  1. Wow, that looks amazing. The stickering is incredible. The front end really reminds me of a 1969 Pontiac GTO, and the whole thing has a 70s muscle car vibe to it.
  2. Oops, sorry this is part 3 not part 2. I forgot about the first episode. Location: H04 Crofter's Ridge Tags: Civil Building Previously... // PERSONAL DIARY // As we moved into the lower levels it was clear that no one was there. Given how clean everything was you couldn't guess at how long ago it had been since someone had been there either. Air filtration would keep the dust out, so it could have been quite some time or earlier in the day that anyone had set eyes on this lab. When we reached the end we came to a large storage area. There were crates and tanks for liquids that would be used in other parts of the lab. I was surprised by how much they had of some of the chemicals. Many of them were commonly used ones, but the amount present could keep a lab running for years. And apart from the chemicals being highly volatile I couldn't come up with what the combination of the specific choices would be used for. Nothing here made sense and so little of the equipment we found was anything I recognized. I told the team that we clearly needed to get a whole scientific team here as quickly as possible. The Major, however, said that we needed to ex-filtrate and use Penta-Thermite on the whole place. I was shocked, we had a lab with an unknown purpose and no one here, but they wanted to blow it up! I said that we couldn't, but he said his orders were to do just that. Asking who had ordered such a thing only got the response: "I was ordered not to tell you." Since he was technically a contractor and not an Octan employee I had no real leverage over him. He also said that it only made sense to "burn the place white hot" in case there was anything dangerous here. He sarcastically offered I could stay behind as he and the others set the charges. Despite my feelings I had little choice and we left the lab behind. I asked if we would observe from above to see that the charges went off but he insisted his stuff always works. Oddly, I noted later that no seismic activity was detected and no abnormal temperature readings were noticed on planet either. I suspect either our sensors aren't properly calibrated or a data problem. The Major said that "a team" had verified the destruction. This whole episode has left me with nothing but questions but due to security around the mission I can't even discuss anything about it with anyone, including the team I went with. The Major and his team left for another assignment and so here I am alone with my thoughts. I'll have to be careful that I don't compromise security, but I do want to find out whether our data is flawed or the sensors on planet aren't working. I wish I had been able to spend a bit more time in the lab to have a chance to look around more. Even going back to the site would be a security protocol breach though, according to the team. 3. The Stinger is the racing ship of Kaylee Gresham for the GARC. She has been quite successful in piloting the ship in her races and enjoys the ships attributes since they fit in well with her style. Though it is a larger vessel it has very powerful engines which allow instant acceleration. The dorsal mounted "stinger" is actually a heat venting system that allows the engines to operate at full power for extended periods of time with no degradation. And the large sensor system mounted on the bottom of the ship helps project the best path into her helmet and can even course correct for her if she cannot keep up with the inputs. Though still a privateer effort mostly because she is still considered a rookie, her rapid climb through the ranks has certainly gotten her noticed and major sponsorships are likely just around the corner. For now Octan's backing is largely behind the scenes. Grid:
  4. Yeah, I tend to toss the stickers since I don't really like them (vastly prefer printing). Mine shall be clean also.
  5. Hey they have to make up for their losses on the terrible Hoth set somehow! I think if they raise the price I'll have to be more selective in which figs I pick up and instead of getting 2-3 of the ones I like most scale it back to 1-2. Hopefully this is offset somewhat by more sets like the Park set with all the figs.
  6. Great scene with an insane amount of greebling details! And I shall continue to use yellow heads. I'm just not a fan of the fleshies.
  7. I didn't realize it until last night, but this is the first series I have 1 of each minifigure in. I generally just get the ones I want out of each series (and don't always achieve that even), but given the early release I just grabbed a bunch blindly at TRU initially and then felt my way to the ones I really wanted later. Picked up Dog Show judge and Hiker over the weekend and those were apparently the only 2 I didn't have. Hope upcoming series are equally strong.
  8. Very vibrant and colorful! Great rockwork by the waterfall and a nice sense of flowing water. You also nicely incorporated some action shots of the jump troopers. You have a LOT of vegetation pieces.
  9. Wow, easily your biggest build yet. I like how clean the ship is with pockets of greebling, it works really well. The ship almost has a A-Wing on steroids feel to it. Boris is pretty cute, even if I do sorta want to step on him. I think it is the nose, reminds me of a mosquito ... The action shot with the asteroids was cool, works really well with the environment. And I really like the whole radar installation. The one thing I'm tossing about in my mind is whether it works well that the landing platform is the same in both the leaving scene and the radar installation or whether it should be different. I'm not sure, at first I thought it should be different but now I'm thinking maybe in typical Octan efficiency it would be the same.
  10. The Silver Ghost is Davio Calamonte's racing boat. Though not as flashy or fast as the larger offshore series boats his speedy craft is very capable in the shallower waters. The twin screws with variable blade geometry really allow it to bite while still keeping a very shallow draft. The foglights affixed to the front of the craft help Davio see even in foggy or misty conditions often seen during the races. 10x20 grid: I know it looks like it hangs off the front in this shot, but it is 20 studs long. You can look at the front right sloped piece and see it is 2 wide by 6 long.
  11. That is one giant CLAPPIE. I kinda get a Stay Puft vibe...
  12. The only real pivot point is the shoulder, so putting the arms up doesn't really change the width much. - luckily I hadn't taken it apart yet
  13. Location: H04 Crofter's Ridge Tags: Civil Building Previously... // PERSONAL DIARY // As we moved into the lab itself I was struck by the fact that I had no idea what anything in here was or did. It looked very advanced, but like nothing I had seen before. I couldn't tell if it was alien or something we had come up with that was very advanced. And there was none of the usual machinery noise, it was so silent. Punctuated further by the lack of people other than our team. Although I did notice what appeared to be an observation room with double heavy armored glass and atomic level filtering. That observation room would keep even these soldiers out for a while and be able to fully filter anything we might use on it at the same time. But why would a lab need that level of security? The team was on alert and seemed pretty worried and edgy. I did my best not to let on that this was all completely unknown to me and that I had no idea if an errant shot would take out half the planet or release something toxic. It kept ringing in my head that no one was here, and that seemed the most out of place. Even if there were no people, being an Octan lab I would have expected robots and droids doing work, but there was nothing. The Major said we should keep going ahead to the elevator and see what was in the sub-levels. As much as I just wanted to get out of there my scientific curiosity kept me going. I also hoped that the lack of anyone or anything would continue, as the alternative seemed much scarier. Extra Pics: All the pics: https://www.flickr.c...4/shares/7Bf6tb
  14. Oh goodness, pombe is building in here too now? Wonderful forced perspective.
  15. Hmmm, can a judge take a look at my mech then. If the legs have to extend to their fullest I probably won't make it within 20, the arms are fine. I adjusted it to a point where it won't fall forwards or backwards (yes this was a pretty fine point) and then measured from there. But if the legs have to go all the way out I'm gonna have to probably make it just have midget legs since I doubt I have time to come up with a whole new mech.
  16. A remodeled exploration droid, the EXP-0913 is now a fighting mech. With modifications to the sensor suite it is able to detect electrical and hydraulic pressure changes and react to an opponent's actions almost instantly. The hands have been removed and replaced with rounded club like appendages meant to simulate the old Earth boxing gloves. Though it might look top-heavy the large feet provide a solid platform and the fast reaction time mean that it shouldn't be taking many hits. 16x16 grid:
  17. All my money to Bob!
  18. Really cool ice jet. I like how sleek it is and like Zaael said you did a good job integrating it with Bob's style. That alien looks like he is stoned.
  19. You missed the obvious joke of Spacial Olympics...
  20. The speeder is very nice and the limited usage of terrain actually gives it more prominence -- it stands out instead of blending in! The 3 dimensionality of the vehicles also really has great impact!
  21. I could be wrong, but didn't Challenge 4 already happen? *looks at number of squares in his sig block*
  22. The Nimbus Eagle is really amazing. It is overall very smooth but has some nice small detailing too like the thrusters and guns. Has a very nice bulky troop transport shape.
  23. I like the legs, very nice and functional looking. Hopefully the gun goes through proper trials, wouldn't want something like that going off prematurely!
  24. Nice photography! I like the decrepit feel of it. Seems properly overgrown and abandoned.
  25. All my money to Bob!
