  1. Went to Downtown Disney Anaheim last night. They had white door frames, plant stems and palm tree tops. Pretty good, I don't often see door frames and I have never seen palm tree tops and it has been a while since I have seen plant stems. Had some empty space, should have packed more plant stems in but wife was getting bored and tired of the crowds Got a large cup with just those items. Andy D
  2. Do you tire of sorting and organizing? I have been disassembling, breaking sets I bought for spares, sorting PaB purchases and sorting anything else I have and storing and organizing for the last 2 weeks. My brain is fried! I need to be done with this sort/organize/store project NOW! I have decided that I am going to S/O/S (sort/organize/store) for 2 more days, then just put the remainder in an "unsorted parts" bin and carry on! I just can't get it all done at once... Too much LEGO! I never thought I would say "Too much LEGO" but it just may be true. Well, maybe not. Back to it! Andy D
  3. I like the crowds, makes the city look busy. And it doesn't look as if the helicopter takes off very often anyway ;) ;) When was the last time that helicopter caused a backwash? ;) ;) Andy D
  4. That is really great! Time to get another and start building. Andy D
  5. Great! I will look forward to you reviews! Thanks in advance for helping to fill the review gap. Andy D
  6. Cool cappuccino machine! Great video. Thanks for sharing, Andy D
  7. This is very nice. It appears that the Cafe Corner was just photographed in B&W (I know it wasn't). I like dome of your mods, the chicken in the tower and the dinosaur above the door gave me a chuckle. I am sure I didn't catch all your mods but.... Very well done. Is the back modded a well? The lower level appears different to me. Andy D
  8. I agree with Zbli... Both the drawing and LEGO model are great! Too bad there is no way to realize the bubble top with LEGO, but the roadster is great on it's own. Thanks for sharing this, Andy D
  9. Well... My response was rather tongue in cheek, equal parts serious and joking. But I did think that maybe a blender would work. If you are concerned about ruining your good blender (I would be), you can probably find one at your local thrift store, flea market or garage sale to use. IHTH Andy D
  10. Try a food processor or blender. Remember the guys advertising their blender (I forget which one) where they ask the question... "Will it blend?" Well, maybe a blender is your best bet. Be sure to let us know... Andy D
  11. That is really great, by not having "The Ultimate LEGO Set" it gives us some room to make sets better, adding our own personal stamp on sets. If every LEGO set was pushed to the limit they would cost so much that they would not sell well. This way they sell well, to those who like the sets as-is, great. The rest of us modify. Just MHO, YMMV, Andy D
  12. Another great review! I really like the building and tree. I am not a fan of Ninjago, but after reading your review I am tempted to get this set just for the build and the parts pack. Again this review is an example of a great self-contained review that allows the reader to really get a sense of the set. A big thank you for doing this... Andy D
  13. Great review! I am not a fan of Ninjago or Mech, but your review is well done! It exemplifies what a great review should be, plenty of pictures, good description, self contained on EB. Andy D
  14. I believe it is an individual decision. I have seen presentations that have only a few photos that leave me wanting more, some short ones are OK depending on the MOC. I typically enjoy a presentation that has enough photos and description and photos to describe the MOC. I like a good back story, or even a story that goes with the MOC. I like to be able to study the photos and really get a sense of the MOC, it can help me learn new techniques. What I don't like are only video presentations, a good video as a supplement is OK, and can add to the pictorial and textual presentation, but a video only leaves me cold. I don't mind long presentations, it just shows me how passionate the artist is with his or her MOC. Just MHO, YMMV, Andy D
  15. Great! Really captures the scene from the movie. The loader and Queen(s)are fantastic! Makes me wish for a an Aliens movie made in LEGO. Andy D
  16. A so, so pictorial review is better than a good video review (IMHO), why? You ask.. Usually a video review just covers seeing the completed model and the some of the builder's comments and experience (maybe) building it. Sometimes the video reviewer was not the person building the model. A pictorial review includes photos from box opening to completed model and much in between. I enjoy seeing the different build stages and sometimes the build stages will point out areas that may be problematic in assembly. I also enjoy reviews that are completely self contained in EuroBricks. I don't want to go to a YouTube video or external blog or site. I also very much enjoy the discussion generated by a review on EB. Somehow we as a community need to encourage more reviewers to post pictorial reviews on EB. Reviews on EB are generally better quality than external reviews and if there is a purchase decision to be made from a review I always look for an EB review to help me with that decision. Just to add here... I believe the reason for high quality reviews on EB is The Reviewer's Academy. They have high standards and even reviews by non Academy members seem to try to make their review of the same format and quality. Just MHO, YMMV. Andy D
  17. @tkatt. Thanks for the review. It is very good and interesting for the old set. The set looks very interesting, it appears that the designer may have been trying to make the set appear that it was built with whatever miscellaneous parts that may have been on his workbench. This really adds to the whimsy of the set. I have seen several sets where the construction was more form than function, for example ad you mentioned parts hanging on by one stud. I guess those designers didn't follow the advice in the Master Builder's Academy which teaches ways to make a model structurally sound. I realize that this set was before the MBA, but LEGO must have had guidelines back then, and they for sure have guidelines today. Overall, great review! Thanks for doing this, I really enjoyed the read and photos. Andy D
  18. I really like the whimsy of this build. Looks like a mecha built from the Ice Cream Machine. Good build! Andy D
  19. Very interesting technique! I think it works well. Also the three turkey legged animal (?), (robot dog?) in your sig line is really interesting, a real head scratcher. Andy D
  20. I guess I need to change as well. If someone writes a review that I read I am going to try to take the time to show my appreciation of them for taking the time to write a review. @kinggregus, thanks for pointing this out! Andy D
  21. For me, I read EB. I don't go surfing blogs and YouTube and other sites for reviews. I like photo reviews with written descriptions, not a fan of video reviews ( the exception is the designer's video). I really don't like reviews here where a person will give a brief teaser, then say see my blog, website or YouTube for the actual review. Just MHO, YMMV, Andy D
  22. The stadium/flower wall is different. A real attention getter, in an off-the-wall funny way. 7 large containers! Andy D
  23. For a definition of the Modular Building Standard see post #8 of this thread http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=36535 IHTH Andy D
  24. My first reaction is "yuck". But, different strikes for different folks. Oh, well. Andy D
  25. Very nice Robbie the Robot!
