  1. Fantastic use of color - a very "worn and abandoned" yet not quite dilapidated feel to it. Bravo.
  2. My 19-month old son can't get enough of his Duplo trains. He's run them for hours on the floor while I run mine up on the display table. Cheers to "training" them from a young age, Zus!
  3. Shameless Ideas self-promotion never seems to play well in these parts, cowpoke...
  4. I can already hear my wife screaming "why don't you do something useful with your Lego time and build THAT!" Shame on you for the months of torment you've inflict on me and guys like me! :)
  5. Wow - sure beats my first effort! Screams of outstanding potential as you continue to refine your talents - I look forward to seeing them!
  6. Very cool. Like any great MOC, you kept true to the spirit of the color/style - while creating all the core features necessary for a modular-grade build. If Lego had designed the set the way you did here, I'd have definitely been a buyer of it!
  7. Marvelous, professional grade facade. I'm also really smitten with the turnstyles - never seen those attempted before and you did it perfectly.
  8. Any ambitions for an interior? Marvelous build so far, would be interested to see what you come up with for interior design!
  9. Is the table a "permanent" layout (i.e., can you keep it setup there long term)? If so, you've got a lot of great structures and rail layout to be the basis - and lots of options for "landscaping". My layout is similarly on 3 folding tables - if yours is a permanent spot, a tunnel might be a viable addition - basically a wooden "box" that you can cover in brick. I know my 2-yr old kid gets a thrill out of seeing a train (with LED headlights) steaming through it :)
  10. Big fan of the facade of both the bank and supply shop. Well done!
  11. I always enjoy (and occassionally plagerize!) your very clever interior accessories. Both the chainsaw and lead blower (or power sprayer?) are pretty slick.
  12. I dig it, well done! The Mikado also gives me warm fuzzy nostalgia for the old "Railroad Tycoon" PC games :)
  13. I love the facing on the upper floor (brick intensive but no doubt worth it) - however the aesthetics seem to clash a bit to me with the relatively "plain" lower level. Just my own tastes - but I'd recommend either reducing the degree of color-changes amongst that upper level, or speckling in some off-white into the bottom. Either way, great build, per your usual high standards!
  14. Does do the inkjet clear label stickers hold up in terms of adhesiveness? Do they look sufficiently "professional", or do you find they tend to start peeling off before too long?
  15. Ha! Just wait until I get around to uploading updated pics of the Nodding Donkey to Flickr. I've completely overhauled it, and it's pretty darn slick. Although, it's located on the opposite end of my layout from the farm, within the Industrial District...
  16. A few months back, several of you were kind enough to offer some ideas regarding a Farm MOC. Well, I finished it a while back, but realized I never shared it. Complete and comprehensive pics can be found on my Flickr, but this is a general overview shot. Feel free to peruse the Flickr if it sparks your interest for the full set of about 20 pics (they're organized into a single album). IMG_2197 by airborneafol, on Flickr
  17. Gents, Still relatively new to trains (city display layout guy), I've finally begun building a good number of my own freight (5) and passenger (2) cars. Nothing that is worth of posting just yet, but I'm steadily improving. I've seen several of you do some custom stickers - while I'm adverse for it on city buildings, I have to admit I'm a fan of them for trains (in moderation). So I'm curious about what others have done and found success with... 1. Custom Printing of Stickers (done yourself). Are there any recommendations for quality sticker-printers? Any recommendations for where to buy quality stock (sticker paper) that adheres well to Lego? I'm willing to make an investment into my own printer, since this route seems ideal for truly customizing what you want - I could just use some tips on a quality one for Lego sticker jobs, as I know virtually nothing of printers. 2. Custom Sticker Purchases (pre-printed). Aside from the handful of sellers I've on Ebay, and their limited options (and my skepticism of the quality), I'd love any recommendations for "Eurobricks AFOL Endorsed" sellers who provide an ample variety of custom stickers (for tanker cars, box cars, flatbeds, hoppers, etc) that you may have. Thanks in advance for any tips!
  18. Really impressive - love the structures and crane! My *only* recommendation would be that you consider sporadically slipping in some more off-colored round flats, and/or some 2x2 rounds. You did a fantastic job mixing in a healthy dose of texture to the little wall adjacent the water, I think similarly breaking up that huge section of 1x1 round flat grey tiles could aid the aesthetics nicely. Overall fantastically done!
  19. While I'd love to see a Lego Zoo set (my som loves the Duplo ones), count me amongst the "traditionalists" who prefers as few molds as possible. The more customized the molds, the fewer interchangable/creative opportunities - generally speaking. We already have monkeys, aligators, horses, bulls (to name just a few off the top of my head). I'd personally love to see a Lego Zoo that has as few "new animal" molds as possible, and instead does some brick-built animals. Lego has shown a clever knack for a variety of brick-built birds (Creator series comes to mind), so I'm sure they could do well with similarly brick built zoo animals.
  20. Be glad some folks prefer opening high value MISB - if not for them, you wouldn't see as much demand, they wouldn't become as scarce, and thus those who keep them MISB as an "investment" wouldn't see nearly the rate of returns on investment we currently do.
  21. I've been looking at alot of tower MOC's lately, as I work up the courage to attempt one for my switching yard. This one is definitely top notch and great inspiration. Well done! Have you considered doing an interior? That's something that seems pretty scarce (train folks tend not to fuss with them as a general matter). I'd be thrilled to see what you'd come up with if you did!
  22. Heck, if YOU like the wheels as-is, that's the important thing! I've been lurking this forum for over a year now, and never once have seen a mean-spirited critique. I assume most folks appreciate the critiques because of collective ideas only serve to enhance our builds - but don't feel like you should make a tweak just because of the consensus! ;)
  23. Do they make element 4107761 'Plate with Slide' in sand green? (I mistakenly referred to it as a rail plate - either we're thinking of different elements or I'm gonna be thrilled they exist in SG!)
  24. Been checking everday this week for the next update - keep them coming, loving the progress and eager to see it continue!
  25. Really love all the 'inventory' items inside. Great job!
