  1. I'm half-hoping that white head is part of the Specter, but more the likes of Casper the Friendly Ghost than a shrieking ghost woman, despite the name suggesting something more horrifying. I can't see that head being used for much else. And it's my last hope for the use of the genie tail mold in white. Considering the playful take on the characters we've seen so far, it seems plausible. *fingers crossed*
  2. I feel like the lips/eyelash facial recognition on female figures is only there because almost everyone would assume the figures were male if they weren't there. Especially if they can't/don't have what's considered 'female' hair. It's become something of a mainstay in everything we see, whether it be cartoons, action figures or other media. So I wouldn't really blame lego for including lips especially if it's the only thing that indicates that a given figure is intended to be female. You bring up an interesting point - but because of modernized interpretations, these characters can be generalized without really affecting original variations. Especially since Lego's Minotaur has hooves and an axe, while the Medusa has a snake tail. Original mythological variations had none of those features. And that's beauty of interpretations - they explore what a character could be if their original ideas are altered, and the results are still entirely in the eye of the beholder. And it may just be easier to name all snake-ladies Medusa and bull- and cow-people Minotaurs because that's the most recognizable name for them, as opposed to Gorgons, etc., or other names that are made specifically for their fabrication. Also an interesting point. Though I'm not sure she would have udders, only a cow's head and feet. But it does give me an idea for a "Cow Lady" as a costumed figure, with a cow hood, and the udder piece being a new mold that attaches at the hip, and maybe with a cow tail at the other end. Could be quite funny if done right.
  3. I wouldn't mind seeing any of the below as a modular building: Museum Arcade Bookstore Flower Shop w/ Greenhouse Pharmacy Music Store/Recording Studio Nightclub Spa Or basically anything that isn't covered by the City theme.
  4. To me, the only thing that distinguishes the "bull" part is the horns. And those can easily be removed. But even that's not decidedly relegated to bulls, since regular LEGO cows have those horns. Not that I'm saying the mold should be re-used in this context, but it's really not a far-fetched idea. I think you were caught up on the fact that I used the word 'bull' because the word is unavoidable when describing what a minotaur is. I didn't think I needed to specify that a female minotaur would have the female cow parts. :p
  5. What about the Gingerbread Man's head from S11? Is there some Oreo Man I haven't seen yet? :p I think we'll be getting a Lady Minotaur about the same time as when we get Medusa Man. I've gotten over the idea of mythology character gender swaps as being a bad one ever since the Lady Cyclops has been around. These character archetypes don't have to keep being perpetuated as mythological one-offs of a certain gender. I guess I can understand that some people prefer mythological 'accuracy', but said accuracy is only based on fictional stories. Gender swaps of characters such as a Lady Minotaur would push the envelope and challenge our perception of these archetypes. What is a Minotaur than a man with the head (and possibly feet) of a bull? So is having a female one really that different? The idea transcends to other themes, but I wanted to use mythology as a more overt example. All that being said, the execution of the character plays a critical role in whether the rehash of the mold, and by extension the figure itself, is successful or not. Getting this back on topic to Series 14, if there's a circumstance that would warrant it, then you can bet we'll be seeing head molds being reused (including the Fly Monster). The Lady Cyclops proved to me that anything is possible in the CMF line.
  6. I'm laughing at this, imagining they're gonna zombify every CMF now. I guess it's a unique kind of rehash, but the idea loses its charm after so many of them. I'll probably only get the book if I like the skateboarder's parts.
  7. I love this! You captured the characters and Marie's love of purple so well. My favorite parts are the use of the coiled rope as the grip Hank uses to hoist himself up, and the pill bottles on his nightstand.
  8. Well, I'm still not a fan to be honest... But I may get some of them if their parts are good. But I'll have to wait and see. At least the Simpsons will be gone (hopefully).
  9. Is this a joke? Now I'm picturing Mickey and Donald head molds on the minifigure bodies, which would be no less creepy than the Simpsons ones... As long as we get a diverse series each year, I guess I won't complain about it too much. Having themed series like the Simpsons every year is now the norm, but it's something I'm still getting used to since I'm not a fan of them. And I'm also not a fan of Disney, so such a rumor only means I will most likely be saving my money for the third consecutive May.
  10. Maybe the (female) Spirit/Specter/Phantom will have the dress slope for legs a reversible head with two faces? I'm hoping the Zombie Pirate Captain has a pair of epaulettes. And based on the leaked figure, he'll likely have a plume for his hat and a sabre, though it looks as if there will be no hook hand. A beard might be cool... but I haven't seen many zombies with them.

  12. Though the City Square set is detailed, the only part I really like is the little coffee shop (especially the barista lady and the Coffee Chain sign). The rest of the set is pretty cool, but not really to my tastes. I'm seriously considering asking Lego's Customer Support if I can buy a spare sticker sheet, instead of having to shell out $190 for it. Then I'll just wait for when the barista lady becomes more available and I'll probably Brinklink the parts. The decoration on her torso is fantastic.
  13. Ooh, this is cool. The first image of him didn't really do it justice, so it's great to get more views of the plant head mold. It happened last year with Series 12, so it's not really that surprising unfortunately. But there does seem to be inconsistency as to whether this series is going to be released in September or October, based on this catalog that Mr Greeble posted and Robert8's catalog image. .
  14. While I won't change my vote, I'll admit the newness of Series 13 enamored me, but I still consider it my favorite. I did manage to decide on a close second - Series 11! Series 11 had a bunch of new ideas, great counterparts to previous figs (which I really like to be honest), as well as awesome accessories like the cat, tiki mask, rope, ice lolly, welding torch, science flasks and saxophone. I was never able to complete it until recently, however, so I wasn't able to decide this as my second favorite with certainty until now. I also have a new top 5: 1. Yeti 2. Island Warrior 3. Spooky Girl 4. Goblin 5. Scarecrow
  15. Interesting that you mention plastic cape-wings for the Fly Monster, since it would be the first time they showed up in CMFs. But it may be a possibility considering the Spider Lady's cape is transparent and could also be made of the plastic, even if it would be too bulky at the neck. Those are the same wings used by the Galaxy Squad aliens. As such they feel a bit too technologically-advanced, and as you said, too square for the Fly Monster.
  16. I'm thinking the Gargoyle's wings will be a new piece, attaching to the neck, like the Fairy wings. I only say this because anything else would either be to large to fit into a CMF blind bag or, as 8BrickMario mentioned, too complex of an assembly typical of CMFs. It's certainly not anything new for them to do a new headpiece and a new part that attaches to the body, like we saw for the Lizard Man or Unicorn Girl. It just means the Gargoyle will likely be without an accessory. Similarly, I wonder what the Fly Monster's wings will look like. The Insectoid wings from Galaxy Squad look too tech-y, while the CMF Fairy wings seem too dainty. If the latter were to appear on the fly, they would likely be trans-brown.
  17. I'm willing to bet they'll be awkwardly sold through to December while we wait for the next Series. It's a shame they won't be out until October, since it gives the Simpsons figures more undeserved shelf time like last year. Based on the fact the background line graphics can be seen through it, the Spider Lady's cape is most definitely transparent. Not too sure how they pulled that one off, though. We saw transparent-like cloth pieces with the Hobbit's Mirkwood Spider set, so we may see something here along those lines in terms of material. I personally like how the Skeleton Boy is printed. Based on what I've seen from all Lego figures, there's no way for printing to go all the way down to the feet on the front sides of the legs. Any attempt at printing there would look incomplete, cutting it off at the shins. Printing the bones on the side of the legs is thus the only alternative to no printing at all. I love, love, LOVE his pumpkin pail. I've been using the leprachaun's pot with a handle to simulate a chamber pot, and now we see another great use of the two parts together. Great to see the witch with a broom and a cat. One of my must haves for sure. The Rocker, on the other hand, I will most likely skip. Can't wait to see the rest!
  18. If the Witch does get a broom in addition to her black cat and cloth skirt, then it would be a nice bonus. I could see her without one, too. Maybe the ghost/specter would get a ball-and-chain, or perhaps those lightning-bolt pieces in a new color? Would the Zombie Businessman get a hairpiece? I'd leaning more towards no. Probably a briefcase and newspaper for accessories, though it's a bit formulaic. I would be down for the Reaper to get an hourglass or a scythe. Both sound awesome. Also wouldn't mind the Lady Vampire getting a new version of the vampire cape, in two parts like the Wizard, so it's easier to fold. That and a Bellville-style goblet. I'd like to see Bigfoot get a ham piece with a bone sticking out of the end, like the Butcher's steak, as an accessory. That would be nifty.
  19. Lego is all about fantasy violence, where the figures just break apart, free of blood and gore. For this reason I can see why they haven't introduced a red version of the flask. However, they've included body parts and even a shrunken head in some liscensed themes I believe, so I don't see why it would stop them here, but who knows. Maybe it'll happen eventually. It's just that it's the #1 color variation I want to see, whether it's solid red or trans-red, so not seeing it in a theme that it would be perfect for kinda stinks. I skipped most of Series 10 for that reason as well, though I am kicking myself for not getting a Bumblebee Girl. I want those wings... "Monsters" is a broad concept with many interpretations as to what a "monster" is, as you can tell by Lego's selection of 16. Many of the figures seem to touch territories of other themes, as Robert8 mentioned. So if they were to create another series with a certain theme, they would have to have at least have winks towards other themes so there's some diversity within. I don't expect Lego to ever make a Western or Pirate theme since those seem too restricting to me, as there isn't enough creative space to make 16 unique figures. This series at least has some nice variety of "Monsters," except for the Zombies, so I can't complain too much about it. I agree though, LEGO saw the opportunity to take a risk, and it definitely has to do with the September release being so close to Halloween. It's the same reason we saw Santa in S8 and the Gingerbread Man and Holiday Elf in S11, because their releases aligned with holidays that were best suited for those figures. I think the problem for me was we saw the "worst" figures first, so that may have caused me to have too much negativity early on. On another note, Lego sure does love their new headpiece molds. I'm impressed by them for sure, but I hope they at least introduce one new holdable accessory in there. I'm interested to see what certain characters would be holding as accessories, like the Fly Monster, Gargoyle, Tiger Woman and Man-Eating Plant, or if they'll go the way of the Hot Dog Man and Unicorn Girl, where they have enough appeal or details that a holdable accessory isn't necessary for a successful figure.
  20. This. There are some good ones to be bought, no doubt about that. But I can't help but wish for them to be sprinkled in series with figures from Space, Castle, Western, Town, Mythology, and other themes. I enjoy this theme because of the multitude of characters it provides from various themes. Regarding rehashes - I'm fine with them as long as they designed well and have something that's unique about them compared to their predecessors. Keep in mind many people haven't been around since the theme's beginning (I didn't start buying figures until around series 8), so they may miss out on older series. When Series 13 rolled around, I was stoked to get the Samurai and Disco Diva because I missed out on the Samurai Warrior and Disco Dude in series prior, and felt they were better than their predecessors. In my opinion, the Horror Rocker and the Crazy Scientist are examples of rehashes that are just poorly designed. And I find myself despising them because of specific details. I've already mentioned the Rocker's guitar, but I'm not a big fan of his torso or legs either. I also hate the Crazy Scientist's Pepto-Bismol flask. They had so many other colors to choose from, and they choose solid pink? It doesn't bring to mind anything related to the Horror or Halloween theme like green, orange, or even purple would. I know it may be a lot of fuss over details, but it's those kinds of details that help me decide if I should buy those figures in the first place.
  21. Great to get a full list. Those headpieces from the Fly and the Gargoyle look amazing. Excited to get a Grim Reaper as well. The Rocker is fine for what it is. It is nice to get the dual-molded arms in those colors, as well as that headpiece without any bandages or pins keeping the scar closed. The head is useful if you aren't looking for something so zombie-like, which is more akin to previous Frankenstein's Monster minifigures. The only thing I really hate is that specific guitar. I don't really like that mold to begin with, but it has to be in red? We just got a red guitar last year!
  22. You can also kind of see the two-plastic legs on the Lumberjack-turned-Werewolf and the Zombie Pirate Captain. At the very least, the color on them looks too solid to be solely prints. We probably didn't see these kinds of legs with S13 or SS2 because the technology wasn't available when the figures were being designed. So the fact we're seeing them here for the first time has slightly piqued my interest for this series. And it makes me excited to see what else comes to fruition with this technology...
  23. This image shows it, albeit not very well, but you can still tell it's two plastics: http://www.brickheroes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/76037.jpg Color me surprised. I did not know about this until now! Not bad at all! Now we won't get anymore Lifeguards with bare backsides!
  24. Tiger Girl is definitely a "Monster" if you consider her to be a half-human, half-tiger. If you consider her to be a costumed character (which she seems more likely to me), then I'm not so sure. Regardless, the theme of "Monsters" is a term I find to be used rather loosely, just based on what we've seen so far. It's just a term they're using in place of putting "Halloween" anywhere in the product name, since that's what this series seems to be based off of and, given its estimated release date, will likely be marketed as. And as mentioned, the official name still hasn't been revealed. However, I'm not too keen on it being named "Spooky Series," since the figures revealed aren't really all that spooky. Most of them seem to have a friendly demeanor, actually. None of them are spooky to the caliber of the aptly named S12 Spooky Girl. I'm still hoping for a Ghost minifigure that uses the Genie tail piece. It would certainly be a great application of that element, since I doubt they'll be making another Genie anytime soon... I was looking at the figures on Brickipedia, and some of the pages of the revealed figures say they have two-toned legs? I thought that wasn't feasible. We don't get to see any of their backs, so this information seems misleading until it's actually proven as such. The Simpsons Series 2 didn't have any two-toned legs, so I seriously doubt this series will, either.
  25. I can't seem to replicate this on my version of LDD... I'm only able to attach one element to a minifigure neck, regardless of what it is. Your example may be an exception, since the parts themselves don't physically overlap in the program's rendering of the elements. This would obviously not be the case with other neck elements like beards, capes, and larger armors. It would stand to reason that the epaulette and backpack combo in kangmingjie's post would behave the same way in LDD as it does with your shoulder armor and neck bracket, but unfortunately it does not. In any case, I would also like to see a "stacking" feature with certain minifigure elements that attach at the neck, as well as a feature that would "condense" parts attached at the waist and neck so that there aren't any gaps. The textile elements in general aren't exactly friendly since it's hard to emulate them like you would the ABS or soft plastic/rubber elements. Increasing their malleability on LDD would be nice, but I wonder how hard it would be to implement. To that end, would it be worth implementing such malleability since the only textile elements I can find on LDD are for minifigures?
