  1. I have a quick question to some of the other shipbuilders here - why are so few of you using technic connectors instead of 1x1 round bricks? The axle connectors aren't exactly as round, but it ends up being barely noticeable and they don't have the thin ledge at the bottom - I think they are about even in looks, but the technic connectors are much better considering stability, as the connecting part goes completely through them unlike the round 1x1 bricks. Then there is also the completely round technic connector, which sadly has a slot, but it is also completely round. 6538b old axle connector (interesting: tan exists and isn't too expensive) 6538c new axle connector (reddish brown and black are widely available) 75535 old round pin connector, no slot (expensive in interesting colours) 62462 new round pin connector, slot (black, reddish brown and white are widely available) 18654 1L pin connector (tan and black available) You can even have masts get thinner towards the top by combining the pin connector (thickest part), new axle connector (slightly thinner), the old connector (slightly thinner again) and technic axles. Oh, and lets add something silly - was anyone here thinking a 2 deck, 38 gun brig would be a good idea? The Austrians supposedly thought so. The article only exists in German, but here you go.
  2. Pennants - the flag like thing I tried to replicate with 1x2 tiles and plates I guess? You are right, it was an experiment that didn't end up working out. Thanks! If you want me to I can go and post them in the Foundry later today. At the time of starting this build I was indeed running out of black long technic axles, but at the time I got new ones I still liked the old version so I just kept them. Same goes for the taper - most of my technic red technic connectors are in a red technic car, so I had to do with what I had. :D Yes, will do that later today or tomorrow. They'll most likely remain intact for a while, as I quite like them :D (and I rarely keep a ship for less than 3-6 months, the oldest ship I still have assembled is from September last year.
  3. How would we have managed that in this time? :D
  4. If they are in the stores it is only a matter of time until they become easily available on BL, check the prices for the musketeer torso for example
  5. Just a quick note to the Sea Rats out there: Both Migery and Morning Fog were unmocced vessels. Only Cardinal, Tribute, Wolf II and Great Scott II were mocced.
  6. :D He is Marderian Thanks! Thank you! Glad the colourscheme worked out:D Thanks! I think the spar with a flex tube with technic pins has been done before, I think at least Kabel and Kolonialbeamter have used it. I think the hull technique is also from KB, but I'm not 100% sure. I guess there isn't much to lose, sadly our planning went a bit over board and he loses his second leg twice now:P
  7. With about 2 hours to go I don't expect much to change, so here are the stats for now: Cat D For ESL For MAR Professor Thaum Bodi Captain B MKJoshA Legostone Kolonialbeamter Garmadon Maxim I 5:3 @Maxim I @Kolonialbeamter You still haven't posted your entries here ;)
  8. Cat D: Captain Rijsk's Unfortunate Day, Part 3 - Again? | Legostone | For Eslandola
  9. Part I Part II After acquiring a new boat, Captain Rijsk went out for another adventure. His new Dhow, outfitted for fishing, once again, ran right into the hands of a much larger Garvian Xebec - he isn't the luckiest person in the world, after all. Well, he survived the previous adventures, so maybe he is? The catch of the day was safely put on board in a big tub, but that wasn't the most convenient way to escape - he decided the best way to escape would be his personal chest - enough space for a person who once had 2 legs. More pictures: Garveyan Xebec loaded with guys ready for the fight: _______ Finished this in the last minute really - I'll see if I can add some more story before the deadline is up, but at least the build is already up now. Feel free to request more pics - I might be able to take some more tomorrow morning. Edit: The Garveyan Xebec is a 4A (I'm gonna see about a story later) and the Mardieran Fishing Dhow is a 1F - I'm not even gonna bother with a story to aquire it;) Edit: I guess we messed up a bit with the organisation - he lost his second leg twice, oops.
  10. Thanks for voting for my ship! I'll find a good spot for that trophy once I get it:D For those wanting to see more about the HMS Tribute and happen to visit Hanover (Germany) in the next ~6 months - it'll remain in the Land der Bunten Steine (a local store specialised in Lego) for about that long. Due to that I can't take any more pictures good pictures until then. Again, it was a great weekend and I'll gladly join again (if time and money allow it)!
  11. Well, with those entries (I just counted the ones that were easily noticeable - Ayrlego, yours went under my radar as your edit was in a post before the end of the deadline for Category A, Bregirs was posted later and Franco Clarke forgot I guess) we have this: Cat B For ESL For MAR Captain B Mesabi Faladrin dr spock Professor Thaum Kolonialbeamter Maxim I MKJoshA Legostone Bregir Sir Stig Ayrlego Capt Wolf Garmadon Kai NRG 9:6 Cat C For ESL For MAR Captain B Kolonialbeamter Maxim I MKJoshA Faladrin dr spock Kai NRG Puvel France Clarke 4:5
  12. @SkaForHire Any update now? April has started ;) Also, can the Fort facts thread be unpinned and just remain linked in the BOBS index thread? I think almost everyone should know by now, and less pinned topics helps with readability.
  13. Short summary (I hope all the links are correct and I missed nobody): Cat B For ESL For MAR Captain B Mesabi Faladrin dr spock Professor Thaum Kolonialbeamter Maxim I MKJoshA Legostone Ayrlego Sir Stig Bregir Capt Wolf Garmadon Kai NRG 9:6 Cat C For ESL For MAR Captain B Kolonialbeamter Maxim I MKJoshA Faladrin dr spock Kai NRG Puvel France Clarke 4:5 Go Eslandola! We can win this!
  14. Thanks! Yeah, I thought it was still missing so I had to build it:P Well, those boats aren't my idea - they are based on designs from this thread and finished up with some inspirations from here and flickr. Not sure who brought in the hinged back first - might even have been KB. I was prepared for doing that, but considering I have an examen tomorrow morning and will be out of town til Tuesday I couldn't see how I could manage it in time. Uhhmmm... Those aren't many plates:P Pffh, I'm only the third richest person in BOBS, not counting my licensed stuff:D Thanks! I guess I succeeded with the "cobbled together" look I wanted to achieve there.
  15. 1 more hour left to vote! It is still possible for the outcome to change ;) @TitusV Remember that cow next time... Like I told you last time
  16. :P I'm not counting them, but considering 5 are covering 2 studs in length and the path is around 80 studs long I would guess around 200.
  17. Cat B - Admiral's End - For Eslandola
  18. As the Secretary of the Eslandolan Navy I have quite some control over our navy - and every now and then I also need to invest a bit into it. We're sending out our flagship, under the command of Admiral Brickwall Adurnos, out against the Marderian Scum blocking our island. Their basic defenses stand no chance against the firepower of a ship of the line! Off course we can also transport lots of troops to land them there. Sadly, the landing didn't go quite as planned... View from on top: And the end of our dear Admiral Brickwall Adurnos: (quick note: I'm quite short on time this month, so excuse the little time spent on taking pictures. If interest is there I can retake them in about a week) (Also, if anyone is interested in a picture of all the guys here - click here) (Lastly, this is well within the size limit at 16x96 = 1536 with 48x48 = 2304)
  19. Have you checked the March summary? I see you got 217 DBs there... @Maxim I Professor Thaum seems to be missing. @Phred Time to add someone to the sheet again...
  20. ...Maybe I should think about the context. I was wondering for a second why there is a hat-shaped lamp infront of the entrance
  21. Can one of those who owns the set send pictures of the parts list in the instructions?
  22. I guess replacing the current construction with round 2x2 bricks should improve it a bit... Btw, is there a 16l technic axle going through the mast? Its certainly more than 12 as far as I can tell.
  23. Well, 2x2 round plates also have one and would make more sense too. Well, the masts on the ship are ugly anyways...
