  1. Ah... gotcha. Seen this one before. Couple things. Very weak study. They discuss it themselves in the Discussion part of the article. They state: "We would like to stress that the main constraints we found were not only that there are still only a few studies on this subject, but also that techniques, design and samples are very diverse across studies." It is a really interesting hypothesis to be sure. I am glad someone is looking into it. But pitted against literally decades of research on the sex differences in brain functioning and structure between men and women- without being overly verbose, this is nothing. Not to dismiss it. Certainly important. But certainly not proof. Also, again, careful with the logic here. I think it is only half-baked. Proof is a sticky word. Depending on its usage, proof is often used as a categorical term. Webster defines it as "absolute" and as "inducing certainty." Definitive in nature would be another word for it. By that logic that would mean that anyone whose brain does not match that of their identified gender (but rather their natal sex) is not really that of their identified gender? Someone not having a true transgender experience? Ouch..... I think you would create a large following of hatred there. There may be some biological involvement here. Why shouldn't there be? It is a real phenomena so it should have some biological underpinnings or associations. But proof? Naw..... Yea see my statement above. Another caution about reading medical findings and trying to extrapolate human experiences from them is that biology and psychological experiences tend to produce correlations, but certainly not "proofs" or linear relationships. Relationships are usually weak and multi-factorial. Endless examples. Like ever time we drink alcohol we lose literally thousands of neurons yet don't automatically feel dumber. Some of the brightest minds out there drink tons of alcohol. Literally decades of research on white matter hyperintensities (in the brain) which are not-so-good stuff found on brain MRI but their relationships to psychological experiences are loose indeed. Proponents of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) (and all the brain related research there - which is substantial) would have you think that playing rugby, soccer or american football will turn your brain to mush in just a few years yet they overwhelming degree of professional athletes in these sports are doing just fine decades after their careers. Researchers in the area of Alzheimer's disease (AD) would have, ten years ago, said that plaques and tangles in the brain (with long medical names) CAUSE AD. But new we sing different tunes. We know folks pass with AD symptoms but NO plaques and tangles. And, upon brain dissection and examination after death we also know that people pass with no known symptoms and their brain are riddled with plaques and tangles. See my previous statement. False equivalence here. I am working under the assumption we are all talking about everyday communication here. Use in the office, the basic need for communication, etc. Your examples clearly do not fall under this and, I think, much more in line with taunting or bullying which is a different matter entirely. Don't change things up so transparently, it gives the appearance of not taking the debate seriously.
  2. Ahhh!! I miscounted again? (see my edit) Well... I suppose I need to re-think my "offense" Ahh! why? The psychosis thing? If I did... my bad. But I can only see that interpretation as to why you would take umbrage with my use of the example.
  3. I read through all of these and you mentioned Technic... my preferred theme only TWICE. I am deeply offended for this act of violence.....
  4. Why? Because "psychosis" is a bad thing? If so, that is your interpretation and one that falls in line with a social construct view of psychosis itself. In a straight-jacket, slobbering, mumbling to oneself rocking in a corner somewhere. Propagating the very abuse you are trying to dispel in the LGBTQ community. Within the medical community, we do not see psychosis that way. It can, dare I say, be even endearing. I have worked with people with psychotic symptoms for the better part of my career, and many of them represent the very best of humanity. It is inaccurate, I give you, in that typically it is something that should be relieved if it is causing problems, if possible. To another's point, if it is not causing problems, it would be fine to leave alone. However, by definition, psychosis really only exists when it causes discord in one's life. Gender identity is something that should NOT be fixed, repaired, etc. if it is not causing problems. But many times it is. And many, many times gender identity is not even the issue, but an untreated, undiagnosed other condition. In these cases, no, one is not the right authority on their identity. Here is where we agree. 1200 billion percent. But one cannot force others to agree. Nor is it violent or abusive if they do not agree. We all identify in ways which others do not see us as. The examples are endless. In an older part of my career I oversaw work done in a marriage and family clinic. I worked with good men and women who had to parent children they were not the biological parents of. But knew the children since they were babies. Cooked, cleaned, provided resources, etc. for these children since they were infants. They "identified" as their parents and had the right to do so. They preferred to be called "mom" and "dad" but many times the children grew up and would refuse to refer to them as such. Broke those good men and women's hearts. Rude? yes. insolent? perhaps. But violent? Abusive? Armed with this logic a father who acts out and beats the child b/c they would not call them "father" or "dad" would be justified. Is this what you are advocating? Oh and btw this EXACT scenario plays out thousands of times a day across the globe. There are about a billion other examples i could share such as this. I say this out of empathy, especially from the eyes of not only a psychologist but also as a parent to a trans child whom I love and is a terrific person. The rationale that it is violent or abusive to not refer to someone as they identify with is half-baked and lacks foresight. It is extremely rude, I give you. Inconsiderate and perhaps even ignorant. But not violent. If you agree that it is you are actually advocating for a whole lot of reactionary violence I am fairly certain you are not even aware of. I agree that it can be violent if used in certain ways. Such as in taunting or bullying. Calling someone, over and over, in their face or something by their non-preferred pronouns yes can be an act of violence. But in these cases it is not the act of non-preferential referment that is the issue, but rather bullying which is a different issue. It then turns into "name-calling" - which is a whole other can of worms. Don't confuse the two. One can get angry all they want. I never advocated for anything else. I would think "hurt" or saddened would be the more mature response. Angry at someone refusing to behave in a way you want them to behave is something that typically occurs very early in the developmental process. As we age we realize others behaving in ways one does not like is a routine, daily occurrence. Hourly even in some cases. Healthy development means developing ways to deal with that hurt so that it does not turn to anger, and certainly not violence. And I am not sure what you mean by medical proof for transgender existence. I do not believe that is a well-researched or even articulated claim. By definition, one advocated by LGBTQ proponents themselves, gender is NOT a medical or better put, biological designation. And they are correct. Sex is. Gender is not. So, given that it is not a biological designation some "medical proof" is not needed. One's identity has no known biological markers. There is no lab test, body scan, etc. one can do to find one's identity. You are correct about the "weird fantasy" thing. But I am not sure why that came up in reference to anything I said. I certainly did not state anything like that. Sounds more like a "top-down" processing thing to me. I will end by saying self-identity period is a confusing, fluid, and alternating concept whose development is life-long. There is no medical test for it....period. As it relates to gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. To try and justify one's anger over a medical finding appears to me actually disingenuous and baffling when the thing that you are trying to advocate for (i.e. one's identity) is supposed to be fluid and non-binary. Which is exactly the opposite of what medical science attempts to do (i.e. break things down in the physical, binary, and categorical world).
  5. No. I can tell you as a clinical psychologist. This is not correct. People can and do identify with all sorts of things to which they are not. Folks who exhibit psychotic symptoms, overt and objective, certainly don't identify as such. They think they are as sane as everyone else out there. And this should not be interpreted in any shape or form with me comparing someone with psychotic symptoms and a member of the LGBTQ community. The analogy fits, that is all. For transparency, I am a strong advocate for LGBTQ rights. I am the proud father of a trans son. Best kid I know and I love him dearly. But LGBTQ messages need to be shared clearly, with accurate information, and without ulterior motives. Not for the benefit of the rest of society, but FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE LGBTQ progress. My son is harmed by false pretenses and messages. We may be the author of our own identities, but we don't have a right to force others to adhere to them. Nor is that an act of aggression or violence. Propagation of this narrative actually hurts the LGBTQ movement, not helps it.
  6. I think this is actually fairly remarkable. Having just completed the Grove 6400, a 6 axle crane at this scale (49.5mm tire) I can attest how difficult it is to fit in all these functions. And... you made it motorized with many more functions! Great job. I was concerned, even in a six axle crane, that the tires would not fit to scale but it looks great! Which turn table did you use? Banana gears? I don't suppose instructions will be made? I would gladly take apart my Grove to make this beauty, even if it meant spending some $$ for the rare part I may not have. I will also say that although this crane has been done many times in many different ways and configurations, I think cranes done to 49.5 tire scale are rare. Certainly more work and attempts at this scale can be done. I am not sure we have seen a 11200 done with this tire before. Nice project selection.
  7. This is a rendition of the Liebherr LR 1750 I did years ago. You will notice the "lattice" of the crane of the boom(s) is really only at the vertical (sides) of the booms. No lattice ("W" shaped criss-crossing allowing for triangles and 45 degree angles) on the tops or bottoms. Still a strong crane, but I learned it could have been stronger if I had did a lattice on the top and bottom of the booms. I believe your construction is similar. But like I said, just an observation I made as we went through the same process. Overall, great submission!
  8. I will have to give this the proper time for reading, digestion, but real quick, as I lover of cranes I love this build! Movement is smooth... hard to achieve with the weigh and friction involved in large, heavy builds. I actually have tons of un-used lift arms (red even) so I may try to give this a go at some point. But one quick observation, and this is something I also found out by experience in building a large lattice boom crane myself is that one can achieve much greater boom strength by supporting it not only vertically, but also on the horizontal planes as well. I see that the majority of the boom is constructed by axles in axle-hole with pins elements strategy. I used this same method when building my crane, and although it was strong, it was not nearly as strong as it could have been with these added supports. Either way, great crane and thanks for sharing!
  9. Umm... is there any Lego left? Only joking......To each his/her own. I am working on a similar (not nearly as extreme) build. But would seriously like to see a video of this in action...
  10. Still one of my favorite builds out there. Bodywork was structural, angled, almost functional. I welcome the changes with the new pieces, and it is always fun to go back and tweak an old build, but like others, I have my reservations about the front end. I loved it the way it was... unique is a great way to put it.
  11. Funny, I am in the market for a C43 AMG or similar model. So I have seen tons of MB videos lately, and slobbered over the Brabus C63 AMG. So this comes timely. Overall I like the build. As others have mentioned, not sure about the front door frame. ALso, I really appreciate the effort of the homemade stickers.... but unfortunately I think they fall short. I think they actually do your model a disservice. I do love the pics, and enjoy that you got your model a little dirty.
  12. It sure did. Apparently, what I had to do was save the changes (even though in the edit box it was showing vertical pictures) and when I did that and went back to editing signature block page again it allowed me to manipulate things. Thanks for the help and hopefully this experience can be used by others in the future.
  13. I have used the "O" ring solution for years and never had a problem. Even with XL motors
  14. U joint is not that bad. Not at all. Wrap the ends with one of the white silicone bands multiple times if you are breaking them. Problem solved. Keep things simple...
  15. Okay, finally getting time to look at this. I use chrome, but I have also tried on firefox, etc. I can submit some screen shots, but really there is no magic to my process. Surely not experienced enough to use anything special. I just copy and paste the images from my flickr account like this... And they all go vertical. They are more than small enough to go side by side. I don't want to take up tons of space just for a signature block but I know its possible (to do them side by side) because I did it before (when mocpages was my hosting site). Since they died however, I have not been able to get it right.... Well I'll be darned... as soon as I hit "save" it rights itself.... I will try this on the signature block....
  16. @Peppermint_M - thxs for the reply. Yea, I can take some snapshots.... Gotta go now, but I can get to this this weekend....
  17. Welp... thxs for the suggestion... but I get the same problem. They are stacking the images, not placing them horizontal. The sizes are 200x144. I really can't go much smaller. Don't know what else to do. Many others get this right... wish others would chime in....
  18. I will give it a try tonight when I get home. I am not a computer-guy... so I hope I do not botch it. But TY for the response....
  19. Yes. But I also mostly use planetary hubs made from other Lego elements prior to the most recent release of the put-together hubs. Point is.. additional torque not really needed. One can made non-stalling crawlers with BuWizz 2.0. Additional speed? Very useful. Additional torque, at least for the builds I am doing, I don't think so. Builds for others? i am sure it could be very useful...
  20. On the flip side I am sure AFOLs will go to town on add-ons and different configurations. That is what made 8110 so much fun IMO. I likely will be getting this set, just to do all the adaptations to it that likely will arise...
  21. Yes I understand. I don't think anything I said did not articulate that. My point was that although I could downgear for more torque, I don't think that would be needed for my application. BW 2.0 is already twisting axles. More speed is nearly always appreciated, but in the case of crawlers, not really. But all is a moot point. Already ordered mine and I am sure I will find some application for it. Very excited. Also loving the light application. I know it is cheesy.... but I have always loved RGB lights...
  22. Great review and I am very excited for BW 3.0. However, my next builds will be testing a series of rock-crawlers and I wonder if BW 3.0 will be all that helpful given speed is not really required. Of course I can down gear and therefore have more torque, but I was achieving plenty of torque with BW 2.0. I am ordering a 3.0, but I may not be able to use it for a while.
  23. THxs! It would be cool to have both and compare them side by side. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be building the big brother, with the 62 mm wheels anytime soon....
  24. Hey Jim... I wrote this yesterday but unfortunately it has not gotten any responses.

    Any ideas?

  25. Great... I am glad you like it. I never got a yea/nay for adding rock climbers, which although the Unimog is NOT that there are other truck possibilities if these are considered. So... I will add a few more. Here is @PunkTacoNYC's Chili crawler with a few modifications and additions. Bigger tires on planetary hubs (not the new elements, these are hubs that have long been in creation). Slight modifications with gearing and with BuWizz. I disassembled this model a few years back. Wish I hadn't but am going to rebuild. One of the funnest Lego models I have built. I think Lego builds are limited in terms of speed and fun, not just b/c of elements and power/electronics but because of ABS. Can't churn ABS thousands of RPMs without degrading the parts much. However, trial truck and rock climbers are different. I think one can really have RC quality fun with Lego builds. Less about speed and more about power (which with SBrick and BuWizz can be achieved), precision, driving, etc. Can actually be quite cerebral as you try to pick you lines, hit the terrain in the right spots, etc. I love at moment around 2:35 in the above video where I almost fall off the "trail" but manage to stay one knowing the weight of the vehicle. I have another large crawler, which looks muck more like a traditional "truck" - but all pics are at home. Will add once I have the chance. Also, going to rebuild @PunkTacoNYC's rocket and also chili crawlers with new BuWizz 3.0 when in finally arrives...
