REVIEW: 70728 Battle for Ninjago City
Andy D replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great set! Thanks to this review, I got this set. I just got back from a 7 day California coastal cruise and I built this set during downtime while on the cruise. When we unpack I will see how well it survived the trip home. This was an interesting and fun build with some very interesting and new (at least to me) build techniques. Now after some study it will become a very nice parts pack. Maybe I will sell the mini figures as a group. Andy D -
Great! Glad to see this. Now maybe DisneyTM will provide new language and content filters to keep this site more wholesome. Congrats and thanks to all who worked so hard to make this happen! Just MHO, YMMV Andy D

As long as we're wishing... May as well wish big! Darn, I forgot all about River! How could I forget about River? I would really like to see a spin-off TV series featuring River... What a deep character. Need River Song in the LEGO Doctor Who franchise. Andy D

March's Double VIP- What are you buying?
Andy D replied to TheFuzz's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, gee! It looks like nothing. I guess I'll just have to give my credit card a rest for awhile. (Chuckle) Andy D -
Too true! A very good start, but you forgot about the 11th Doctor with Amy and Rory in various situations (except as part of a minifig collection). Matt Smith was born to be the Doctor, I miss his doctor more than all the others. Just MHO, YMMV, Andy D

Very, very nice TARDIS, I really like the lighting, well done! Looking forward to your build photos. Thanks, Andy D

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Andy D replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I am also a fan of the classic yellow minifig heads. But I do like grey for zombies, black for Storm Troopers (because it looks good through the eye holes), but for most figs, yellow. Andy D -
MOC: Doctor Who LEGO Tardis with building instructions
Andy D replied to Tijger-San's topic in LEGO Licensed
I thought I knew where it was going, but I never saw the steps on pages 7,8, and 9, complete surprise! I think I will start building today and see where it goes. UPDATE: well, I got started. I gathered parts, had no where near the amount of blue needed, so I decided to make it black, dark blue-ish grey and some light blue-ish grey. Kind of a Batman's TARDIS. I think I figured out the top, but I am unsure about the interior support, I'll look into that more later. Still waiting on more steps. It seems I get surprised at the implementation with each step. Thanks, Andy D- 11 replies

There are not many things that there are 100+ in front of "you" at any given time of day. For me it could not be LEGO, as there in no LEGO in front of me right now. One of the few things that is universally in front of people is skin cells or maybe dust. Andy D

I agree, that video was very interesting. The part I like about his system is the flexibility and modularity, with the larger sizes being an exact multiple in size of the smaller ones. This is a system that is very scalable and expandable. If I did not have so much invested in my current system I would consider trying to find a ready-made system with the attributes of his system. Makes my system look primitive by comparison... Oh, well I will just have to make my system work or make modifications without throwing it out and starting over. My main goal with my system remains... To have my inventory fairly well sorted and organized so that I know where to look to find a specific part if I have it. This is more important to me than complete organization... To know where to look to find if I have a specific part. I remember someone on the forum asking for ideas about a storage system he wanted to build and sell... This is it! Or at least a darn good start! Andy D

This an excellent example of the Art Deco movement! Andy D

I try to not quote this much from a post, but this is exactly what I see in most (if not all) posts asking for support for ideas projects. There is a policy on EuroBricks concerning Ideas projects, but it appears to me that it is either ignored or people try to find a work around to make it appear that their primary motivation for the post may not be to get Ideas support. Maybe we need a sub forum just for Ideas postings, like we have sub forums for everything else. Then just keep Ideas postings I that sub forum. Just MHO, YMMV Andy D

So, it is not just grumpy to report posts that folks put up that are all about maybe 1 picture and a plea to support their latest Ideas project?
-
Apparently not many new members are reading the site guidelines. Because I seem to see several per week (sometimes more) who are doing the "I want Ideas support..." Route.
-
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed a lot of new members with very few posts (under 10), sometimes just 1 post who appear to have joined Eurobricks just to promote their Ideas project? Don't get me wrong, I think the LEGO Ideas is a great thing for some MOCs, but should every MOC be an Ideas project, and should people join Eurobricks just to promote their Ideas project? I'll turn my grumpy side off now. Andy D

Do your minifigs have personalities? Ethics? Drives?
Andy D replied to AmperZand's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't know about ethics or personalities, but they seem to have one very, very strong drive. They like math (I guess) because they just seem to keep multiplying. ;) ;) Andy D -
Looks like, from bottom to top 4 x 4 plate, black 1 x 1tile, purple 2 x 3 brick, grey 1 x 3 brick, grey 3 x 3 plate, black 1 x 1 round plate, grey In short, a group of LEGO pieces. Andy D

That bridge looks slightly phallic, and you want to double the size. ;) ;) Sorry in advance, no offense meant. Andy D

I don't like the piles method, little or big. I use the bowl method, I sort bags into size/type/color, depending on the set. My bowl of choice is the Glad entree size food storage container and a 8" pie tin for each step. I gather all the parts for each step into the pie tin and assemble from there. Your Ikea tray looks real good. I can see parts escaping through the handle holes but, the holes could be covered in some tasteful way. I can also see how the white would help with part identification. The bottom line is, If it works for you that is all that matters. Andy D

Ah... Interesting, thanks. Andy D

Very nice little church. I really like how much detail you crammed into such a small space. How did you do that stained glass window? Andy D
