  1. Hm, I did 2 free builds and just have 35 DBs even though I just signed up in February. I registered both of them(well, one of the ships got captured though...
  2. Well, that just means that less ships have to disappear for you to go bankrupt, right? EDIT: Maybe Ska should've posted this in the general discussion. Sorry members of Corrington.
  3. Obligatory thanks; finally someone notices the brick built flag:D While building the stern I felt like the platform above should allow a few people to stand on it, so I couldn't really make it any thinner than the hull itself, which is 12 studs wide, leaving me with 10 studs in between the railings on top of the stern. Going outwards or even just straight up would have either drastically shrunken the space up there or made the entire stern look odd. On a bigger hull I would let the galleries on the side of the stern slope inwards.
  4. Hey, I would really like to see a tutorial on building masts and how to reinforce them. It would be even better to have a collection of different techniques. I would help where I could.
  5. Thanks! More about licensing later. I think I might put her up for auction once this months MRCA results are in(as in results this month). She won't be cheap though! Indeed I am a member of MAESTRO now:P And well, if the Corringtons pay me well enough they may get that vessel. Well, everyone who pays enough can get it:D Thanks! I'm slowly running out of material for masts though, I think I can just do one more with masts this size, I guess rather sooner than later I'll have to bite into my wallet and order some parts on bricklink. Sadly the schooner(the biggest of my ships so far) is not yet completed, and currently I sadly lack inspiration on the bow, as well as that I'm not quite happy with the stern, might completely redo that. Btw, have a picture of the War Dwarf next to some hulls which may or may not be used in the near future:P to bad I just have stern sections in brown:P Obligatory thanks first:P Well, you are churning out ships like there is no tomorrow:P I'll agree though, speed building is indeed fun. I may try it again once I decide what type of ship I build next... And for the sail plan many liked - a big thanks to wikipedia for that:P
  6. Thanks! Thanks! The Bowsprit was lower before, it was just me failing at getting the rigging done properly which pulled it up and I decided it would be to big of a hassle to change it back again. I'm still not sure, I guess I'll see after this MRCA what I'll do. I think it could be a class 4A - we have a crew of over 13 (13 on deck, + some more below(in theory:P)). I've downgraded the guns to 18 and 9 pounds, I'm alright with that too. I was just listing whats well visible on the broadside in the shot - there is a total of 6 18 pounders, 6 9 pounders (the chase guns are 9 pounders as well) as well as 2 swivel guns. And considering there is not much space for transporting goods I stay with my rating of 4A.
  7. I have a new warbrig up, the War Dwarf. Built in 12 hours total.
  8. Update: Now the HMS Kite of the Corrington Royal Navy Try at least once finishing a single ship in a single day, it is fun (besides the rigging:P). The War Dwarf is a rather old war brig, brought here by the family of Monezterell brought it over from the old world as she was one of their best ships back then. Since then she had a general overhaul, as she was a bit outdated in comparision to many of the new ships that are and were being built. She may not be the fastest ship on the ocean, but she can keep pace with the majority of modern ships again. It is commanded by Captain Damian Chetham. Instead of writing more I would rather let pictures speak for me. War Dwarf, starboard side, also a general overview. starboard again, but this time a bit more close up, here you can see her broadside - 3 18 pound guns, 2 9 pound guns, as well as a swivel gun. This is mirrored on the other side. As well as that she has 2 permanent chase guns. Thats a total of 6 18 pound guns, 6 9 pound guns (the chase guns are 9 pounders too) and 2 swivel guns, a total of 14 guns. You should be able to see that there is a lot going on on board. Next we have a picture of her stern, as well as her portside. And lastly we have a picture straight at her bow, including the chase guns. Well, not exactly the last picture - there is also one together with the Wringe I and the unfished Green Winds. I'm unsure if I want to license her, I might put her up for sale - I could definetly use some more DBs:P Special thanks to Captain Green Hair for the hull building technique, it really helped. The rigging was painful (and is still far from perfect) though. Total of 12 hours spent building her. 4 of those on rigging and sails.
  9. Looks like a fast little ship:D I really like the smooth lines she has. You should be pretty safe registering this as a class 2F, considering that some of the class 2T ships (which are supposed to have a bigger cargo capacity) are a bit smaller than it. Nice background story too, I can never think about something like that:P
  10. I am not part of Corrington - I guess Jones Jacket is a bit misleading, but the flag itself should show where I belong;). I've found that parrot somewhere in a place where you just search through boxes, I have 7 of them:P There is a flex tube down the mast:P
  11. Update: The Wringe I has been taken by the Sea Rats. It got replaced by the Wringe II, which has been painted differently. The new Captian is Valerio D'Obarno. I am Jerome Monezterell and here is my first ship - The Wringe I. It is a fast cutter that has a bit of storage space, so she'll be registered as a class 2F. It is commanded by Jones DeRoy (the guy with the dark green Epaulettes) who is one of my most trustworthy men. It is not armed; I'll trust the escorting ships. I guess I'll just go on with pictures: Swapping load while on sea Sailing off I'm just trying through different types of hull techniques, if anyone has other suggestions besides the hull techniques by Captain Green Hair, Sebeus I and CB4 I would really appreciate those, as I don't feel like I want to go further with this technique as it seems a bit to flat to me. Edit 5th March 616: She has been captured by the Sea Rats. The crew is drifting around the ocean on a raft.
  12. Check on bricklink instead. Trans bright green and black are available, purple and green are not.
  13. 64 of the bigger flamepiece and 30 of the smaller one. I counted for you:P
  14. After being welcomed at the beach, Roger - he pulled the short stick while being low on food - was relieved to see the the natives on the island he landed on seemed peaceful. They even offered him a hot bath to welcome him. He didn't think there could be a different definition of hot bath than the one he already knew about. He had never been so wrong...
  15. Actually she's bigger than you might think - just a bit longer than a 3 mid-section ship. Most of the examples given for class 5 ships in the MRCA Thread are actually 3 mid-section ships. Also, as you may see her stern is far from finished, she'll most likely be about as long as the Skulls Eye Schooner. But I never planned to register her anytime soon anyways, first I'll build a pair of smaller ships I'll sent out this month - should be doable:P
  16. I, Jerome Monezterell, hereby declare allegiance with Eslandola. I have never been really poor. I grew up in a community of merchants, and thats what I will continue doing. I know all men of my crew, as I've grown up with them. At the moment I am sadly unable to sail from port to port as all of my ships are either unfinished or in the drydock, as they've been heavily damaged a few months ago during a bad storm. One of them is almost ready to sail again though. You may have noticed that chest I'm letting one of my crewman carry around. You'll not find out what is inside it tough... ___ I hope I've done this right. One of the Ships that is getting "fixed up" is this Schooner (which I obviously can't afford yet). Still need a name for it:P Just a WIP, not even close to being done with it. I hope I can get those 350 DB before finishing her up, even though I doubt that is possible:P (getting 350 DB before finishing her up, that is)
  17. Okay, I found it. Maybe you could add to the description that that post also contains a deeper description of the ship types - the current description doesn't give that out, might make some things a bit easier for starters ;)
  18. Just a quick suggestion here: please add the "building a ship" thread as well as the one about buildings to the master index. Right now they are still findable, but will get more difficult to find eventually.
  19. Just about a week ago I stumbled over your older builds, and suddenly there is a new one. Really liking this application of the technique on a smaller ship. I've been trying building a ship with this technique as well (building a small schooner) and start to appreciate how stable it is too - even though I'm far from done and my execution of the technique is far from perfect it is surprisingly sturdy. But I would - like others I would guess - really appreciate a proper tutorial of building hulls like this one, especially the stern and the bow. Edit: I must have overread the last post, I guess that pretty much answers my question about a tutorial. Still, I would like to see some more examples of bows and especially sterns as that part seems to be the one where it is most difficult to get rid of gaps sadly.
  20. Just saw that review in my youtube feed, Thanks for properly reviewing those! I guess that answers my question I had after the video;D How did you get them in russia though? Did you order them from the shop I linked or from somewhere else, considering how high the shipping costs to other countries are from there?
  21. You should most likely be able to get them for under 5$ each if you order them from bricklink: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=54120&idColor=11#T=S&C=11&O={"color":11,"minqty":"4"} Obviously depends where you live, in Europa and Asia they seem to be a lot cheaper than in the US. The 8297 is still a quite cool model, I don't think they've implemented adjustable suspension height inside any of their vehicles since then. Sadly it is not 4x4, but that is survivable.
  22. Sorry for replying this late, I seem to have missed your question about those tires. The smaller ones do slip a bit, but the bigger ones fit perfectly, even a bit better than the normal lego tires I believe - the few I have tend to slip more on the rims I have available. The tires don't require any modifications to fit either.
  23. One part of the functionality can not be achieved with a smaller model - the sturdiness. A 1.5m studless beam construction not bending is impressive either way to me.
