  1. Great post! I remember being blown away when I first saw this building and its really impressive (and informative) to see/hear all that went into building it - empire state building looks great too!
  2. These are very very nice - incredible work using such a wide variety of parts and techniques to make all the windows, curves, slopes etc so accurate while also being able to make it happen at City scale and preserving room for interiors, no easy feat - really impressive!
  3. This is great - really a sleek look between the low/wide body and lack of visible studs, nice moc!
  4. Thanks guys. FactorXa, the first pic is actually the best I have of the entrance because right now there isn't much to it, just steps down to "nowhere" - I haven't done additional platforms or anything but good idea and would like to add them one day - will definitely share pics when I do Alucard1977 - big oversight on my part, this thing definitely needs some rats and a third rail (and maybe some old gum on the floor), great idea! Anyway, I think next step for me will be to get some lighting installed so that whatever I do down there will be more visible
  5. Thanks everyone. Xyver, thats a great looking setup and between the large scale and need for mobility wood and a box makes a lot more sense than what I did, anyway, really cool subway station (not to mention the bldgs above!). ER0L I really like what youve done with PF and monorail - I probably will stick with the tracks in the subway due to the car as you said but if I ever do an elevated train I'll definitely look into the monorail solution and in the meantime am already thinking about subway station lighting. gazumpty, cant wait to see what you do! Thanks Breakdown! Yeah, I always end up having to make a compromise or two unfortunately...
  6. Xyver thanks very much and good point on the stair/platform alignment. It really annoyed me initially too but all the solutions I could come up with led to other problems (too large of a plaza up top or train pushed back too far below) so I eventually settled on the "imaginary solution" that the stairs somehow turn underground/out-of-site to reach the platform. Re number of bricks do this, while it was a good number of them, most are just what you see (the fronts) because the rest aren't visible so just took whatever used columns and 1x12s/16s I could easily find to support everything (your wood solution is probably more stable than mine - would love to see what you've done).
  7. Thanks all for the great feedback - really means a lot coming from such an excellent group of town, train, and modular designers and builders! dr_spock, this is definitely what I was thinking about doing when I built the subway car and laka, you are right - not enough space for a full loop but I did build each section of the base to be modular so that if I get more space I can easily reconfigure things to allow for a loop (or more open-sided sections for additional train display, Kristel). lightningtiger, definitely think I need to add lights to make the tunnel/station "pop" - just need to figure out the best way/system to do it. stevkir, my initial hope was to do a light rail (actually mocked up a section) but ran out of room - look forward to seeing what you do. mikaelsol, I was thinking something like this could definitely be a nice (potentially easy?) addition to your town since you already have an elevated portion Thanks again
  8. Upper West Brick January 2016
  9. Quick update - instead of continuing to tweak the subway car I went a little overboard and elevated my City and built a subway station for it, seemed a little more town forum-appropriate so posted it there, hope you enjoy:http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=108396
  10. I just finished (at least for now) elevating my modulars & adding a subway under the city and am pretty excited so wanted to share pics - please let me know what you think. Quick background: I have limited space and a new lego train addiction so decided the best way to squeeze everything in would be on multiple levels. There are a few progress shots to show how I did it - I got a lot of inspiration from previous posts in this forum so thanks all! Couple more pics in the brickshelf folder too, hope you enjoy!
  11. I would love to hear advice/input on this question too. For what its worth, I ordered the CSX stickers for 60052 from laygoman on ebay and was very happy with them.
  12. I agree with everyone above, nice display case and scale, very clean looking! I also really like the sign outside, great font choice for wandin valley
  13. Nice details, I like that crack in the wall with bricks behind
  14. Looks great, very clean and professional. Really like the brick built doors, observatory and too much else to list!
  15. Great truck - I really like the double cab up front and the parts on the trailer (classic wheels and technic)!
  16. I agree - 10229 is more square but does have the wedge look so may be a good starting point. 60083 conversely has nice curves but not the wedge so I bet you could start by trying to "combine" the key design features of both. Maybe not perfect, but good starting point. With all these curves and angles, another thing I sometimes do is look for inspiration by searching Bricklink for useful parts starting with the obvious categories like "slope, curved" then moving to less obvious places like bionicle or hero factory - never know what you'll find that may help. Edit - looking forward to seeing the finished product!
  17. Welcome to the addiction! Looks like you already have some nice mods and mocs - what do you have planned for the corner next to the pet shop?
  18. I feel like the light rail may already be covered by the upcoming 60097 unfortunately but I too would love to see a subway, El, or heavy rail commuter style train - would be great for city layouts and definitely something different. Lots of good real life possibilities out there like Chicago and NY (pics below) and seems like it could be time for a Lego passenger train based on North America again (at least I hope....)
  19. This looks great - feels like the summertime equivalent of the winter village carousel, nicely done! Did you take a video of it in motion with the horses moving? Seems like there must be a cool mechanism hidden in there
  20. Yeah those rear lights made it instantly recognizable, very nicely done, thanks for the additional pics!
  21. Great MOC, I really like the use of the horn pieces as decoration at the back, nice work!
  22. Very nice layout - I also really like that gray suv/truck in the third pic, looks very realistic!
  23. Great model, really captures the original very nicely! Excellent sticker work too - how did you do those?
  24. Looks great! I really like all the classic sets in the harbor (and everywhere else) mixed in with a lot of great Mocs (cool ice cream stand near the water and shallow buildings along the wall) and nice landscaping (great pedestrian bridge), very nice town!
