  1. That is a really neat premise and evolution
  2. I really love the concept but its a shame black doesn't photograph well. Can't see the detail of how you built the chair.
  3. Ah!! It looked like a tire but there were no treads. Nice =)
  4. I don't like it, because its creepy! But I like it, hehe. Nice rock wall and spider leg/body. What is the large black piece you used for the bulbous body?
  5. So if the interior of the building doesn't have to match what is on the exterior, can I build 4 different 24x24 builds on a 48x48 base plate, take 4 photographs from angles such that each build looks individual and have it count as one build? I'm not actually for this, I just want to know.
  6. I like the idea however something about it feels post-apocalyptic. And I think your pictures are fine! I like the shot down the street at the lone knight.
  7. I wasn't going to except then I saw the extension and started building but I'm not going to finish. I will be lucky to get one of the three done, although I had what I thought was a great idea for #2 lol! I hope a few of you manage to finish, three builds is a crazy amount the size everyone in the guilds tends to create.
  8. Lovely builds but I'ld like to see the back side of them to see the various scenes are part of the whole build.
  9. Yes that tower is great, it looks extremely sturdy and seige-worthy. I am working on one at the moment and fiddling around with ways to cover the sides. Why are there orcs side by side with knights? Or was that just for the photo. I guess that's why it's a teaser!
  10. Yes I wrote about the colours on flickr but not on here. I have to obtain some pieces. When I build these brick built creatures they always start of shades of grey with black since I find those colours have the greatest variety of pieces. I'm thinking of going dark grey for the legs, although right now they look good standing out (I hadnt wanted this build to have any normal green in it at all, all the vegetation is going brown/grey/olive/dark green maybe if I can manage it). I need olive green bottom of the shell 4x4 wedge pieces, then the top where its light grey currently was going to go reddish brown and dark red. However reddish brown 2x3 wing plates are expensive so back up plan would be dark tan, but it wouldnt pop as much :( The red tone would look great with the olive green I think. Suggestions welcome!
  11. It appears that the magic Victor is using in the vicinity of the The Fortress of Mizia is draining the landscape of life. All vegetation is dead or decaying and there is little to no wood available for large seige engines. Other options have to be found. In an attempt to find a different way of waging war, I researched the techniques of our new neighbour, Varlyrio. Vague stories repeated by traders to the Inland Sea suggest that the minotaurs who live in that region have enormous beasts that live near what little water remains there. These beasts can travel by land or water, armoured with a hard shell carapice they form formidable war engines when outfitted with artillery. It is to be hoped, that as the minotaurs hire themselves out as guards and mercenaries, so may we be able to hire them and their beasts for our seige.
  12. But, but, that's 500E you could have spent on lego I guess it is important to be able to share what you make though. hehe.
  13. I love the idea that they diverted the river. If you can convey that in the still wet/muddy or rock pool bottom of the river then it will really pop visually.
  14. I like the way you made the grate. I know you said you were lacking dark green but looking at the WIP I keep thinking the green and brown should be reversed as it would be brown banks and green fields as the river is dry.
  15. Absolutely gorgeous in its ramshackleness. I love the slanted walls and the beams visable through the plaster. That window frame is so fun.
  16. Welcome to Historica jeroenaa. I like your signature ;) So here is the first picture of my battle scene WIP for challenge six. At the moment this is all about loving the olive green bricks!
  17. I don't know if you have the pieces, but an alternative to using tiles to make cobblestone/rock look could be to have the base of the river bed be made of bricks lying down on their side. Make sections that are edged in slope bricks and each sections slope bricks match the one next to it but place them slightly apart to form deep cracks downwards. I would suggest the dry river bed will be lighter than the rocks of the sides.
  18. Is the riverbed dry? Or was I looking at the wrong pictures, with the mitgaardian soldiers walking along it. Looking forward to seeing more =) I love WIPs
  19. Poor, poor generic soldier #3, hehe. What happened to picture three? I see it with its saturation skewed.
  20. I too really love that you did the same technique on the walls as you did on the path. This build has a great feel to it.
  21. Aww thank you! That is wonderful encouragement. I love seeing all the builds here, they are some of the best around.
  22. I went searching for a Slope, Inverted 45 2 x 2 Double Convex in light blueish grey and couldnt find any. Go to look it up and I still can't find one existing !?!?!?? I am floored. Either my bricklink search foo is on the fritz or lego has never created a castle with an inverted corner? This seems bazaar. Oh well, I'll turn one row upside down and use upward facing corner slopes. What a faff!
  23. Thank you! Fantasy builds really are where my first love is. Thing is I wasn't going to do it because I knew I couldn't get it done for the end of March due to a very busy real life in Dec/Jan even though I had a few ideas I really did want to try! So I'd just been reading the boards and chatting occassionally. But then they give one more month and suddenly I'm wishing I had have started in February!!! Because three mocs in a month and a half is insane for me. I barely get one done in that time. I have plans for the other two but do I have time? Who knows. If nothing else I will have the battle scene complete and a free build. I need to bricklink some specific coloured pieces. I am having so much fun fiddling around with my substitute for the trebuchet. I didn't have enough distance for the trebuchet I thought the build needed, it wouldn't have been the right proportions. You wouldn't have an enormous seige machine in range of the walls after all. So then I thought about animal mounted seige machines and liked the elephant idea but didn't want to do an elephant. Then I thought about a computer game called guildwars that I used to play. So if any of you played the second expansion of the original version, you might figure out what I'm up to =) Once I get his head on I'll take some pictures, but I took a break to work on the walls.
  24. Yes its going to take some creative use of posing to hide different torsos or matching capes and helmets but not underneath to get units of similar troops. Looks like I'm going to be breaking into some collectible minifigure packets and my kingdoms chess set that I'd been keeping mint until just such a build needed them.
  25. I came across this while wandering.
