That makes a lot of sense, thanks for the post. This does make me feel a little better about the whole thing to some degree and reinforces the notion that G2 is doing what it needs to in terms of LEGO's intent for the line. I'm guessing it isn't a big deal to them that it isn't as successful as it's predecessor but it's hitting the sales quota for constraction which would be much lower than any system set. It wasn't meant to be a big bang theme, just one that fills the constraction void with a stronger brand behind it than Hero Factory. It would be sad to realize that Bionicle is a small priority for LEGO but at the same time it doesn't mean they are looking to cancel it.

Blasphemy sir! For the countless crimes he's committed on the Transformers name, he is condemned to never do another movie about another franchise ever again! Except TMNT, which is almost as bad...

I seriously doubt we'll get anything for Ragnarok considering we never got anything for the past 2 Thor movies which is a shame. Guardians 2 is all but certain though. I definitely look forward to that.

I would almost bet money that we will get Makuta and the Mask of Time will be the mcguffin next year. We'll likely get new, ultimate forms for the Toa, perhaps some G2 Rahkshi( one can dream!) likely called lizard men or some such. The real question would be the small sets (assuming the third year will follow the same pattern as the first 2). I imagine we might get another Ekimu in some capacity. I doubt very much that we won't get another year of sets as they would have had a void in the constraction lineup. I wonder if they already have a new theme planned or maybe Bionicle is doing okay enough that they'll just keep going with it. There's no way to know for sure but my guess is it's doing what it needs to to meet constractions standard sales at LEGO. They may not be amazing sales but they aren't losing money on it.

[Mod] Spider-Man Ghost Rider set - can you spot the modifications?
Toa Palpo replied to AmperZand's topic in LEGO Licensed
The gold pieces on the back of the bike look really out of place but I like the bend that you gave to the middle of the bike. The glider looks way too simplistic now but the manhole cover is a nice touch to the street section. I don't really care for the arms on GR but I do like the little hazard sign you added.- 17 replies

I have to agree. I feel like the story is what is severely lacking in G2 and the way they have gone about presenting it. G1 definitely had the right idea in how it was presented and they should have taken more cues from that. The advertising for G2 has been dreadful quite frankly. What little of it exists that is. They did not do a good job of understanding and encapsulating what made Bionicle a success in the first place and it is to the detriment of the line. While the sets are great, there is almost no substance to who the characters are and what the world is about giving us little reason to become invested or care. I feel like they really could have done a more in depth, streamlined story that didn't get needlessly over-complicated but instead they went with the bare bones approach. What we have is serviceable but it's just that, serviceable. With G1, you could see and feel the passion of the creators in every story tidbit and every animation and commercial, this time around the only passion we see is from the sets themselves and their design. The webpage has no heart, no passion, the animations do not have that same drive and sense of mystery or heart. It has all just felt very systematic and churned out. TJtO was the first instance that I felt some little spark of what G1 was, a small sense of mystery and heart in the story that unfolds in a mystical land. It was far from perfect but it was a step in the right direction. I'm just worried that it was too little too late. That being said I am doing my best to enjoy what we have and focus on how great the sets themselves are. I do hope Bionicle extends past 2017, as unlikely as it may seem to most. Until we have more info on the line's success we have no real way of knowing how well it's doing aside from guesses and assumptions.

He's a fantastic set and all the trans blue just glows. He may not have much in the way of new things but he takes everything that has come before and perfects it, which seems fitting.

This is a fantastic set and he looks great on my shelf. One thing of note, he does have a way of activating the hand functions. The Bohrok eyes on the underside of the wrists are attached so you may turn them to open and close the hands. It would have been nice if the functions image was a bit more clear about that being the way to activate the function. They may not have a ton of friction but I don't have any problems with them falling out of poses or anything. The jaw piece should have been in a different color for all the beasts imo, as the gunmetal fades into the chestplate color at a distance. Overall I feel he is one of the best sets of gen2.

I love it. Another must have for sure and a great display piece. The window is perfect and I like the portal with what I can only assume is Sheogorath. The minifigure action sticks are an interesting choice but I dig it. I do think Strange should have gotten the Superman hairpiece but the one we get fits the character well enough. -
I got UtD and Ekimu yesterday. Both sets are fantastic, I'm very pleased with them. UtD is large and intimidating, certainly a proper titan like those of yesteryear. The only real complaint I have is the lower jaw. I don't feel that gunmetal was the best choice for the color and I really wished the beasts were given a mouth snapping function rather than the mask p[op off trigger. A missed opportunity for sure. Ekimu positively glows with shear brilliance with all the trans-blue. He truly looks powerful and I love it. He really does take the main functions of 2015 and 2016 and perfects them. John Ho did a fantastic job. I like the hammer and I really like that the shield is attache to his arm rather than being held like a proper shield should be. I just watched JANGBRICKS review of the beast combo model and oh man I can't wait to get the other 3 beasts to try it out.

Well on the US end they say out of stock, will ship in 30 days and it's only been half an hour here. That's really disappointing considering I can't find them on Amazon, TRU, Wal-Mart, or Target's websites. UtD and Quake Beast are also absent from the S&H listings.

*facepalm* don't remind me.I'm so jealous you guys are getting this set a couple months early. At least can get the new Bionicle wave in the meantime. -
That's been a problem for me too. both 2015 and 2016 Kopaka sets were missing sticker sheets. I hope I won't have the same issue with UtD.

Man it's going to be so hard to wait for that Ghost Rider set when everyone in Europe will have the new sets and will talking about them. Sigh. At least there's Bionicle to tide me over until then. -

Awesome thank you! At first I was surprised by the bike, but I love it. I still think it needs some printing and I'd prefer they gave it handle bars GR could actually grip but hey. I can tell it's loosely based on the one in the current MC(artoon)U as seen in agents of S.M.A.S.H. -

That's rediculous, it's a name for crying out loud. Do people working there named Dick have to censor their names too? -
Perhaps but it's not just Bionicle. There are hardly any reviews of any of the winter sets yet and I'm getting anxious for the Marvel Superheroes ones in particular.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
Toa Palpo replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
Could you show us some pictures of the bike from various angles pretty please!? I'd love that! Great pictures by the way, man that's an awesome minifig. That is very strange, but it doesn't bother me too much as I will never take apart this beautiful minifig! Oh it's everything I've ever dreamed of! I cannot contain my excitement over this set as a longtime, hardcore Ghost Rider fan. The printing is fantastic, the flame head mold is brilliant, I just can't get over the fact that this exists, I have to pinch myself sometimes. Perhaps it's wishful thinking, but I hope Ghost Rider starts appearing more in the cartoons and maybe even in the MCU in some capacity soon(maybe even a Netflix series). Maybe it's too much to hope for but hey, if you would have told me a year ago that we'd be getting an official Ghost Rider set I wouldn't have believed you. At least there's still the Infearno piece for those who wanted to use this on custom minifigs. -

I'm very pleased with this set, I'll be getting it for sure! I don't have Vision yet and updated Hawkeye is great. MCU Spider-Man looks fantastic and I like what the set is referencing, though the truck looks nothing like in the film. -
UtD looks awesome! Definitely my favorite of the winter wave. I'm really glad we're getting a true titan set in G2. The color scheme is great, the shaping is fantastic, though the neck looks bad from certain angles and lacks a whole lot of articulation. Overall though they definitely made it work. I also like the completely enclosed ribcage, though I don't know why they went with a single gun metal ribcage when they already included 3 trans neon green ribcages in the set and it would have looked better if all of his ribs were trans neon green. The only other complaint I have is the black technic connectors used on the horns, though I don't know how that could've been improved. They're just too thin and the black really breaks up the gold as the long horns are supposed to be part of the mask. I'm also surprised that the ankles have as much articulation as they do, at least the same amount a human being does.

Storm beast looks better than I thought and the function is great, though it's unfortunate pose-ability had to be sacrificed. I don't mind the open sockets on the hands but the upper arms just look awful. That crystal armor just isn't enough to cover those long beams. I'ts also unfortunate his head can't be moved up but that torso build is something else. I'm really looking forward to UtD when he posts it.

It was awesome. My local theatre was playing it a day early and I thought it was one of the best Marvel movies to date. Way better than AoU and frankly imo better than WS. The airport set is pretty accurate the others, not so much but everything represented besides the truck appeared in the film, just not necessarily as accurate looking or in those specific scenes.

Awesome! You know, I was originally let down by Ekimu's new build because it felt so obvious and didn't make use of many new parts in interesting ways and the color scheme felt unbalanced but I gotta say, with the new cg pictures from tru and this review, I'm converted completely. What a glorious looking set. I really like how the pauldrons are angled and the trans blue really pops. The color scheme looks much more balanced in the plastic for sure and although he only uses one of the new molds for the winter wave, he uses the recycled parts perfectly with a couple recolors. He's obviously G2's Takanuva at this point and I wonder what the explanation will be for his sudden growth.
