Wow they all look fantastic. Like official Lego products. -
Thanks for sharing your story and your great moc with us. I am sorry for your loss. I myself had a serious illness though fortunately I made it through. I understand how these things are big and scary, how it effects your loved ones. Especially when it happens to someone who is young. Family and friends all feel so helpless and shocked. Then angry and sad. And no, it's not fair. I take comfort in the symbol of the comma you described. Nothing ever really stays the same or ends. That's not a negative thing. Like a comma. A pause in life. Time needed to think and take stock of events and try to figure out how to begin to move forward again. I found that Lego helped me to get through some very hard times. A distraction, something else to concentrate on. It's a small and silly thing but it can be one little piece of building a solution for going forward. I really like the whole ship design and you have used some interesting construction techniques there. Well done.

With the moc and the photoshopping this is really visually appealing. I don't usually like to much PS but this works. I have always been a Wipeout fan this captures the feel of that style of game perfectly.

MOC: Children's Ward of the Psychiatric Hospital
PaddyBricksplitter replied to Heksu's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hey I seen these on Flickr, they are great. Really well built with a good sense of creepy atmosphere. If you do any more I think it would be cool if you tried some lighting tecjniques. Some people use tablets or smart phones to cast coloured shadows on to mocs. I think I will try that sometime myself :) -
Lots of interesting techniques used here. Looks simple but really is not. Well done.

Hi all. Ever since I got these golden gates I've had this idea in my head. I got the Hawkman minifig recently who had the perfect wings for it so I finally got round to building it. Hope ya like it :D "Hey no cutting in line!"

Very imaginative. Nicely balanced build shape and colour wise. I love all the details like the bag and goggles. Really sells the character as a steam punky adventurer type.

Thanks. I've dismantled it all apart from the surfer. There's really not much to in anyway in terms of building. The whole city fitted on to a 48x48 base plate sitting on top of my sock drawer. The buildings in the background are just stacked plates with a few pieces added to make them interesting looking when out of focus. The flying ships are basic builds with pink trans pieces from the pod racer star wars set as the jet trails. They are added to a stack of bricks just out of shot so they look like they are flying. And that's it. I waited until sunset to take the picture and used a book light to illuminate the wall to make it look more like a sky. Thanks. I like her too. She made from Toxikita and the female samurai cmf. Thanks doc. Thanks to all for looking and commenting. Too kind guys :D

No way. Ok so I didn't really get how much of a serious thing collecting sealed sets was when I started this thread. I guess Lego has more types of fans and reasons for getting it as there are ways to combine the bricks. That's pretty cool. I like that idea. So are there well know holy grail sets that collectors want?
-
Well ya can take it with ya. I just don't see the point stacking loads of boxes and just looking at them. I guess I will never be a collector. I see my parts collection as valuable because of the possibilities for creation the parts afford. Not because of some idea that this or that piece is "rare" and I alone have it. I also see Lego as temporary. No matter how long it's took me to build something I do it in the knowledge that it is only a temporary state. It's gonna come part and be reconfigured as something new. In the end when I finally do croak some lucky kid is gonna have one hell of a lot of fun with the collection.
