Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
Toa Palpo replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
I just got the Doctor Strange set from my sister who works at Target and knew I wanted it(best sister ever!) What a fantastic set, the minifigs are incredible and the set itself is very satisfying and looks great on display. The "portal beast" function is actually pretty satisfying though the floating sticks don't have the range of motion I was hoping for so they really only go up and down and the inability to keep them up in the air makes them far less useful. I might swap the pin set up with a 1x1 with stud on the side to provide some friction. I must say, that Superman hair looks much better than I would have thought, I'd still prefer the BvS Superman hair on him though. -
Detroit Steel is a very odd choice indeed. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a set that contains Howard the Duck next year! All kidding aside, this does make me excited for what else we might get. I really like that they are trying to branch out with more Marvel characters from the comics. I swear though, if we don't get a Daredevil minifig I'll be pretty upset. The 3 length lightsaber blades and the Black Panther ears make this the prime time for one. Moon Knight would also be great but that's probably a stretch. That Coulson set will likely be a must buy for me. I'd guess Detroit Steel will be brick built so it'll depend on the builds for him and Lola, not to mention the price of course.

Sweet, Coulson and Lola? I'm sold. I wonder if we'll be getting other agents in it? Btw anyone who hasn't, give the show a shot. Season one is a bit rough but it really takes off in season 2.

Yup this was confirmed by Gunn himself, he was very clear that there is nothing in this movie having to do with any other tie in. I find it a bit odd and almost problematic given how intertwined everything else is and how cosmic the threat is. Aside from Thor, the Guardians are our best window into that world until Thanos actually arrives. I suppose we're kind of veering off topic but there isn't much else to discuss in this thread until we get more information about merchandising for next year's movies. I do hope we get a Thor set that includes an armored Hulk with a hammer and axe, a new version of Thor with the short hair and war paint, the Grandmaster, Hela, and Scurge with maybe a weapon rack and part of an arena wall or something. For Guardians, we don't know a whole lot yet but I would expect Yondu with a propper fin mohawk, likely just using a dark red version of the mohawk piece that already exists as well as Mantis and probably a nanofigure Groot, oh of course and a humanoid form of Ego. His planet form is probably too much to hope for sadly. Maybe if we're lucky we'll also get Stalone's character in minifig form too. I can't imagine Spider-Man will be too different from the one we have now but the Vulture will be very interesting. I get the feeling we'll be getting Falcon's wings with a new print, along with a new helmet mold.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
Toa Palpo replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
I got the Ghost Rider set today and it is everything Ii had hoped it would be! What a fantastic set with perfect minifigs(save Spidey of course) and really nice builds. I especially like the headlight section of the bike as well as the layered armor greebling. The choice to use the Chima flame pieces for the fire was genius as they alive and really give the model some character. The large flame piece like the one used in the Tanker Truck just wouldn't have been quite right. My only real complaint is the hand bars. I never like it when LEGO makes a vehicle with handle bars that a minifig can't reach or actually grab onto. I have seen some mods that use a pair of black paint roller pieces which I think would've been perfect. I'll have to Bricklink a couple myself. Ghost Rider himself is stunning. The printing on the torso is just so crisp and the silver is so shiny. Very very nice. I quite like that they made cuts into the jacket to expose the flame underneath as it really livens up what would have been a fairly plain print while adding splashes of color to match the very impressive head sculpt. I know may were disappointed that the flame isn't removable but it doesn't bother mt much as I'm never taking this guy apart. It really is a fantastic looking piece that just looks alive. I used the Infearno headpiece is what I used on my moc but it pales in comparison to this headpiece. The trans orange chain first seen in Hero Factory was the perfect choice and is in fact what I used in my Ghost Rider moc prior to the reveal of this set so it's nice to have more of those. I just can't say enough about this set so I'll leave it here. I could not have asked for a more perfect set as lifelong, hardcore fan of LEGO, Ghost Rider, and Marvel as a whole! -
I went to my local LEGO store to pick up Storm Beast, the very last set of Gen2 I need to complete it, but every shred of proof that Bionicle existed was gone. All of the sets were gone and the shelves that once contained them are now full of Ninjago. An employee gave me a voucher for free shipping since they were out so I could order it online, so that was nice. I was mainly there for the new Ghost Rider set so I wasn't too upset about it. After seeing tJtO today, I'm gonna have to Bricklink Agil, he looks great on Ekimu's arm and he actually had some relevance to the story.

I just watched the last 2 episodes. The dialog was as terrible as before but the animation and character design were fantastic. One of the most eye-catching things is watching Gali "water-bend" like in Avatar. I was very happy to see Onua be the MVP in Episode 3! Powered up Ekimu was almost celestial in appearance, which looked fantastic, I also enjoyed the parallels to Takanuva. I'm also going to HAVE to Bricklink Agil, he looks fantastic on Ekimu's arm and he had some interesting and important backstory. The ending felt rushed of course and it was so bittersweet. Just as things started to get good, they pulled the plug! It's so sad things didn't turn out the way we all hoped. Unity, Duty, Destiny. Hearing Izator speak at the end almost made me cry, it certainly made me very happy. I really hope someday, maybe years from now LEGO will attempt a gen 3 and realize that the story is truly one of the most important things about gen1's success and attempt to focus on that and an overall greater media presence. I feel like the sets might have done somewhat better if kids had an actual story to follow with characters who had unique names, that's the stuff that drew me in when I was a kid. The first thing I remember about Bionicle was getting the first comic in the Club magazine way back in 2001 promoting the new theme that would come out that summer. I read through that comic over and over again, it pulled me in and I wanted to learn more. I wanted to know more about these Toa and the world they inhabit with all these unique names for everyone and everything, it felt like a fully fleshed out world. I wanted to jump into the pages and explore the jungles of Le-Koro and climb Mt. Ihu. It's a different world we live in now and it's too bad that kids today didn't really get to experience what we did. The sense of mystery and more serious tone really kept me hooked over the years as the story continued to expand. I always thirsted for more lore and backstory, I really wanted to be apart of this wonderful world. I would often daydream about exploring the Island of Mata Nui, and later Metru Nui and started mocing and drawing more to fill in parts of the story and locations that weren't covered by the comics, books, movies or all of the extended web content and games. Having all of those peripherals was really important to making it all feel cohesive yet larger than life. It gave us many avenues with which we could expand our horizons and flex our creative muscles. I did a lot of fan art and made more movie accurate versions of all of my sets. I know others were inspired to create videos and animations, some even games. When I think back to all of the wonderful memories I have of Bionicle, half of it came from fellow fans through creativity and kindred passion. I hope going forward, this community continues to thrive and I hope we can look back on all of it with reverence. Let's not focus so much on the bad. Since Bionicle ended 2010, I've seen a drastic increase in cynicism and negativity that extend long after Bionicle's return. It really has made it more difficult to enjoy the reboot and even harder to keep coming back to the forums knowing I'll be reading walls of text from 'fans' who are nitpicking and complaining about this or that. It's just been depressing and I guarantee it's turned away a number of potential new fans. That's not LEGO's fault, that's ours. We've done a terrible job as a fan community in being welcoming and optimistic. I know it was prevalent in gen1 but maybe there was just so much more to talk about that it was easier to ignore with certainly far more topics open to discuss various facets of the Bionicle Universe. Perhaps we're all at the age and have seen enough of the world to be cynical and bitter but the younger generation is still so full of hope and wonder. We should try to remember what that was like and nourish our inner innocence to find what made us fans to begin with. Regardless I will keep coming back and trying to do my part in ensuring Bionicle survives through us, the fans. Unity, Duty, Destiny.

Wow how insanely disapointing and upsetting. I thought we were gauranteed at least 1 more year but no MOUP and no G2 Makuta? That hurts. I'm on vacation this weekend so I won't be able to see the new episodes until monday. I was excited, now watching will be bittersweet. No wonder they didn't base Makuta off of the set because there never was one. I guess on the upside, i can now focus on Marvel and Star Wars sets. What makes me mad is that LEGO never gave the reboot the attention it needed. No wonder it only lasted 2 years, almost no marketing, little inclusion in LEGO media, small budget, minimal story with little creativity, they should've capitalized on nastalgia a bit more by recreating popular characters and villains like Rahkshi, etc. I still don't have the last book and the last G2 set for me, Storm Beast. This has made for a sad start to my vacation. On top of this news its storming right now so this is just a very sad time. At least I'll be picking up the Ghost Rider set on my way home on Monday when it comes out, my hype for that cannot be contained! I feel so meloncholy right now...

[MOC][WIP][LDD] Minifig Scale Rebels Ghost Build
Toa Palpo replied to IcarusBuilds's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Very very impressive. Every detail of the interior and exterior is captured so well! -
[MOD] First Order Transporter mod (with LXF)
Toa Palpo replied to ScottishDave's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Now that's more like it! It looks pretty accurate to the movie and the sight of so many stormtroopers lined up like that is very pleasing to the eye. -
[MOC] [LXF] Minifig-scale Phantom from Star Wars Rebels
Toa Palpo replied to ScottishDave's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Very nice. It's so smooth and sleek looking while still having plenty of detail. You really make the Phantom appealing despite the lacking design of the source material.- 46 replies

That just looks like a Neomodian shuttle to me Maybe it's a re purposed one but I'll have to get a better angle of it to decide if I like it or not.

I adore the Overlord version! He even has those printed disks and the cloth pieces that look legit on his waist and weapon. It's probably too much to ask to get him as the official set but I want that! He is exactly how I envisioned G2 Makuta. I also love the Matoran Makuta hanging out at the base! That model really seems to stand out and get more attention than the rest, not to mention it gets a display stand where the others do not so I hope it's the prototype. I love the MoUP but I was hoping it would come in black or black blended with trans purple but the gold spray paint indicates it isn't finalized yet so we'll see.

Discussion: LEGO Bionicle Makuta Contest
Toa Palpo replied to Toa Palpo's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I really hope that Overlord Makuta is the official set because wow! There are definitely some unique pieces that make it seem like it is with the printed disks on the right hand weapon and those really awesome loincloth pieces. The chest armor stickers are just Onua's but darker and having a Makuta logo on it so maybe the stickers aren't finalized yet just like how the MoUP is clearly a spray-painted prototype. It looks epic by the way! I also love the color scheme, though I was expecting the MoUp to be black or black blended with trans purple. Also, confirmation that we're getting an artbook! G2 concept art has been inspiring and I would love to own a book encompassing it all. Is the book exclusive or just the signed copy? I would be very said if it isn't going to be sold to the masses. -
Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
Toa Palpo replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes and I'm ecstatic that Ghost Rider is in the MCU but furious that it's Robbie Reyes. I wonder if it's any coincidence that we got a Ghost Rider set this year or if Marvel recommended LEGO include one? I just hope this means they're saving the real Ghost Riders, Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch for the movies or Netflix were they can really shine. Reyes was never a real Spirit of Vengeance, just possessed by the ghost of a serial killer mimicking Ghost Rider's powers with no ties to the medallion of power or anything having to do with any other Ghost Rider. He's terrible and I really, really don't like him. I'm getting off topic though. I think there could be potential for a Robbie Reyes GR minifig coming with a Ghost Rider Might Micro, that would actually be cool as it would be difficult to do a motorcycle Might Micro.I'm really excited to the Ghost Rider set on August 1st when it officially comes out in the states. I was originally planning to get the Sanctum Sanctorum along with it but I guess not if it won't be in official LEGO stores. That's really frustrating. I also considered getting the Tanker Truck but I guess that isn't happening either Maybe I'll just get the last Bionicle set I need to get to complete this wave, Storm Beast. I understand exclusives but generally they are also in official LEGO stores. Is this the first time retailer exclusives aren't also offered in LEGO brand stores? I'm not very familiar with exclusives as most of them I haven't been interested in or didn't have additional funds for. -
So with the new trailer released giving us a better glimpse of Makuta, it appears we will be getting a proper titan form for him. It also appears that he has one of those printed disks with a swirling vortex print that first was introduced in the Ultra Agents line so that's interesting. You can also clearly see some shell armor around his neck area and piston add-ons as part of his shoulder structure. Based on those, he'll be pretty darn big. Almost as big as Umarak the Destroyer I'm guessing. That'll make for an awesome set! I'm betting he will have a lot of trans purple and black and maybe a hammer for is weapon but a larger, twisted version of his forge hammer from his days as a Mask Maker. edit: upon closer inspection, it appears there is a fancy disk like the one Ekimu has on his shield on his chest with a shadow trap half below that and the Skull villain armor add-on in addition to the piston add-on and some other structuring on his shoulders as well as 4 shells positioned around the disk on his chest. Based on that image, wow he's gonna be big! Possibly bigger than UtD!
-
Wow that was a good trailer. The stakes are high and we finally get a glimpse of Makuta! With Ekimu exclaiming there must be light and raising his weapon with a flash, they're making it very clear they rolled Takanuva and Mata Nui into the same character. It sounds like this is going to be an epic clash. I seriously doubt that considering they'd have the design for Makuta's set set in stone before this was made and the MoUP is clearly finalized. It looks to me like we're getting a very big Makuta that looks really awesome, at least from the waist up. I'm certain he'll have new pieces but they are probably on parst of his body we can't see, I mean we're only getting a glimpse of his head and torso. We have no idea about his arms, legs, weapons and back. Not to mention there's no way to tell from this what recolors are involved. The fancy disk on his chest is the same one used on Ekimu's shield so that's at least one recolor most likely. I really like how they shaped the torso with the 4 shells shaped around the disk on his chest. His shoulders look substantial as well with both piston add-ons and Skull villain add-ons.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Toa Palpo replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
These sets look great! I'll definitely have to get several sets from this wave. I actually really like the rugged-looking Batmobile. I wonder why they didn't give Robin a utility belt piece too? I do quite like that piece and the figs in the Joker set are fantastic. I really look forward to the other sets we're getting, personally I'm hoping for a Nightwing inclusion. Based on the trailer, we're going to get some really great sets and figs. -
This is something that has bothered me for a long time, they can never seem to do the Droidekas justice. By far my favorite droids I think you did a commendable job making something LEGO could potentially sell.

I agree, that's just silly. Now whether or not said play features are integrated well or function as intended are certainly acceptable topics for criticism. That said, I think(obviously without having it in hand) the exploding feature is rather decent. Play features that are sturdy, work seamlessly and can reset themselves or be very simple to reset are great for play and sometimes display. If I have room to keep the tanker out, it'll be displayed exploding.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
Toa Palpo replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
Sheesh LEGO are you trying to start a war!? Putting 2 Marvel sets in the DC page It is nice to get some better pictures an descriptions though. They are both must haves for sure, especially Doctor Strange for me. The tanker is meh but it has great figs. Fingers crossed I'll be able to afford the Doctor Strange set as well as the Ghost Rider set when they come out on the 1st. Ghost Rider comes first though, man I can't wait for that to come out!. -
I hope you're right! Maybe they're trying to beat leak season At any rate I'm really hoping for a classic Daredevil in an upcoming set.

Honestly, I think he should be mostly black with some trans purple and gunmetal. If we get 2 forms of him, then the purple and gold form would be alright. His ultimate form should be that of a shadow titan imo.

Future Marvel Superheroes Rumors & Speculation
Toa Palpo replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
*cough* Star Wars *cough* But seriously, I expect a new Milano is in order as well as another location based set and probably another ship. -
Yeah it's really unfortunate. I hope someday we get bigfig head and hair pieces just like normal minifigs so they can be interchangeable and allow the heads to be turned. My biggest problem with bigfigs is their lack of poseabillity and lack of parts.
