  1. Regarding modular build's place in TLG's priority list... I saw a 30-minute episode on Bloomberg TV about TLG this past winter. Apparently TLG's current CEO made marketing to both AFOL's (presumably the modular series) and girls (Friends and Disney lines) a bit priority when he came in (2006ish?). Since TLG is privately owned, there's a disadvantage of "financial transparency" for guys like us - but Bloomberg emphasized how every indication is those marketing efforts have paid huge profitability dividiends, and led the resurgence of Lego from an early-2000's decline. And one big *advantage* of being privately owned is they're not beholden to quarterly earnings or shareholder profitability - so they are able to sustain less-profitable lines as long as they're confident in the long-term value of them (modular's side effect of bringing in AFOL's, as many have noted). All in all, I wouldn't worry about Lego drifting away from modulars anytime soon. And they'll continue to focus on AFOL's as a very lucrative market, that they've only recently begun tapping into.
  2. Beautiful MOC. Bravo. I did a florist myself. Have you considered a 4x6x1 glass "wall" panel to construct a "cooler" on the florist interior? I'll take a pic of the one I did last night - but its definitely a marvelous touch and looks like you may have interior space for one...
  3. I've been following this forum for a few months now, and finally registered an account. Short bio, since introductions seem commonplace: - 33 year old male living with wife and 9-month old son in Minnesota, USA. Formerly a U.S. Army paratrooper (hence "Airborne" AFOL). - Childhood Lego diehard fan, and recently "rediscovered" them with the birth of my son. What started out with "just his first Lego firetruck for Christmas" has sprawled into a full blown AFOL affair. - Two tabletops spanning ~40 baseplates (32x32 stud) in my basement. City theme - my niche. The handful of lego sets are slowly being crowded out by MOC's - many of which will surely be posted for critiques here over years to come. I'll continue to troll the City/Train based topics routinely - some of you guys post pics of remarkable inspiration for my own designs! Feel free to ask any questions of myself, and I'll probably chime in on occasion with questions or input - it seems alot has changed in the Lego world in the past 20 years, so while I devote alot of time and money to my MOC's, I certainly feel like a newbie compared to the knowledge and expertise so many around here have! Cheers.
