[MOC] Bucyrus RH400 Mining Shovel
Kristof replied to sheo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Perfection! Absolute perfection! :D Perhaps except the jeggedy drive, but thats totally understandable given how much springiness and play accumulates in plastic lego drivetrain. I doubt I have ever seen nicer, more accurate and functional lego mining shovel! -
Hello everyone, I hope this build somewhat fits in this section - after all it is a large scale 'minifigure'. I liked the concept of such big figures since I first saw one in the Marvel Super Heroes set (I think it was a large version of antman) and I believe there was at least one more reoccurrance in other Lego set, although I can't find that one now. Anyway, my figure is a large scale 'minifigure' of an astronaut. I tried to maintain the minifigure look and feel while bringing in some details and mimics of the 'ptints' on arms and legs. It was put together rather fast as a last minute entry to the ongoing contest on Lego Ideas. This contest is supposed to help TLG design their next space-based promotional polybag, so I designed something that I would actually like to get as a freebie, and I hope other would as well :D If you like it, you can see more pictures and vote for it HERE! I don't have very many friends on social media that I could lure the votes from so my chances are low, but each vote definitely counts so thank you! (plus if you feel like sharing with your fellow lego enthiusiasts, that's beyond my wildest wishes :D) Of course all comments and criticism are also much appreciated. Footnote - I haven't yet checked the part availability in used colors so I am not 100% sure whether it is currently buildable or not (probably not). I plan, however, on revisiting that, making necessary changes and releasing the LDD instructions so if you'd like to build your own Brick's'tronaut, stay tuned :D

Hello everyone, I would like to share my recent build that I put together last minute for the ongoing contest on Lego IDEAS called 'Moments in space'. It is a large scale brick built 'minifigure' of an astronaut. It is inspired by these big brick built figures appearing in several lego sets (as for now I only recall big antman from the Marverl Super Heroes set, but I think there was at least one more). [MOC] [INSTRUCTIONS] UCS Tantive IV - CR-90 Corvette
Kristof replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
U got me teased for sure :D !!! -
AKA how to make the most confusing topic name :D Well, jawdropping work. You set the bar very high with your U-Wing and this seems to match the quality. Congratz and I can't wait for your next project. (btw you have ATCH instead of HATCH and PREDIPODITION instead of PREDISPOSITION on your website :))

I was not by any means a fan of these birds in tlj but the model is really excellent!!

This makes me want to watch the phantom menace :D Well done once again. Fakt parada!

My suggestion - if you bought the instructions and you are building in LDD according to those, you should not post random build updates but only showcase your MODs, once you get there. The picture you posted so far does not show anything I could identify as any change or improvement (I don't say there is not, but if yes, then you should point them out.). Hence the only information this post possibly conveys is the picture of the WIP LDD construction of Anios Venator, which is unnecessary and he might be even rightfully offended. If you somehow just reverse engineer the model from say pictures you found on forums, then you are probably good to share whatever you like. In all honesty, though, I am getting sick of how popular topics like this became. 'Hey, I am thinking about doing this cool thing, so far I opened LDD and placed some bricks in - you guys tell me what you think!' -whats the point? All people can respond in this moment is either positive or negative encouragement. 'cool idea, looking forward to what you make!'. Thats nice to hear but besides emotional value it is worthless. I would much rather see people self-moderate their own content and try to actually have something worth presenting before they jump in and share. This is a general complaint, not just against this topic, yet this is a good example. This is really like some next level of WIP topic. The only instance in which I would consider it worthy would be if the idea was actually brand new, original. Then, perhaps, it makes sense to 'tease it out' to get peoples opinions and feedback, or just create some excitement. Here, people did MODs to this build many, many times already - therefore until you actually have some MOD to share, I consider your teaser post really expandable. Don't get me wrong. Making improvements on the old design and sharing them is a GREAT thing. The only thing I am braging about is the way you decided to present it.

Excellent! There is only one visual aspect that from some reason bothers me - these half and quarter round tiles you used to create the tapered transition from the nose towards the cockpit. I dont know, I am sure its probably geometrically as close as you can get in this scale but these elements introduce quite distinct visual feature that I think shouldnt be there. Then again, this is nitpicking just because I have nothing else to complain about :D Great job.

[MOC] [INSTRUCTIONS] UCS Tantive IV - CR-90 Corvette
Kristof replied to Kit Bricksto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
God bless these bump comments :D I seem to be missing the best creations here as they get flooded so quick with pointless threads :( Per-fec-tion! Even if you only built the front part (I struggle calling it cockpit - its a big ship, right? Command bridge, perhaps...?) it would be a creation of major significance. I absolutely love it and eventhough there is little chance of me ever building it, if you make the instructions, expect my bill :D -
Absolutely stunning. For me being a well known pervert prequel lover, designs like this make my day!

You really need to be more comprehensive when asking such question and expecting some meaningful answers. Arms up, arms down... clearly so far noone really decyphered what is the problem you are dealing with. If your figure is still sealed in the original non seethrough polybag and all you are refering to is the rotation of the arms, I don't think you can reason about that very much. You can move the arms even through the sealed bag so it is hardly going to suggest anything about whether the figure inside is legit or not. If the seal looks fine, I would assume it is fine, but heck, noone would know unless you open it :D

No worries whatsoever! I wouldn't even say I deserve any credit :D This is EKae's model, not mine. Mine might have served as an inspiration but thats it. Thanks for appreciation though :D I hope one day I will revisit the original and actually build it, you said it, it looks rather nice :D

Wow :D I'm glad that the Tough Barge now exists for real :D It looks really good like this, perhaps even better than my bigger original :D Thanks @EKae and @bricksmarlin.

I missed this back in July! Wonderful ship and kudos for sharing the LDD. I hope many people will build this because the design looks great!

I wish there was a way to make these s-foild thinner. Having 3 stud thick sandwith for the folded wings seems excessive for this scale. But I understand you don't want to loose accuracy and sleek studless look by just using plates. Also I'd suggest checking the width of the back portion of the hull - from the top view it seems to wide and bulky atm. Impressive speed of design though! Im looking forward for the result.

[MOC] Resistance transport from The Last Jedi
Kristof replied to hachiroku's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Very nice design and big thanks for the build video! -
I bow all the way to the ground to this. Spectacular models. I usually try to depict my favourite aspects and comment on them (I don't even know why, perhaps trying to make my comment more valuable :D) but here I just love the models entirely! Oh and btw your photography is just as excellent as your design.

That wingspan! :D Excellent model.

I don't suggest giving up :) More like taking one step at the time. Noone starts learning math by tryting to compute complex integrals. You first learn to add, subtract, multiply... and the same applies on technic building. Sure, to some extent you can speed up the learning curve, especially if you have a good intuition and mindset towards mechanics but still there is a lot to learn. Get the pieces for sure. If you have the money, buy some technic sets. It's surprisingly different building experience and if you pick good sets with lots of functions, constructing them will teach you a lot. AT-TE sounds cool. There would be different challenges, more of a structural build.

Parada! :D So glad you're back with new designs, bringing some fresh prequel air in here. Cool model - what is the next podracer gonna be?
