  1. Does anyone want to draw out a Venn diagram? I overheard this topic discussed before. It was in a game development office. That Venn diagram probably covered most of the staff. There's a sliding scale of nerd/ geek.
  2. Yup. This is what was bothering me. A sealed set collection seems anti-Lego. Man you are in deep. Keeping a backup parts collection. That's pretty hardcore. Hmmmm, maybe collecting and building are two different hobbies. It's the sealed set collectors I don't get. I myself have a sealed original Star Wars Kenner figure for display. However one isn't really a collection. That's more about a emotional connection to an object. I'm not after more. The fact that sealed set collectors exist is going to inflate prices of old sets. You guys seen the prices of Monster Fighters sets, the Zombie one is crazy expensive.
  3. I don't know the name but it was the one with the guy with the blue hair. It was at around £17 which I think is just over $20. It's not like I can't just get another one. It's thinking the set will never get opened. I was thinking about the collectors who don't open the sets. They must exist, like that TV show Toy Hunter. Like some guy with 6 new identical sets just sitting there in storage for years. Like a set of paints that have never been used. I'm just pissed that I missed great stuff during my dark age and now it can be pretty expensive to get hold of some sets from the last few years.
  4. I lost an ExoForce set eBay auction to a last minute bidder. You win some you lose some. It was boxed so I guess it was a collector. Then I got thinking whilst sucking on some sour grapes. The poor mini fig may never see the light of day :( Those bricks remain untouched. Forever un-used, sniff...sniff, choke, blub.. Ain't you never seen Toy Story 2 you monsters! I declare a Lego civil war. MOC builders vs Collectors. We want the freedom to build with as many parts as possible. Release the bricks and mini figs you are holding hostage in your bubble wrapped prisons you tyrants!
  5. The base and the smoke action are really super good.
  6. It was pretty good. The secret cult angle was a bit heavy handed. I'm pretty sure there's a much more indepth documentary about afols on Netflix.
  7. It's all really about the finished image. Wether you like it or not. I always hated the photography part as I found it frustrating trying to get the shot I wanted. Especially since I was just shot loads of pics and was hoping for the best. You can make a great moc and have it let down badly by unappealing photos. I am taking it more seriously now. It's a steep learning curve but there's lots of tutorials online. I realised that some very simple mocs can appear great as a result of skillful photography.
  8. Nice. I like the interior lighting.
  9. Thanks, ultra agents and exo force seem to fit the bill. Insectoids look pretty darn cool too.
  10. Hey thanks. I'm glad you noticed all the little things I put in there :)
  11. Hi all, I'm back again for mini fig advice. I'm looking for suggestions for mini figs for a new sci-fi moc. I want to have characters that look kind of like futuristic punk skaters. So crazy hair pieces, heads with cool glasses or visor prints, rock style clothes or techno looking clothes pieces are what I'm after. Any suggestions would be welcome.
  12. He's got such a great face. Well done. And it's a lovely photo too.
  13. I think it captures both looks very well. And I like the colour choice.
  14. I just think mixing well known themes is fun. About a year ago I saw Chris Roach's LegoTransformers on YouTube. I thought, Lego + Transformers = fun. Hey, I like fun! I gotta go get some Lego... The second thing I ever made was a "Theme mashup" The Simpsons + Mecha = Homer Simpson Mecha. I just think it's funny. There's loads of steampunk mashup mocs out there too. Like all the steampunk Starwars ships. I like them a lot.
  15. In didn't think this could be done again and made better but you have done it. This is amazing. The other shots on Flickr really show it off.
  16. Like the curves and cockpit area. Cool ship.
  17. I like it here. No one thinks spending time and money making a spaceship crash into a castle for a single gag is nuts.
  18. Secret world? They make it sound like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Now I'm intrigued.
  19. Seen this on Flickr, it's awesome, I love the cockpit details.
  20. LOL but it's tied up most of my bricks so it's got to come down!
  21. Hey guys, thanks for looking and commenting. Now comes the long task of dismantling it and sorting all those parts.
  22. Thanks Graham, I saw your latest on Flickr, I love the sideways rocks it features. Very cool. :)
  23. Nice. Captures the Eastern look very well.
  24. I'll be sure to watch it. I hope it mentions the AFOL community and does not concentrate too much on designers with clear frame plastic glasses and Apple macs :P
  25. Hi all, Here's my latest moc, I wanted to have a go at building castles and spaceships and try a larger scale as I think its part of a Lego fans rite of passage. I had a lot of fun making this, hope you like it : )
