  1. You could swap the motorized wheel section with a 9V version, use 9V track and power controller (you don't necessarily have to do electrical mods like above). The track and 9V components are all rather expensive. For example this kit would get you started: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-9v-Train-Controller-and-Track-2867-and-2865-/162593042317 I think a decent rechargeable battery solution like Panasonic Eneloop makes more sense. You can get a good kit with more than enough AA batteries for one engine and a charger for about $35.
  2. Sir von Lego can you please describe what the apparent theme of this year's villains is? We had fire/lava demons, then lighting rock gargoyles, now what? Thanks!
  3. Is it known if / where 60162 Jungle Air Drop Helicopter will be sold in the US? Its not on the websites for S@H, or TRU, or Walmart, or Target. Those are the only US chains I am familiar with having store exclusives.
  4. Incredible space build! You have a great sense of style and lots of creative parts usage. The big satellite dish, the fuel tanks, and solar panels are my favorite parts.
  5. Not to derail your thread with photography talk but what you want to look for is the F stop number, probably simply "F2.8" etc on your screen. If you're in aperture priority mode you should be able to manually change it. You want to have a smaller aperture for a deeper field of focus, which means a higher F stop number.
  6. Cute build, you packed a lot of detail into a small space! I like all the plant types and the wall textures. I always thought the female pirate hair would be great for this sort of character. One minor suggestion for your photos, you may want to use a smaller aperture so you have a little more depth of field. Some blur of the background is a cool effect but I think its a bit extreme in these photos.
  7. Amazingly detailed review with great pictures, thanks! I think this set was underrated on release, as I enjoy the build as well as the greatest LEGO dragon ever. I regret not buying a second copy when they were on clearance.
  8. Elf girl looks fantastic, I may have to order some online to get enough since its only 3 to a box. I'm kinda disappointed with the look of the rabbit, printing seems off. As someone who doesn't buy full sets this series is pretty typical to me, 1 great figure I want a lot of and a handful I want to get 1 of for novelty.
  9. I hope its possible to get multiples of Lord Krakenskull's helmet and the black shield from Elves at a reasonable price. They could work together well to form the basis of an awesome dark knight army. It'll be easy enough to remove the light blue printing from the helmets.
  10. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious here but there is also this more common piece that is often used to represent a wine bottle: http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=95228&name=Minifig, Utensil Bottle&category=[Minifig, Utensil]#T=S&C=20&O={"color":20}
  11. I think if they had gone with forest and/or ocean villains the theme would have more hype for sustainment beyond the 3 years, but I'm looking at it as an AFOL. I imagine they focus group tested various directions and believe that these purple lighting / rock creatures are more marketable to kids.
  12. Thanks for the compliments! The wings are mounted each with 1x1 plate with clip on top, on jumper plates mounted on headlight bricks.
  13. Thanks for the review, I think the set is a great deal because of the Vermillion figures and useful parts. I wish it came with another Vermillion instead of Kai for army building purposes.
  14. I've been wanting to MOC ancient Roman architecture for a while but only recently got the right combination of inspiration and parts. This is not based on any real building but just some general motifs from the ancient world.
  15. Its certain that it is a skirt slope (design looks quite nice too). My guess is its the new shield as it looks a little big but hard to say for sure.
  16. Love the Elf Maiden, 80s Miami Vice Guy, and rabbit. The gladiator and battle dwarf are nicely detailed, but both are disappointing to me (I mean if we're getting a gladiator he is a fine representation of one, I just want a different ancient history figure). As usual, tons of cool parts and details in this series.
  17. The elf maiden looks very nice, interesting color scheme. I expect I'll pick up multiples of her. Both the gladiator an dwarf are disappointing to me. I don't need an army of gladiators, sure there are some usable parts there for barbarians but I would MUCH rather see the "ancient history" figure representing either real troops or normal civilians. As to the dwarf the red hair/beard don't work for me and I wanted to see a dwarven helmet and armor (at least printing). His belt is neat, in general though I don't care for shirtless figures though so that dings both of these for me.
  18. Another possibly simple option I've had luck with is to put the head onto an old torso. I couldn't say for sure how old it has to be but using late 80s / early 90s torsos has worked for me, their necks seem to be slightly larger than recent figures.
  19. The panther and leopard look incredible. Otherwise, not much of interest. The jungle scenery is nice but weighed down with mediocre vehicles.
  20. Has the new chess set been discussed? I saw this in a LEGO store and was surprised I hadn't heard about it. It has a great price per part at $55 for 1304 pieces. 40174 courtesy of brickset.
  21. Excellent build, amazing details! The Elven architecture is really well represented. I actually like the shredder helmets, would be a little better in gold maybe.
  22. Its weird how this theme gets prelims for the summer before the spring sets even are out... The pale green color for the walls of the evil castle looks a bit bright to me, not what I expected. Dark blue dragon set has the most promise.
  23. Nice review. Anybody else notice the mistake on the manual? Look at Aaron:
  24. Bus Station and Freight Terminal sound like nice realistic civilian topics, always a plus. Still not much hint about what they're doing in the jungle, but half tracks are always neat. The combination of a mobile lab and a permanent one sounds very similar to Arctic.
  25. Thanks for the list! Looks like a pricey wave positioned for prime time next Christmas. Curious how Knighton Castle turns out, as well as the Stone Colossus. A Mecha dragon for Macy could be cool but given the price not sure how detailed it will be.
