  1. It's finished and it's terrible. 2 L-motors for tracks 1 M-motor for boom up/down 1 M-motor for hook/string This project has been sitting on my shelf for almost 4 months and I finished it in a couple of hours last night. The result is a very ugly crane that has a bouncy boom. Perhaps it could double as a ride at an amusement park. The only nice part is the battery switch which is incorporated into the model. No pictures this time, just a short video:
  2. Congratulations to the winners, you earned your spot in the limelight. Thanks Jim for organizing this contest, it was a lot of fun.
  3. I also missed this MOC - very nice job on it, the red one is my favourite.
  4. I like the modifications - do you get two copies of each set?
  5. I'm looking forward to this. Will it stand on two diagonal feet at a time, or is the balancing too tricky?
  6. Excellent MOC! The lines are very well done. I especially like the hood and the fact that the rear lid opens up the same way as the real car. Bravo.
  7. That's a very nice hook design, dr_spock. Does this part fit on one of the 2L axles to make it a tackle block? I would try it but I can't for the life of me find any of my cam pieces.
  8. I'm not sure if that's a good idea - stainless steel ball bearings are much harder than the plastic. You risk damaging the bricks very easily.
  9. Nice and light, all it needs is a buggy motor.
  10. Thank you, I wasn't expecting such a nice compliment. I think my skills have a lot of room for improvement but I'm glad my feedback had a good effect. Good builds like this one deserve recognition.
  11. I was going to say the exact same thing. This set has no appeal to me but it's fun to see the alternate builds people are making with it. This Starfighter is very good looking and makes me realize this set isn't as bad as I thought it was.
  12. Speaking of backgrounds, what does everyone use? I tend to stick to the white backdrop that came with my light tent, but sometimes I wish for something a little more rigid. I experimented with some paper that is meant for writing with chalk (very dark grey) and it wasnt too bad, but it was still very loose. I looked into construction paper, but a lot of it is glossy or shows the paper fibres. Can anyone suggest something else?
  13. This is a very beautiful model. The details are fantastic and great photography, too. Did you machine the wheels yourself, or did you outsource that?
  14. 2:10 5:6 11:4 1:3 14:2 17:1 There are some really strong entries in this competition.
  15. Nice work! Really pushing the limits of the boundaries!
  16. This is a beast in the performance department. The ground clearance is huge, it climbs a curb without trouble. Excellent work!
  17. Very interesting, I'll be keeping an eye on this. Will it fetch a beer once it's complete?
  18. If anyone wants to use my PSD file with the box art, it's available at http://instructions.busterhaus.com/boxart.zip

  20. I'm finalizing the entry. Model A dimensions are estimated: 17 wide 32 long 12 high 6518 cubic studs Model B dimensions: 17 wide 34 long 15 high 8670 cubic studs Leftover parts: I also took better pictures of the B model. The ones posted earlier had terrible contrast. I also made the video presenting both models. It's got a bit of material that has been seen before, but with much tighter editing. I still have a couple of things to wrap up and then I'll put everything in the official entry topic.
  21. Both models are very strong entries. I like the looks and functions of both.
  22. This was my first thought. Sandwich tracks between two sets of large turntable pieces and you've got quite a large wheel.
  23. Thanks for not making the bounding box a requirement Jim. I didn't take a picture of the A model with the bounding box and now it's torn apart. Luckily it's much smaller than the 10k limit. I'll take a picture of the B model, as it's larger and close to the limit.
  24. The forklift is excellent. It looks and performs like an actual set. The only thing I would change is the steering lock - real forklifts can turn almost on a dime.
  25. I really like all the features you have on both models. The pieces you picked don't overpower the scale of the models, which is very nice. By the way, if you remove the s from https:// the video will show up in your post.
