  1. Yeah, well, thanks but... Many here, including me, would be ecstatic if they were simply producing anything related to space at all (Star Wars aside, of course)... Though I'm sure an official version of something like this would have an incredible amount of very cool parts.
  2. I'd need an M:Tron Unikitty for that.
  3. Thanks guys :) @Zblj: The fluorescent parts all look great under UV lights. I wish they'd make some transparent fluorescent blue parts again. There are only those tiny roof tiles found in elves & mixels in that colour lately. They'd look awesome as reactors in the dark with a black light.
  4. Here is the Asteroid Field Recon Voyager : This is my 13th custom neo-M:Tron MOC, continuing with the extended colour scheme I had detailed some time ago in this thread. Of course, you can click all the pictures for bigger versions. The Asteroid Field Recon Voyager (AFRV), is inspired by the Stellar Recon Voyager (6956) gameplay-wise and retains some of its decoration elements. Like its predecessor, it gives the feeling of a large interior, now with 5 crew members on deck, has what originally seemed to be canons, huge radar parabolas on the top, a container transport vehicle on the front and has a hold on the back for container transportation. It lacks however the small containers on its side, which were both too small and impractical, but they can be put in the hold with other containers. Its purpose was re-imagined and it is now dedicated to the destruction of asteroids threatening the colony, and the transportation of containers and devices. The AFRV is about 76 studs long, 62 studs wide and weights approximately 3.7kg (8lb 3oz). It has eight reactors of varying sizes... And 30 or so steerable guns, missiles... Among which some are well hidden. A small container transportation vehicle is hidden under the bridge. The hold is equipped with a crane to load the two new containers. The new containers are, of course, in the same standardized format as those of my other vehicles (see the first topic for details). The entrance of the ship is located in the hold. The ship can be opened to play inside. The bigger part at the top can be easily removed and is locked in closed position with the octogonal windows. Also, there's a new little droid. There's a weapon rack at the entrance, and the mandatory fire extinguishers because everything burns at every opportunity in space, movies taught us that. The bridge is accessible through sliding doors, that's a mandatory feature as well. Nobody's playing Space Invader... when the captain's around. Finally the landing gear can be retracted. And the bonus black light pic: The entire flickr album is visible here. There, hope you enjoyed it.
  5. Your Gundams are really masterpieces. I guess it's been asked before, but do you know if the joints would actually be strong enough to build such big (and supposedly heavy) models? Or maybe if they can actually be built because I don't understand a quarter of what I'm seeing here.
  6. That's a very nice dropship. The orange window works very well with the blue and grey and looks fine with those troopers. Maybe some ropes would be a nice addition but that's a really minor detail.
  7. Excellent! :D That's one perfectly fine little M:Tron ship to me! :) Those little bubble canopies are really great fun to work with, although I wish we were given more trans-neon-green shapes to play with.
  8. Very nice renditions, and a good source of inspiration. :) Also, it's always funny to spot an illegal build on an official box, good job...
  9. You can also try with lamp holders. http://brickset.com/parts/design-4081 Either using them on the side, or having some with the studs on top and other with studs on the bottom and attaching them with shafts or anything similar. But you'll need a tiny space to put them and hide them if necessary.
  10. I want the same... at minifig scale. :D
  11. Great Power Loader indeed. :) Not only that, but the proportions of minifigs aren't anything like human proportions anyway. There was a contest to win a "real scale" Emmett not long ago, it was about 1m10 IIRC. And despite that low height, the head, hands and feet were completely oversized compared to mine. So it would be impossible to have a PL with a minifig using the same scale for both. It would look like Gimly in a Power Loader, at best. xD
  12. Well, that's probably the biggest advantage of black. It can hide the straight lines and right angles a little. I don't think it will ever really look organic though, unfortunately. A small additional Benny pic for the lulz:
  13. A small update, I posted pics of the current version of the queen at the bottom of the first message. There's still room for improvement, but I think it's getting better. :)
  14. The shiny plastic even makes the ground look wet. That's perfect. :)
  15. The top is too thin but that should be easy to fix and I hope you will because this has a very good potential. Otherwise it's really well done. :) It's more like the ones from Aliens though.
  16. What's sad about it is the lack of compatibility between existing collections. It's really hard to create new vehicles (and bases to a lesser extent) for the old series with new part shapes when so few exist in the right colours. I can only hope some good stuff will come during the second half of 2015 (although unlikely) and 2016. Also, about rare colours, I'd really love to see fair amounts of trans-neon-blue again. There's only ever been one canopy in that colour, and not the most versatile shape unfortunately.
  17. Thanks all. :) Added a pic. @deraven: I even made it bigger than necessary by adding that round "final brick" on the bottom. There's nothing like that on the original design, it just makes it easier to take the PL without touching the more fragile decorations on the sides. But I'm sure there's a way to make it thinner (front/back) with 1x1 bricks with studs on two opposing sides (http://brickset.com/parts/design-47905 ). But I don't have any of those in yellow (and apparently they may not even exist). It's worth keeping it in mind in case they release some though. :) @Kodan Black: And now it's Sulaco time! Well, it will take some time... A huge lot of time.... And only the bay. @ttoole73: I remember the early concept art by Syd Mead was much more massive. This is still tiny in comparison. xD Also, I'll update the queen's photos in my other thread asap. @Lazarus: I don't have the plans, and I don't use LDD, but since several people asked me for them, I'll see if someone near me could help with that.
  18. Loosely based on the Caterpillar P5000 Power Loader from Aliens. I originally tried to make it much more accurate and thinner, but the legs were attached only to the minifig and were falling easily. And I hate that. So rather than trying to reproduce the original properly, I only took inspiration from it and made a robust and playable design. The hinges at the same level as the minifig's hips make it much fatter than the original and now it looks like a Super Deformed version of the original. The minifig's proportions didn't help either. I may try to find a better solution for that part in the future, but until then I'm happy enough with it. So, here it is: :) And now with the xenomorphs:
  19. Haha, thanks. :) Here's an additional quick little scene: The rescue party was taking longer than expected by SpirituInsanum, on Flickr
  20. That's an awesome "little" outpost! Do you plan to make more on the same theme?
  21. It's huge and great and all, but I want to see M:Trons ! Only thing that I find disturbing are those tiny tiny claws on the M:Tron suit. Do they really need an entire suit to lift things that small?
  22. This restoration is amazing ! It's funny because with your photos, it looks vintage and new, like a real photo from the 80s.
  23. It's NoVVember ! I wanted a colourful spaceship for my Intergalactic Girl, and I saw NoVVember was coming, so here it is. The many colours (5 pinks, 3 purples and teal), large amount of metallic grey, reflective surfaces and transparent parts make it a bit hard to photograph correctly, so it looks much more convoluted on the pics than it actually is. Sorry about that. It's rather limited on play features: two missiles and a hook for the gun, but it's easy to handle and has a good "swoosh" factor. :) And the bonus pic:
  24. The amount of awesomeness in this vastly exceeds my commenting skills, so you'll only get a: Wooooooow!
