  1. Pretty cool crew! I have used the same hat (but brick beard's one) and the shoulder pads from the Darth Malgus for my captain too. I hope he's different enough from yours so I can enter him. If not, I can change him. I will post a pic later on my thread so you can check him out.
  2. Thanks all. It's been a lot of fun building this crew. Great comp idea :)
  3. Ha! Cool figs. The guy in the mask is great. I'm waiting on the CMF series pirate in the mail for a hook, I've got the same legs on My Captain fig. I'm thinking we will see more of Sir Rodney's leg :)
  4. Hi All, Here's my space pirate crew entry for Category A. The crew of the E.T.'s Revenge! Name: Captain Isaac Skuttlebutt Bio: More than your average eyeball in a jar. Barrel chested, ruddy fearless and encrusted with plundered finery. With wits as sharp as his deadly rending claws. The Captain of E.T.'s Revenge is a space pirate to his very (power) core. Moto: An eye for an eye. Name: Mr Horrorshow Bio: Some say he is from the dank depths of a gravity well. Some say his true face is terrifying beyond belief. Some say he just needs a hair cut. Mysterious, mumbling and menacing Mr Horrorshow is the stuff of bluecoat nightmares. Moto: Hrrrrrrrrrgh...Hrrrrgh.. Name: Molluskus Bio: Ship's Master-at-arms which is unsurprising really. Molluskus is a weapons expert possessing the ability to fight 8 men at once. He always carries a bottle which he can fit into as a party trick. Moto: All hands on deck, which one exactly? Name: Long John Shrimpy Bio: Former space miner and full time dwarf who tired of digging for gold. Now he prefers to prise it from his victims cold dead hands. Don't mention his mechanized platform shoes or you'll be meeting his war-hammer "Betty". Moto: Life is short, yours will be shorter. Name: Bilious Wretch Bio: A former captain brought low by his fondness for Astro-Grog. Bilious is literally booze fueled thanks to his back pack feeding grog directly into his blood stream. He may not know what day it is but his foul odor and temper make him a horrible space pirate to behold. Moto: What grog will not cure, there is no cure for. Name: Ed Gunner Bio: Is that a cannon on yer head or are you just pleased to see me? Both is the answer from the diminutive Edward Gunner. As the ship's head gunner, Ed provides ranged mobile fire support but he also loves close quarters combat for which he reserves a cannon ball on a chain, nasty! Moto: Shoot first ask questions never.
  5. OK got it. My figs will be keeping their limbs as nature intended. Good job I read this before doing any more experiments. Thanks guys.
  6. Hi all, I've been working on some min figs for the Space Pirates competition. Last night I took apart my Space Miner fig. I watched a video and followed it. I took the individual arms and legs out of their sockets. Now one of the legs is pretty loose. My question is does the process of removing the individual arms and legs risk damaging the min figs? I have a bunch of great figs and want to get the most from them build wise without damaging them. Any advice would be welcome.
  7. Ah, Seen this build just this evening on Flikr. Wipeout is one of my fav games. I always loved the ship designs, especially in the early PS games. This captures the look perfectly.
  8. You sir are a bloomin' genius. I love it. It's just great with the lights and the opening action, just like the movie :D
  9. Awesome crew, cool builds and funny characters. I bulit the same Laser axe for one of my guys, but in red. I'd love to post it but I cant get the image uplader to work for some reason even though its a really small file :(
  10. I think it's open to interpretation. That's the space where creativity lives. For visual representations in pop culture there are plenty of examples of space pirates e.g. Disney's Treasure Planet or Space Raider corn snacks from the UK. Which reminds me I'm hungry...and only a sci fi themed corn snack will suffice.
  11. No! The pizza is preserved in a futuristic suspended animation chamber that slows down it's vital signs. This particular pizza could be a thousand years old. And besides we all know left over pizza tastes pretty good..
  12. Pretty cool :) I'm looking for one of those Monster Fighters peg legs for mine too.
  13. Thanks bublible, maybe I'll make another Sci-Fi, robot, pizza related moc. I guess there's always room for one more..or two.
  14. Hi All, Another Sci-Fi, robot, pizza, apocalypse related MOC from me. I know is a very over subscribed genre these days. It's called "A Late Delivery" And yes, I do know I'm weird.
  15. I have not taken part in any contests here before. Where do I post my entries? How should they be labelled when posted?
  16. I like it. Lots of gold pieces, wow!
  17. @Navy Trooper Fenson yeah I've been looking at EBay a lot. I've got the Cantina without the mini figs from there. It's always the licenced sets that seem to appear. Not Chima or Ninjago mores the pity. But I'm keeping an eye out for them. @Orange Leader I've taken to Brick Owl lately and just ordered what I hope will be useful elements in a variety of colours but that can be pricey. I guess Lego is an expensive hobby..
  18. Missing Brick is right. Think about what you are trying to produce, and why. I could build an entire lego scene in a 3D modelling application such as 3Ds Max, texture it, light it and produce a rendered image that to the untrained eye would look as close to "real life" as you can get. But I don't. I don't because the most important thing about Lego to me is the physical brick. That's the base object. The core of the medium. The skills I'm interested in seeing are how someone builds with those bricks. Not a demonstration of their digital skills. That is a whole other ball game.
  19. Yeah this makes sense. I'll keep an eye out for clearance sets beyond my usual tastes. I suppose I could eBay the unwanted mini figs. They do seem to include a lot of them in the Ninjago and Chima lines. I'll check out the set contents, maybe watch some build reviews to see what has the best pieces so I know what to look out for. I just got 3 creator sets in the last few weeks and they do contain interesting parts and more importantly for me plenty of colour :)
  20. There are no Lego stores in Ireland unfortunately :( Those classic boxes seem like a good investment. Lots of colour variety! I think that the large creative box will be my next buy. Thanks a lot Iria.
  21. Is PaB at the Lego shop at home site? What is classic? I've not bought any Ninjago. I usually look at City, The Lego Movie and Star Wars sets. I guess I should branch out, it's just I'm not into the Ninjago mini figs and Chima too. They seem not very re-usable to me. Is PaB that section on the Lego site? What is classic? Mixels now that's a good idea, thanks.
  22. Hi all I've been looking through my collection and lamenting the lack of coloured pieces. I'm sure most new guys get to this point. My collection is around 8 months old or so and I seem to have more whites greys and blacks and very few colours like tan, dark red and the primary colours. For example I have more grey and black brackets than I'll ever need. My queries are as follows. What is the best way to build up more interesting colours? Should I concentrate on one colour and seek out as many sets as I can in that colour? What advice would experienced collectors give regarding how they built up their colour resources?
  23. From my Lego art carousel, it's a desk tidy for pens and stuff. You can get it in Toys R us. Thanks all. I'm glad this build is getting some laughs. My Lego collection is still rather small. I'm trying to use the pieces that I have to hand. That's why most of my builds are white, bley and include the odd weird element :D
  24. Thanks a lot. That's the head from Fabuland Fan from 70813 which is a great Lego set. I'm so glad I heard about it on the general discussion section. It's worth checking out for its wide variety of parts.
