[MOC] Detective's Office/Newsagent/Barber Shop modulars
PastVPresent replied to ReplicaOfLife's topic in LEGO Town
Looking great! This set clearly really benefits from stairs in the DO portion - great that you were able to fit a bar underneath, perfect addition/use of that space! -
Agreed with previous posters, im ready to vaction there now! Lots of excellent detail yet still feels "lego-y" in a good way. Trees, rusted/rotted porch roof, and nautical elements (pier, nets, etc) really stand out for me, nice work!
-
Love it! You nailed the decay, but that aside, the brownstone itself is great and youve captured the architecture and scale so perfectly this would look excellent in non-decayed form too - window surround, front stoop and gated/fence area, etc all look right out of real life NYC
-
Thanksgiving set looks great, bet Lego designer Mel Caddick did it, i think she also did the valentines and easter sets (plus many more great sets) and always seems to incorporate great pieces/colors into the vignettes

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
PastVPresent replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Would love to see this if you have pics. Im still a big proponent of the idea of selling empty cafe corner style modulars focused on exterior architecture with interior stuff available separately for those who want to add those details. Slightly off topic but i think the creator expert vehicles make a great compliment to the modulars: Untitled by PastVPresent, on Flickr -
Looks great! I did something similar with my city and think its a great solution for small spaces. Nice that you still have room for a few more modulars as well as a good size street to display your cars and shelves for the non modular stuff above, very nice set up!

Advanced Models 10248 Ferrari F40: Discussion Topic
PastVPresent replied to XAxles's topic in LEGO Licensed
These look great on top of the Marantz - lots of "functional art" in one place! -
User rafdk posted a pic of all three together on instagram - F40 seems to have a much lower roof line than both the camper and the mini, i think all 3 will look good displayed together

Just finished bricklinking 4000007 and 4000008 (pic below) - the stickers really make the truck, great quality, thanks JopieK! This project was a lot of fun and much cheaper than finding/buying the sets new, highly reccomended! 4000007 4000008 by PastVPresent, on Flickr

This is great, definitely a new concept! Love the tanks and great detail with things like the life ring on a stand and fish guts on the floor, nice work!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Hopefully not too off topic, but for those of us who like modulars for their scale and architectural detail, it looks like a surprising theme just put out the year's best set! http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=111819 -
70751 Temple of Airjitzu
PastVPresent replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Add me to the list of non-Ninjago fans who is won over by this set - looks like, as others of said, a new classic - cant say enough good things about it, incredible must-buy! -
One way to save money would be to just do dark orange for the front facade (actually not that many bricks there) and, depending on how you display it, do the back and sides with a more common color like brown or red since you wont see them much anyway

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
PastVPresent replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Very interesting....I could see the designers having fun with that, lots of potential "play value" with games inside (like it or not...), kind of ties to recent creator expert carnival sets too and could see variation on Kwik-e-Mart games included. Great questions AFOLguy1970, could be a unique corner building like the Flynns arcade someone posted here a while back ( )? Would be nice if second floor could be partial/mezzanine size or old game storage only to preserve more bricks for exterior... -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
PastVPresent replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Merman, is this speculation or fact-based? Amusement hall (arcade?) could be pretty cool based on some of the Mocs I've seen... -
JopieK, that would be great! Bricklink and brickset both listed the color as red, not dark red, so that's what I ordered, hope I didn't make a mistake or will have lots of extra red bricks! Anyway, will try to post pics of both 4000007 and 4000008 once they're done

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Flower shop with greenhouse would be nice - maybe the DO polybag flower cart was a hint (pure speculation) Re Walmart - here's one that would make a nice modular: http://www.architectmagazine.com/project-gallery/77-h-street -
Just started bricklinking this, lost control, and ended up bricklinking 4000007 too....would be great if you end up offering stickers for that one as well...

Awesome, nice to see bond in Lego - really well done, would love to see an official set one day...

WIP - Palm City Fire Department Station / Fire and Rescue

This looks great, reminds me of some real stations I've seen! Really like the color palette, tower, tall bays, and equipment - great work, can't wait to see more progress shots! -
Finally got the entire city layout running again!
PastVPresent replied to kc2dc's topic in LEGO Train Tech
This is one of the best private city layouts Ive ever seen - looks incredible and very well planned out. So much too see I but i really like the main street with rail yard behind (and extra long maersk with truck chassis), elevated monorail above and construction zone at the end - really cool. Also really like the use of the park with big apple to create a separate residential area and tracks to separate the incredible industrial/harbor/airport zone - feels like a real life city! Also great to have those shots taken from the monorail and ferris wheel - felt like i was really up in one, anyway great work, cant wait to see the next update! -
JopieK - incredible! Really glad to hear you've made the stickers available, thank you! I was on the tour this year - while objectively many of the past years sets were more interesting (vt truck for instance) - receiving the set, hearing the story behind it, and realizing that I'll probably never unbox it anyway, all combine to make me still really appreciate it... Anyway, truck looks great - I really hope to BL this, the legoland train, and the house one day

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
PastVPresent replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
"I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where, uh, Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums." Anyway, this conversation on the modulars has become very interesting I think - important point by mestari on Mocs, well written thoughts by notaromantic, can't wait to see your mod RogerSmith (I felt an immediate urge to mod my do too although I've never done that with past modulars), and I really like your thoughts on separate interiors Kermit - valentine set is great example. Otw, I hope you dont stay away for another 90 days. Great to have so much interesting comments/thinking/speculation on modulars at a time of year that couldn't be farther away from an official release... -
These look like they'll be great for all sorts of Lego sets - can't wait to hear from someone who gets one!
