I like this layout particularly the large number of ships. The land also looks great, but is a bit scarce. Based on what i hear I look forward to more land in the display next month. Great job representing the pirates theme! I would be amiss to not mention that I liked the short story clips you did in the beginning. It was a fun way too look at the display.

[COR - Octoberfest] Highland Sword Dancing
SilentWolf replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This build is very fun and looks great. The bagpiper is a great figure. I like how you did the base of this build and the facade of the building looks appealing. I think it may be my eyes playing tricks on me but I can't decide if that is tan or gold trim on the building. -
[SR - MCRA] Jun-Sep '616 - Business as Usual
SilentWolf replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This method of rock work looks really good in this larger front. I think maybe it just melds together better than in the smaller build. Anyway I really like it this time. The dock is the eye catcher here. It is nice and long, as well as varied to make it realistic. Like the part usage of the chocolate frosting. This build is paired with a well written story. It makes me look forward to finding out the mystery of what made him smile. Keep up the great work. -
[ESL FB] Three Flowers Inn - Trador
SilentWolf replied to Maxim I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Oh! Those are flowers on the roof. I have never seen that before. The effect obviously works well because I didn't realize I was looking at flowers at first. This almost looks like it would fit in a Christmas village with the coloring. The design also looks great. My only question wold be where the daughter is. You mentioned her in the story but I didn't find her in the pictures which made me feel I was going crazy.- 6 replies

I picked mine up a week ago and will hopefully building it yet this month. I am going to combine it with my own version of a Christmas train I designed last year so hopefully will have both running around the Christmas tree this year.

I would love to see a revitalization of the wild west theme. The original western sets came out right as I was slowing down on buying sets, but when I picked up again they were some of the first things I bought. I have always been perplexed that they never focused on things like cattle ranchers and rustlers, or panning for gold. Though with the introduction of cows and some CMFs that work toward those ideas we could do our own. If Lego reintroduced this theme, I would like to see more of that aspect of the West examined. Also the wildlife would be great to see introduced. Sadly, I fear that as others have pointed out the failures of recent Western themes has created a hindrance to its future. I guess I will keep building on my own, and hope with the rest of you that Lego changes their mind.

Wild West - Trains, Town, Military and mini-figures
SilentWolf replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I have enjoyed perusing this thread before, but just saw that there had been updates since I last looked. I am liking the progress and expansion that is going on. I love the Wild West theme, and am always thrilled to see some nice Western Mocs be either digital or real. Keep up the good work.- 109 replies

That is one crazy mining method! Good luck to their endeavors. I am really impressed with how the water turned out. The black plate under the clear gives it a nice look especially per the islands description.

This is a beautiful building. I like the details that went into the texturing. The edge of the roof with the exposed studs works really great. I also like the windows in the roof. I re-looked at the referenced builds. It is nice to see tying in of previous builds and people. It definitely improves the story aspect of BOBS.

[COR - Oct FB3] Salt Pork Factory, Mooreton Bay
SilentWolf replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great to see the combination of builds creating new builds! This is a great factory. Some of my favorite parts are the fleshy hands for pork, the hanging pigs, the recessed building, the removable wall and roof. My only critcism would be that the ramp is a little steep. But other than that technical aspect I love this whole build.- 12 replies

That was what I thought of also! Nice job on the silver mine and yes those crystals work great. Though that is some heavy security.

[SR-FB1] - Oct '616 - Improving Prospects
SilentWolf replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I haven't seen this mountain technique before. It has a lot of potential when bricks are limited. On yours, I like how you did the section of dark rocks (shadows?). I look forward to finding out what Liza found. -
I like the color scheme. The white really works well. The furled sails are a great technique that I think adds a lot of character to ships in general and this one in particular. At first glance the usage of fences for the railing looks great. Once I study it a little while I am not as sure of the picket and chain link fences. But it definitely gives a great first impression so I'm torn on the concept.

I really love this beach scene. I haven't quite figured out what makes it stand out so well. My favorite shot is the bird's eye view. The beach just has the perfect shape that draws my attention. In addition, the minifigures are posed very well and the beached boats look realistic. The vegetation is well done. I especially like the bushes the soldiers are marching past. (Nice usage of the new palm pieces.)

This is a neat story and scene. It's great to hear that the Eslandolians are protecting their Oleon neighbors from the King and his lunacy. On this build, I like the balcony and the window techniques. The crowd is a great variation of minifigures as well. The ruffians definitely look believable.

[ESL - FB] The Apple Cider smugglers of Trador
SilentWolf replied to Maxim I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Eslandolians smuggling... what has the world come to? The shack and dock are done well. Ithe soberly looks like a smugglers shack. The canoe is definitely the highlight of this build. I love how long it is and the amount of cargo it can hold. Great job! -
Great posing of minifigures and that is a great building! I like the windows and the texture near the roof on the outside. Great piece usage for the inkwell. I think a coat rack works great but it could have been over further so it didn't obscure Montoya and the desk. Great job on the story as well.

On the MOC, I think the roof, the scroll, and the crowd are the best aspects. My only criticism would be the wall gets bland as it goes up so high. Adding more windows or texture of sobe kind would help. On the whole though this was a great MOC. The scroll and the declaration are both great. I like the usage of wording from the other great historical documents pre-Lego world.

[ESL] Proclamation of Pontelli
SilentWolf replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Another city following the great Thomas Brickerson's wording. I am intrigued what Eslandola is up to. Dangerous times for them. Revolution AND war with another superpower. I like the minifigures. Great variation and fun usage.- 7 replies

A Quick Eslandolan Lesson on Profit!
SilentWolf replied to Garmadon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like the way you cut away the building and roof. The posing of kicking in the door is also exceptional. I would be amiss to not praise the inclusion of the chicken and the Eslandolean money(banana) loving monkey.- 13 replies

This is a great and fun build. The water is well done and the ship coming out of the mist is a great idea. Does he need a new bear while we ship nightcaps?

The Least Dreaded Pirates visit Astrapi
SilentWolf replied to Capn Frank's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I am certain these pirates don't do anything. Also, they have never been to Boston in the fall. The reference made me laugh. On the Lego side, the build looks great. The ship is done wellast and the dock looks great. The pier front also does a great job adding to this build. -
[COR - CH4A] Traitor at the Livery
SilentWolf replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The modularity came about due to needing to photograph inside. I did have issues with stability though which my inn attempted to fix with its modular construction. This is one of my longer stories and I am pleased you enjoyed it. I was excited to use that faun torso finally. Thank you! I enjoyed connecting to the other challenge builds. Thank you! I am working on figuring out how to make the carriage stabler so I can use the design again. I also was pleased with how the texturing of the road worked out.- 14 replies

Thank you! I am definitely attempting to avoid the all brown buildings so a little bit of the brighter colors definitely helps. Thank you! I did have struggles with getting good lighting for these photos so I shall have to keep working on this. I shall have to pay more attention to the base design. I had previously used it with tiles to make a frame but with the street over the top I can see what you are saying that it doesn't look quite right. Thank you! I drew from the various inns I have seen in historical movies for this design, with a dash of my own ideas. I am pleased to hear it pulled off the effect. Thank you! Yes, one must always have a good place for the horses! I thought about doing a standalone stable but since I had just done one of those I decided the lean-to style might be better. Well since Corrington doesn't have a King he wasn't referring to the highest majesty in the area. I don't think a mad king would stay at such a comfy place though. Thank you very much! The times are definitely interesting, and stories are here to be written. The next part of this story should be following soon.
