to the earth
  7. Nice scene with great details and I love your work with the figures.
  8. Good choice of the color for your Police Station. I'm quite impressed with the height, it seems like it dwarfs the AS. The interior with all the funny details looks great
  9. I supported this project. I hope that you will be able to do other radii of the switches in the future. My trains would look a lot better on them
  10. My opinion on trains that are regularly rolling (like on an exhibition) is that they should have a clean look. However your weatherd U30B would look great on a branch line or in a train yard where it stands unused and rusting away. Talking about the effect with different colors I would say with all the new colors we got in the last few years, it should be doable to break the color scheme in some places. If you just use a similar color, i. e. different blue plates for the caboose you could also achieve an effect. Often you still see the normal color of the vehicle, even when there is dust so the shade of the color changes but it is still blue and not gray.
  11. Since you don't have any train related sets and want to use a PF motor, I would suggest to build the bogies yourself with train wheels (note that you use the ones where you can fit a cross axle in) I don't want to seem egoistic but you might want to take a look at my LKAB IORE and it's motor: IORE Motor by StefanEris, auf Flickr EDIT: I see you already did a frame with technic bricks, I used plates with holes so that I could use "normal" bricks to build the loc on it.
  12. Good job on these trucks, if you don't mind custom parts I think a bit of chrome would look great The TV Show seems great, I just watched an episode. A very hard job these guys are doing out there.
  13. I only had some blue rails from my parents as a start, well quite a lot for a child and later got a freight train (set 7898) for christmas which was my real start into building trains. It helps because you already have enough rails to have a rolling train and some bases to build some cars. However, I never bought a train from LEGO, only bricks to build my own and additional rails. So if you can get the 60052 on discount I would buy it to start, so you have a decent stock in rails and axles to start. It also comes with a train motor which might help to start (I guess when you build technic stuff it's on a bigger scale).
  14. A really strong looking locomotive! I think the color scheme and the shape give it a nice modern looking. The decoration of the boogies is also nicely done. Now go build another one so you have a cab on each side. (Now something about the big brothers of yours) I guess that there are quite a lot of diesel engines with only one cab, I also count the American ones since it seems it's much easier to drive them "forward". On the real locomotives you want to save as much as you can. So if you're going to use several engines anyway or have a cab car on the end (especially looking at EMD F7 with it's A- and B-Units, the engine of the Super Chief and the trains ColletArrow mentioned) there is no need for two cabs on the locomotive.
  15. They look great. Good job with the stickers!
  16. I like that every store has it's own color scheme and the curved bricks and slope give this building a special shape.
  17. Thank you! Thanks, unfortunately there are still some bricks missing in lime, so I had to use stickers to cover them.
  18. You captured the shape very well but I have one thing which disturbs me: you forgot the snow plow(?) on the underside of the locomotive. It looks somehow empty on the front, maybe you could try to attach it to the boogies. I guess you did that too with the magnet.
  19. Amazing, it looks quite huge and the interior with the waiting area and the café gives a nice atmosphere. Now there need to be passengers waiting for their train and of course the tracks.
  20. Great idea, I like the modularity of your vehicle and the technic functions (pendulum axes) in a not so technic looking vehicle.
  21. Thanks, I used hinge bricks to tilt the window a bit downwards and hinge plates to make a curved look. The hinge bricks are also the reasen the window is the most fragile part since there is a smal gap between the green part under the window where they should be connected and the whole window-part itself.
  22. Thanks, it is quite stable. I connected everything on the inside and built a technic chasis which I also use for the steering. Only the front window tend to break away if it's not handeld carefully
  23. Hello all In Germany and in most of Europe, these green buses connect Cities on international lines. For me the most interesting thing was the colour, since normally long distance buses tend to be white or a not so eye-catching colour. The prototype is a Neoplan Skyliner, because I like the shape of those buses. There are only a handfull of this type operating for FlixBus since Neoplan buses are generally more comfortable than other buses and used for charter service. To build my model I used blueprints to macht the shape, especially of the dark stripe with the windows. You also may spot some bricks which I coverd with coloured paper since some bricks don't exist (yet) in lime. My bus also has a passive steering, so that you could play with it. But now for the pictures, can you spot the driver and the red mug? 24. Great details, I love the Café inside the CC. However it is sad that the interior is often hidden by walls and small windows. I'd love to see the Apple Store when you finished it, and a Police Station is also something different than all the shops and appartements
  25. For modern and comfortable I would recommend European high speed trains like the ICE or something like the Acela Train from Amtrak. Since they often are used on long distance routes they are more comfortable than commuter trains. You could also add sleeping cars since night trains (especially in the US and in western Europe) tend to be used by people who like the comfort travelling by train offers while travelling by plane normally is cheaper and faster. However, Lego already made trains from commuter trains (City) over highspeed trains (City and Creator) to night trains (12V/9V era). What about a night train in a modern aerodynamic design with some stripes in friends colors? There would also be plenty of different interiour design like a restaurant car, different kind of sleeping cars and maybe a even a seating car.
