A Dream Within A Dream
SilentWolf replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is a great story, and great duplicates of previous builds. Good job on that. I don't know about the new monkey though. He doesn't look as mischievous as the original monkey!- 11 replies

[ESL-FB2] Producing Indigo Dye
SilentWolf replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
There are so many great details in this build! I like that you researched and portrayed the entire process. I am particularly fond of the raised water trough. I would have liked to have seen the water wheel even if it wasn't properly attached to a river. I also like the wagon, and the red roof. Another great build!- 17 replies

[ESL - FB1] Outfitting a ship in Quinnsville
SilentWolf replied to Legostone's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The story on this build was well done. You placed the minifigures in their locations for a reason and it was great to get a narrative for them. I like the concept of a ship yard and you definitely pulled off the business that would be expected on such an endeavor. 56 minifigures is an awesome accomplishment when they are all doing something. I like the brick built row boats. One final comment: the Lego row boat turned around between the first and second picture and then again near the end. They need to quit rowing in circles!- 9 replies

[ESL-FB] Pirate Hunter King Archibald
SilentWolf replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I really like the coloring on this ship and the brick built flag also adds a lot. (Granted it isn't the first time we have seen it.) I also like the technique you used on the bow and stern to create the curvature. I agree that it would be an excellent 3A. (Money always getting in the way of licensing .)- 13 replies

[COR - Aug FB1] Botany House, Mooreton Bay
SilentWolf replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is a really great build, Ayrlego. The wall looks really good. I like the table inside and the cabinets. They are well done. The trellis also turned out very well. I agree with Garmadon that your solution for the roof peak was great. Another all around great build from you!- 10 replies

[FB - COR] Those smelly pig farmers... oh, bacon!
SilentWolf replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you for the advice on how to improve the non-square approach. I will apply it the next time I use it. I attempt to pick last names that reflect the person's occupation, but some of them are not as obvious without looking up the origins. When I was looking for a name for hog farmers, I found Pigge and I got a kick out of it so I had to use it. Apparently it means "someone who raises pigs". Who would have guessed! Having been around a few pig farms in my day (relatives and friends) I really focused on the wallow. Having the multiple brown colors really helped pull it off. Thank you for the other compliments as well. Thank you! Thank you for the compliments, Bregir. I agree that the roof ended up being a little odd. In the cabin attempt #2 that I had in my fair entry, did have a lower roof so that the gable was above/even with the roof. Though I have decided I prefer the roofs that extend past the gable, but that also wasn't stable enough for my liking. Seeing that I had bacon for supper last night, Harry, Mary and Carrie are already crying that their children, Benny, Denny, Jenny, Kenny, Lenny, and Penny are turned into bacon, Thank you! -

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pigge had settled on Alicentia with their prized possessions. Harry, Mary, and Carrie were the best bacon producing hogs in all of Corrington. At least that was the belief of the Pigges. They have built a small plantation two miles from Mooreton Bay. Some of the residents were not pleased to have a smelly hog farm nearby. However, the Corrington love of bacon proved overall stronger than the disdain for the wind blowing from the wrong direction. Mrs. Amy Pigge was also a very good seamstress, and quickly made friends with some of the ladies who wished to lighten their own sewing work. Today, their grandson is out at the cabin "helping" Grandpa care for the pigs as Grandma takes a couple dresses into town. SAM_7523 by SilentWolf Legos, on Flickr SAM_7525 by SilentWolf Legos, on Flickr SAM_7526 by SilentWolf Legos, on Flickr A birdseye view: SAM_7527 by SilentWolf Legos, on Flickr Notes: The cabin design was borrowed from a combination of Mike's log cabin, with an attempt to combine it with the roof from Kai's log cabin. It was built for my entry to the state fair, but the cabin ended up not being stable enough for me to trust it to other people for a month. Thus, I decided to build this small hog farm around the cabin. It was also my first attempt at a non-square base. C&C welcome.

Thank you for the compliments! I have been trying to learn from the builds I see and incorporate the ideas into my own builds to improve mine. The windows were done to try and break the monotony of the wall. I had used it previously in the founding of the colony build, but it had been in white. I feel the darker color worked better as it made more of a contrast. I had considered tiling to cellar, but I decided I wanted it to look unpolished so I avoided it. I shall have to try it out in the future. Thank you! The opening roof looks great in the pictures but would not work on a playable model. The brackets kept popping off. I need to work on a way of securing them better. The stove had an operational oven door that I did not show and it could hold a pan (tile). Thank you! After having spent three weeks earlier this summer canning fruit, I decided I might as well use my knowledge in making it a Lego build. I just had to research when the different methods were invented to see what to portray. Thank you! Thank you, Elostirion! The photography on this build was a little under par as I was rushing it. I ended up having to lighten some of the pictures on my photo editor. I am glad to know that people see a steady improvement in my builds. The furniture was fun to do since I had made some of the pieces in my LDD model. I was pleased that they turned out fairly sturdy and looked great in actual bricks also. Thank you, Bregir! This is my first attempt at an underground build since my hidden cave in the first set of challenges. I am glad to know it turned out well in others perspectives also. Thank you for the compliments on my improvement. Long live the Corrington navy! -

Previously... New buildings and enterprises are going up in Elizabethville quite often these days. New settlers need to get to Lacryma and get established before the winter season sets in. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Townsend had arrived with the group of settlers that landed on May 20th. They had been working to build a house and a business for themselves since then. SAM_7499 by SilentWolf Legos, on Flickr SAM_7502 by SilentWolf Legos, on Flickr Mrs. Townsend had brought some unique equipment and supplies to the colony. She had realized that in a new settlement like this food could be a scarcity as the growing season comes to a close. As a lady with a green thumb, she brings knowledge of preservation of food. The common technique that she has worked with back in Eastern Halos. However, she had discovered a technique where she could preserve food without pickling. She placed vegetables or meat in a glass jar with a salt brine. The jars then have a rubber ring placed on it then a metal lid lightly screwed down. She then places the jars in a boiling pot of water. This creates a vacuum inside the glass jars creating a seal that keeps the food from going bad. She had attempted to promote this idea in Eastern Halos but the companies that already provided food for the masses didn't want to change the methods they had used for so long. Here in the frontier settlements, the need for food outweighed technique. She also has been experimenting with a sealed pot that put the jars under pressure. It had not yet been perfected but showed great promise. Mrs. Townsend had hired one of the native women to help her in learning about the edible foods on the island and the natives methods of food preservation. Together they with the occasional help of Mr. Townsend were preserving and storing various foods for the good of the settlement. The cellar was just starting to fill up. That is some beautiful rigging!Nice color scheme also. I have a small artisan built that just needs pictures and a post tomorrow. I decided to show the process of canning. Obviously Corries will be the first to try new methods that will be used for years into the future.- 897 replies

The lighthouse has a lot of great aspects. The sloped lower wall does a lot for this build. I also like the white and yellow color combination. It works very well and then is accented by the green foliage and brown path which just improves the whole build. Great minifigure posing too. Since I like the Lego animals I will add in that I like seeing the seagull.

Yes it is the dark orange color. I had tried a couple colors above the doorway, but when I chose the dark orange it just brought the build to life. So I stuck with that, and I was pleased with the results. The advantage to LDD is I can add so many details, even if I don't own the bricks in real life. The downside is you can keep making changes forever. I had to finally say I had done enough and it was finished. I am glad you like it. I enjoy using LDD as it provides me the building capacity I wouldn't have otherwise. If I am away from my bricks like a lot of this month, or I want to build something I don't have the bricks for, it is a great tool. At the end of the month though, I get more pleasure out of the builds I do out of real bricks. There is just something to building it with my hands. Thank you all for the compliments. I am glad to hear that I am still improving on my builds. The colors got crazy at the end as I wanted to avoid using any one color too much, so I had to start improvising with the old brown and nougat colors, etc. I did realize when posting that I made a mistake on the lady's dress and made it the same color as the staircase. Oops. The mosaic was one of my favorite ideas for this build but it definitely was one of the more frustrating parts. I tried several techniques to make it look the part, and this was the best I came up with. In the end, I should have probably left it off, but the idea just sounded too good. Thank you! The gate was a fun build, as I wanted to portray the door within the gate method. I also wanted every part to be lockable if it were built in real Legos. I enjoyed the way it turned out but it would be a little flimsy in real bricks. I am please the curved slopes on the wall top turned out as well as I hoped.

I just licensed my Medium Residence on Prio, which due to running that mission should be free. I am sure that will require a manual edit. Thank you.

Lord Alexander Prio had sent out a call for mercenaries to come and aid him in fighting a native uprising on the island. The WETEC decided to dispatch The Alexander with extra troops to aid Lord Prio. The mercenaries were paid for their work, and the WETEC received a plot of land upon which they could construct a residence. The Lord Prio soon after declared independence from his king and set up his own nation, The Grand Duchy of Prio. The WETEC decided to stay on the island and aid in the battle for independence as long as they were paid for their services. It also gave them an opportunity to test and refine the troops they were training on the island of Lacryma. Though they did not expect that the war would enter such a stalemate. The WETEC's commanders on the island are discussing options to hurry the war, as now two of the company's ships are tied up on the island and the Flying Colt is leaving soon. Commander Henry Austin, has called together the his commanders of the infantry, cavalry, and scouts to discuss future plans. The cavalry commander is just now arriving, and the other two are already in the secure Green Room. [COR-FB] Captain's Residence, Elizabethville, Lacryma
SilentWolf replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This house is a great addition to Elizabethville. I like that you wove the background into your story with the reference to the plains and horseback riding. The figure posing and expressions are excellent based on the story as well. -

SilentWolf replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you! The color is actually "Warm Gold" in LDD, but it definitely renders more of a tan color. The dark red worked way better than I expected. Thank you Bregir. I always look forward to hearing from those of you with more knowledge of sailing vessels as it helps figure out where I need to improve and where I have done well. The sails were a pain to start building but once I got each one started it wasn't too hard to complete. I had considered making them look wind filled, but I was afraid it would make them too thick. Also I was running out of time to get it done before the MRCA. Definitely a lot of polishing to be done. ;) Have no fear of any nefarious intentions. We will be too busy polishing and selling horses to commit to any schemes. -
