Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion
Sir Stig replied to Darkdragon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yes, of course :D Just make you signature figure and sign up, and you get 25 DBs. You also get 10 DBs for the first two MOCs each month. There are plenty of opportunities to get a flying start. The main challenges are a good way to start earning early. Nova Terelli have a big price pool for building there this month. Look around and you will find many more offers. You also get a free choice of ship up to and including class 2, and one free small property of your choice. Have fun. -
[SR - FB] Crazy Julio's Gem Emporium (Small artisan)
Sir Stig replied to Gulagurag's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Seconded! Early GRS system? I wonder if he gets enough light with those candles, but I guess he's just THAT good -
This is what I have found so far: Jan: Licence expences 60 seems correct, but I did an error transferring 25 dbs for upgrade of free licence to medium (adjudication form sent earlier), so the transactions x70 should be 10 instead of 35. Weave of Fate Feb: Licence expences s69: says 25. Should be 50 for dock storage (commerce bonus) + surgeons office (artisan). Licence yield s70: says 14. Should be 19 for medium factory with factory monopoly bonus (15) + small residences 1 and small residence 2 (2x2). March: Licence Expences s69: Says 40. Should be 50 for Town Hall medium commerce with bonus. April: Automatic free build o70: says 0. Should be 10 for the winged wisdom 2f free build (not licenced). It says may 1 on the free build entry list return, but it was posted 29 april. The time sones are wrong on the entry list. I am at GMT+1). The yield from properties are wrong all the way because of errors in january, and probably february and march. The factory bonus should be there all the way, the commerce bonus does not kick in until later (after it was implemented) Commerce buildings are one small (dock storage, and one medium (Town Hall). Factory is the Weave of Fate. The Mayor pay seems to be there, but under transactions. This is understandable since MCTC mayors gives part of the mayor pay to the firm. Or get their part of the pay through the firm, however you want to word it. If it causes problems it may be possible to get the mayor pay directly, in the right coloumn and we can transfer back the part that goes to the firm? If it helps with automation and tidier account summary. Thank you for setting this up, it made it easier to troubleshoot.

[MOC] The Greenville brewery company, est. 1927.
Sir Stig replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in LEGO Town
Freakishly awesome. I love it. Old factories (old buildings in general) touches something deep within. I think it is the hope for a better future, with less strain on the working man. I dunno. Anyway, great build. It warmed my old soul. -

Wow! This turned out a thousand times (or) more than I could ever imagine. This is insane. A special kind of madness. MCTC Madness- 32 replies

Good story. I liked the furniture, especially the chair. And the clutter on the desk, including the candle.

Skaday soon, I believe. More ships, more work, more time. It has been the 3rd or 4th each month. I understand if it takes longer, but the suspense is killing me.

Great proportions, that does indeed make it look bigger than it is. The cupola and widows walk is a marvelous architectural detail. The road and statue are also top notch. Congratulations on becoming Governor! It was an honor to partake in the celebration.

[OL FB1] Master Luhhans Forge
Sir Stig replied to robinnilsson403's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The angle on the pipe does make it look a little weird. I imagine you don't see that as well in real life. As a smith I appreciate a clean workspace, although it takes a lot of discipline to keep it that way. Good routines helps, but it is easy to let it slide, especially if you are experimenting with new techniques or going with your creative flow. A good sized ambolt is one of the essential tools that makes the work go much easier. I really liked the raw steel rods and work in progress pieces. Edit: And, yeah, the roof... -

Is it just me or does these pictures load seriously slow? I like the cartoonish look on the ballon phlogisphere. -

I first thought "better lighting", especially for the first two pictures. In the last one it actually works to your advantage, setting the mood for the scene. -

[SR-MCRA Results Apr] Freddy's Big Haul
Sir Stig replied to MKJoshA's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Simple, but effective. Great that you MOC'd a record breaking MCRA. And I agree on the good posing for the rowboater (I'm gonna start using that word, if it exist or not.). Edit: It exists according to Wiki. -
OOC: I love all those trinkets hinting to areas of science in his laboratory. Some Medicine/Philosophy (skull), Alchemy/Metallurgy (gold crystal) , Nature (frog), vials, potions and so on. The lamps (if they are lamps and not glasses with formaldehyde) on the wall are effective. I wish the cabinet was at least a little bit taller, if only to fit a few small drawers underneath the books. IC: Your endeavors in getting things to lift of the ground are amusing, although I see no practical use for it. It surely can not lift ships that are too large to carry, I presume. Could this invention of yours be used for harvesting very tall trees? As it gains weight she comes back down again, if I understand your concept? Or to put it in Eslandolan terms: Could we save spendings on banana salaries to the current workers? Colonel Oystridge Major of Bardo

[ESL - FB1] The Nova Terreli River Port
Sir Stig replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I am certain I commented on this, but I must have forgotten to post it before. There is so much to like here. Great colorful scene of a tropical river port. Enough detail to break up the buildings somewhat plain texture (on their own), and their combination makes this a lovely build. I love that toll booth in both idea and execution.- 19 replies

Like the Winged Wisdom, this was made in january. They were intented for replacement for The Bright Owl, but she have survived longer than suspected. She is also built on an unusual hull, and I have plans to set her up with sails, maybe something like this. I tried to focus on lines and cover studs to create a sleek looking vessel. My intentions was to build a 2F. I think my photography are slowly improving on some of the shots. Lighting helps a lot. Mental note: take more photos during spring and summer... C&C welcome. Manuel Burro (See last picture) does not like to talk about his past. It is said he was a boson under Bloody Bill, but he will not confirm nor deny it if confronted with it. What matters now is that he commands the Silver Scythe, one of the fastest small vessels ever seen. It is rumored that it was built by a mad Oleon shipwright that delved with dark forces to get knowledge that could protect against Poseidons wrath. It is hard to say if it any truth to the tale, but she has proven her speed and agility running goods for many "independent contractors". I forgot to remove the temporary sail test. A tight stern. Without mast. Play features. Possibillity for different set ups. Experienced crew. Ariah Bellafonte, Do it all: Soldier, sailmaker, gunner, singer, chef, you name it. Manuel Burro, Although he often claims "I am but an ordinary man trying to make a living", he is the man in charge. Selecting crew, renting out his vessel and keeping an eye on the horizon. Knows what to expect from the WGS, and what the WGS expects from you, he takes his job very seriously. Gunnar Nelson, Gunshot specialist/Bombardier. Had to learn the trade by himself through trial and error. Because the last captain did not understand the difference from the name Gunnar and the term gunner, he was ordered to gun duty. After he lost most of his hearing he finds tranquility in his job.

Winged Wisdom I guess this is too small to be a class 3, but I tried to make a Caravel type ship. 2F? Not licenced yet.

I tried to make a caravel with this one, on a prefab modern hull. I intend to have this on my shelf for a while (since I can not use those hulls for anything else), so specific advice on the rigging is most welcome. I will make the rigging properly before licencing. Other C&C are also welcome. And lastly I have an overview picture without sail and with a sneak preview of my FB2, The Silver Scythe.
