[GBW] - Mission - PDSRE - Gorkonnam Air Strike
Feuer Zug replied to Feuer Zug's topic in The Great Brick War
The roof is connected to the sidewalls by the click hinges. Helpful picture below. I build the roof section first, getting the angle desired between the two sections with the click hinges (green circles). Next, I put click hinges on the other side of the roof and set them to vertical (yellow circles). I attached the walls to those click hinges. Finally, I added the bricks with studs on the sides (red circles), and attached the front and rear walls. Afterwards, I finished up by filling the gap on the roof with plates and jumpers. Some click hinge segments have a plate between them and the roof/walls to get the proper spacing for the knuckle. -

The dark blue bricks have studs on the side. They connect the walls together. -

As requested, a look at the tent interior. More fun with click hinges. When I first saw those Harry Potter books and the big hinged plates, I immediately thought they would make good tents and roofs. This is my first try at one. Thanks. -
[GBW] - Mission - PDSRE - Gorkonnam Air Strike

Thanks. Writing the story is half the fun with this. Oh YEAH! Thank you. I separated one torso from the legs, but I'll do more next time. I've been slammed schedule wise and remembering the trans-red plates was somewhat of a stretch for me. Grazi. I felt the ground was more a well trodden parade ground, and left it as such. A dirt field isn't all that pretty or varying in texture. -
[MOC] Lego M270D1 MLRS Multiple Launch Rocket System
Feuer Zug replied to ParmBrick's topic in The Military Section
Superb work on recreating this rocket launching system. Your attention to details like the cab doors and the stops to keep the rocket launcher elevated really make it shine. I probably wouldn't want to be that close to the launcher when rockets are firing, but soldiers aren't always known for being smart. -

Shortly after dawn, the bugler wakes the sleepy training camp deep in the forest of Gorkonnam. Standing next to the flagpole with their new banner, he blares out Reveille. As the raw volunteer "freedom fighters" rush to formation, a foreign military specialist working as a drill sergeant rolls his eyes at the tardy members of his platoon. Raising a knife hand, he begins screaming at the men. In front of the main tent, the camp commandant rolls his eyes. The volunteers had spent the previous night drinking and boasting how they were an invincible military force after they punched a few holes in paper targets that day. He hoped to train the men into a respectable force that wouldn't run at the first sign of a fight. Emerging from a low cloud bank, an Ag-24 ground attack aircraft piloted by Major Ivan "Weasel" Brickinov dives on the training camp. Weapons armed, he notices the formation and selects his cluster bombs. Watching the heads-up display, Weasel thumbs the pickle button and drops a pair of bombs from his aircraft. The casing split open and spew hundreds of bomblets across the camp. The bomblets use the latest PSIC technology. Some go after the vehicles and hardened structures, while others blanket the parade ground. The bugler notices the inbound aircraft, drops his instrument, and dives for cover behind the sandbags. The foreign advisors don't hesitate and do the same. Only a few of the volunteers try to run. Most freeze in place, jaws open in shock. The aftermath of the surprise attack is grim. The officer, the irate instructor, and the bugler are the only survivors. The two advisors recognized the aircraft as a PSIC built model and scratch their heads. Why did their own side attack them? The bugler helps bury his fellow friends over the next few days. The hard work and stench are brutal. He'd thought playing freedom fighter would be a fun gig, better than driving taxis. Now, he's not sure about anything. He overhead the advisors complaining about the friendly fire and his introduction to death unnerved him. In 48 hours, confused, mentally lost, and shaken to the core, he deserts.

Using the helicopter nose front makes it look like a Motive Power commuter locomotive. Well done.
-
Great work shoving a Circuit Cube into this small locomotive. I like how you retained the old LEGO rodding. Gives it a classic 12v look, while being functional in the modern sense. The printed wood plates at the bottom of the wagons is genius.

[MOC ] Pirates strictly come dancing ... (Let's dance)
Feuer Zug replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Pirate MOCs
Quite the spectacular dance hall. Swash Buck Johnny must be in good with the local authorities to dance in such a fine establishment. The pose is great, and the skirt give the impression of movement. -
Quite the use for a kite shield. I think it's funny and a good MOC. The eyes really give it character.

[MOC] Knights' Kingdom II: Border Ambush Redux
Feuer Zug replied to LordDan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Interesting recreating of the set. I like your attention to detail with the run down appearance to the bridge and stonework. -
Nice use of the big aircraft nose. It works well for the high speed train. I like your solution for the curves in the nose. Turning part of it sideways and using curved slopes works here. Using the sticker as a basis for the coloration on the side gives it some character to the passenger cars as well.

Same. Cheap set, but I got one as a kid. Wonderful addition to my castle collection. The helmet was cool, the armoured breastplate accessory perfect, and it had a glow-in-the-dark ghost! I do like the shield the knight came with though instead of the oval style. I agree with both of you. Military forces back then, and even today aren't often standardized. For me, the vote represented what accessories went best with a knight. As for the main forces, the lack of uniformity is better. Having different "standards" for each army gives them each a character and feel all their own too.

Now there's an unpopular opinion (not about LEGO). How much a ban on plastic toys would work gets interesting. With the 18+ range, LEGO could potentially state they aren't a toy anymore, but a modeling material, form of art, or whatever other term the legal staff comes up with. I think LEGO will find a way to survive as is. Their brand size and reach would give them significant leverage, along with the AFOL community, when working with politicians.

[MOC] The Wandering Dragon Slayer Knight
Feuer Zug replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Interesting beast of burden. The inclusion of the dinosaur and Fantastic Beasts pieces creates a harmonious look with the highlighting. The neck looks hinged, but the tiles probably stop that. Still, great design and vignette. -

Nice railroad depot. I like the raised platform for quick loading and unloading of vehicles off the rail cars. -
The windows appear to be part 60592 (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=60592#T=A The creator appears to have turned the windows sideways to make them look the way they do, at least to me. They could also be 60593, which is 3 bricks high instead of 2.

The minifig of Glorfindel is perfect. I love the expression as he jumps to his fate. The background is cool. Reminds me of playing Scorched Earth back in the day.
