I think the Vulture head is perfectly fine and it makes sense just to use the comic book one. It's better than angry clone, just remember that.

I agree, It's cool and all but I'm getting really sick of seeing pages and pages of speculation on the possible UCS MF. Hell, I at this point I want TLJ sets to leak early just so we can have something else to talk about. More on topic, I read that review of the Jedi Starfighter and Hyperdrivebooster Ring and I like it a little more as a result. The cockpit is still up too high but it isn't quite as bad as the standard Delta-7B desing, which of course makes sens for the 7B but not for the 7. I also like that the rest of R4 can fit inside of it for the sake of storage.

The lack of a Tony Stark head doesn't bother me at all as I would never display it with the face mask up, plus the trans blue head is a far more useful piece and I could almost build a little minifig house out of Tony Stark heads at this point. As far as Vulture goes, I fully expect an angry clone head, though I think using a Bruce Wayne head would be a perfect little nod to Keaton's time as the Caped Crusader. Regardless it matters little to me in the end as I wouldn't be displaying him without the helmet.

The booster ring is too flat, it would've looked way, way better if it was encircled with these https://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/PN/86/93273.png It's a good looking set though, even if the desing of the fighter is not nearly sleek enough. It's clearly a combination between the Delta-7 and Delta-7B which is really inaccurate. I actually like the inclusion of the clear handle, it makes the whole thing easier to hold and makes it more swooshable. $90 is also a reasonable price if that ends up being the case. Given how insane this year is going to be between the summer wave, the movie wave, the Marvel movie sets and the Ninjago movie sets, this one will have to wait for quite awhile. In fact, I'd rather get the old Jedi Interceptor with Hyperdrive Booster Ring over this one as they seem fairly cheap on BL and I absolutely love Eta-2s. I plan on getting the ones that one and the green one I missed out on a few years back to finish off my collection of them. Also yeah I love Kylo Ren's starfighter it's essentially a combination between a TIE Interceptor and a TIE Advanced. It also puts me in mind of the Fury-Class Interceptor from TOR, which is a plus as well. I can only imagine how awesome(and expensive) the set will turn out.

LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion

Wow the this wave looks incredible! I absolutely love Loyd's mech dragon, that'll be a must-have for me and fortunately it comes with the best version of Garmadon too! Overall, they really knocked it out of the park. The Temple of the Ultimate Weapon is a really great set as well and I love those lion statues coming to life, they're pretty decently sized as well. Jay's Jet looks pretty great and I love all the little details on it. Nia's Water Skimmer is pretty cool and a unique idea for a water based vehicle. I was initially disappointed by the choice of villains but now that that has worn off I can appreciate the cool figures we're getting. Destiny's Bounty, just wow that thing is a masterpiece. Man this summer is going to be very cruel to my wallet between the Marvel movie sets, the Star Wars wave, not even including whatever the movie sets are going to be, and the Ninjago movie. So many great sets! -
I think it's a decent enough wave for the summer with some variety. I missed out on the old Republic Fighter Tank so the new one is a must have for me and I think it looks great. Vader's Transformation is also a good set and of course the 2 battle packs will be must haves for sure. While I have no interest in Freemakers, it's cool that we are getting a legends vehicle as the Tracker 1 is obviously inspired by the TIE Phantom in the same way that Jek-14's Starfighter was heavily inspired by the E-Wing Starfighter so I can see people getting it for that reason alone. Plus the MOC Hunter minifig is cool. The Quadjumper still seems like a complete waste of a slot but it looks good. The 2 buildable figures are really nice too and I love that the Stormtrooper Officer is intended to also double as a standard Stormtrooper, which I'm sure most people would do anyway, it's just nice to see LEGO recognize that and essentially give you 2 possible figures in one for army building. The swoop bike still looks awesome and is certainly on my list.

Interesting. I get a feeling he's SDCC exclusive but it just seems like a very random choice for a figure. Perhaps LEGO is playing it safe by not infuriating everyone with another Collector or Spider-Woman fiasco by choosing more obscure characters. I doubt it's from a set given we haven't heard about anything about non MCU sets for the rest of the year but I'd be happy to be wrong as it's disappointing that we aren't. A good mix of movie and classic comic book sets would be ideal and provide variety. I'm not keen on the idea of not getting any characters in LEGO/games/cartoons/etc unless they are in the movies as there are way too many great characters and stories being pushed to the side. Heck, I'm still overjoyed we got Ghost Rider! On a different note, after inital reactions have worn off, the Thor sets look much better to me after giving the bright colors time to sink in. I do like the art-deco look of the arena itself with the angled lines and circles with the occasional protruding "shelf". The only part of it I'm still not pleased with is the choice in hairpiece for the Grandmaster, how could they possibly have chosen THAT hairpiece when the Dooku or Doctor Who hair pieces are clearly a better fit for the look of the character in both the movie AND the comics!? I get so sick of that slicked-back hairpiece as it just looks awful and is unfitting on any minifig that isn't a 1920's gangster.

The more I look at them the more I like them and I'm definitely still buying them but just like the Homecoming sets they could've been so much more. In regards to the arena set I'm wondering if the right side angles upward with 2 bar attachments opposite of the left side that angles downward with 2 clip attachments. If so you could buy 2 and have a full arena! That'd be cool, I could see that being a feature.

They look awesome but holy crap those colors are jarring. They are waaay too bright. The arena looks really juniors-y. I'm disapointed that Hulk's shoulderpad is bright blue because it certainly isn't like that in the movie. I'm getting really sick of that slicked back hair piece because there isn't a single movie based minifig that it has been a good fit for. For crying out loud, the doctor who hair piece is perfect, why didn't they use that?! I expected some sort of structure from the battle for Asgard but the ship looks cool if not way too brightly colored and I love the brick-built Fenris Wolf. I quite like the berserkers as I'm a sucker for black and green and there aren't many good black and green minifig parts.

REVIEW: 71018 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17
Toa Palpo replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Awesoem, I'll have to check that out! Yeah, Bloodborne is easily one of my favorite games. I'm a huuge fan of the Souls series and the Souls-like genre. I'm super excited for the Surge. -
REVIEW: 71018 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17
Toa Palpo replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The Highwayman is easily my favorite now. He's perfect for a purist Bloodborne minifig! All that needs to be done is replace one of the flintlock pistols with a Saw Cleaver made out of one of the Nexo Knight lava villain blades and there ya' go. I'm going to have to make a small diorama featuring this figure facing one of Bloodborne's many epic beasts with some of that Victorian-style architecture. -
I quite like it, though I was afraid the cockpit was going to be bulbous like that. I don't know why LEGO has insisted on doing this for the Delta 7. I'll probably pass as I vastly prefer Eta-2s and other Clone Wars era vehicles much better, like the Republic Hovertank coming out later this year(btw, are those sets slated for summer or fall release in the US? I can't seem to find that information anywhere.) I need an updated Jango Fett though... Now I really want them to release a new Jango Fett's Slave 1 to go up against this, I think we've only ever gotten one, though it'd really just be a color swap of the last normal-sized Slave 1.

So wth was the point of LEGO covering him up then?!?!? We saw him in the trailers in that exact same look. Wow, What a complete disappointment, I fully expected him suited up, not in plain clothes with only one gauntlet. For crying out loud, his legs aren't even a new print. We know from set photos he gets the suit so what gives LEGO? I'm still planning to get the set but LEGO really failed hard on the Homecoming sets, man. Let's just hope the Ragnarok sets make up for it. The minfigs at least do.

I'd be down with that (watch the show, he's the best part of season 4!) but given his comic was just canceled, the only thing that would make that a remote possibility now is we get a Ghost Rider series, even then it would have to be done in a way that isn't directly tied to it, like Coulson and Lola in the Detroit Steel set. Back on topic, Hela looks incredible, especially with the headdress! That piece is a work of art.

Kai's mech looks great, though I'm concerned that the knees may not bend. I'm most looking forward to Loyd's dragon, that may be the only set I get of the wave(budget constraints with all of the great Marvel and Star Wars sets). -
I don't expect a unique face for Vulture, heck I'd be fine with it being a Bruce Wayne head just for kicks, that'd be a delightful homage, even if it doesn't really look like him. I could totally see LEGO doing it.

Wow that Thor is incredible! By far the best version of the character we are likely to get in minifig form, I can't wait to see what the Ragnarok sets look like but based on the figs they are must-haves already.

Wow, that Bounty Hunter BP is fantastic. Bossk is a huge improvement, as is IG-88. 4-LOM looks awesome as well. I don't have the Dengar from last year so it'll be nice to get the updated one. That Republic Fighter Tank is a day one buy for me. I absolutely love anything from the Clone Wars era.

Those are incredible! I'm so very happy Thor and Hela get thier helmets, they could've easily skimped on those and I'm so glad they didn't! The alien looks really great, it's nice to get Banner and Loki is decent, his color scheme is a little off-putting to me. The new shapes of cape elements look nice and I look forward to seeing better pics of that Hulk bigfig. So far, these are shaping up to be the best Marvel sets this year! Now lets just hope the builds are as good as the figs.

[MOC] Parasaurolophus
Toa Palpo replied to General Magma's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Wow that is very impressive! The color scheme is excellent and you succeeded in making it look very organic. This is the kind of stuff I'd live to see pass through Ideas. I've seen some impressive Dinosaur models there that didn't get the numbers they deserved but this is even more impressive.- 18 replies

I just got Aeysha's Revenge and I really like it. I did not like the main vehicle when pictures first surfaced as it just looks like a submarine but I gotta say it's much nicer in hand. It's well designed and feels solid. I quite like the sliding cockpit feature and Yondu and Baby Groot look fantastic. I like the little drone too. Aeyesha looks good but I'm not too keen on the blue jumpsuit, I would've preferred a more regal looking minifig with some more gold. Starlord looks fine but honestly not a big deal for me, I have both of the previous versions but the Cap hairpiece works better for him I think. I think my favorite new piece is Yondu's fin. I can see a lot of great potential for the piece. Mine had the same issue with the technic piece so I don't think it was a flaw, especially considering they use a dark red slope piece to hold it in place. I don't really think the piece used in the locking feature will wear out enough to break it unless you slide it back and forth over and over again a hundred times a day for a couple years. Admittedly I find myself picking it up and sliding it open and closed on occasion just because there's something satisfying about it. They've used that kind of locking mechanism for years now so I'm not terribly concerned by it.

LEGO Nexo Knights 2017 Discussion
Toa Palpo replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I do hope the them lasts longer than the typical 3 years as I'm really enjoying the theme and most of the sets. I think the show has improved a great deal as well. We'll have to wait and see though. I won't be surprised if it doesn't, as Ninjago was kind of a fluke. Aside from that, I'm looking forward to the Colossus, Heligoyle and Stone Destroyer are my most anticipated sets. The last one mostly for the villain and his beast. I could easily see that being the next big bad as he looks awesome with a very Sauron vibe. -

True, but for as expensive as the set is, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a little more than what we got. -
LEGO Nexo Knights 2017 Discussion
Toa Palpo replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The inside of the castle is very disappointing, why were beds chosen to fill the space when I would think a throne room and library would be more appropriate and warranted? Besides, the knights sleep in the Fortrex so what's the point? Eh, just really bad choice on the part of the designer(s). The Merlock 2.0 mech is ... odd looking, I'd much rather have a mostly(or completely) trans-orange minifig. We know they can do it, it's just a matter of if they will. I'm also very disappointed that the Colossus's legs are unposeable. I didn't realize they were prison cells which I guess is neat but they still look pretty bad and they have no way to be re-positioned. I'd much, much rather they had better shaping and could be moved than throw in an extra play feature. Two big design flaws that hamper otherwise really great sets.
