I'm not sure how I missed this when it was posted. Very nice application of Mindstorms, the latest picture shows some nice paths. The light underneath gives it a very cool effect! Any plans to make it move in straight lines?

This is a very well done build. Nice functions and a very eye catching color scheme. -
Testing Poll without Google Ads
BusterHaus replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Works for me, voted, vote was counted, could see the results. Firefox with uBlock Origin (ad blocker) on Windows 7. FYI the poll you made a few days ago didn't work for me. -
Robot to follow me
BusterHaus replied to Caters's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sounds like an ambitious project. I would split it up into two stages. The EV3 expansion set allows you to build a stair climbing robot - you can use their instructions or build something similar to it. As for the follower function, the color sensor has a very short range, so you (or your color sample) would have to be very close to the robot to be detected. The ultrasonic sensor would be the better option, but it also has limited range, although it is better than the color sensor. The problem with using this sensor is that it can't tell the difference between your leg and a wall, so you'd be limited to using it in open, clear areas. The sensor would also need to sweep the area to find your position, limiting the speed at which you can walk. The best solution is to indeed use the infrared sensor and beacon. The robot does a sweep, locates the target and drives to it. The cycle is then repeated. You can probably incorporate the follower function into the stair climbing robot. -

@Jim I used an image with Lego examples, not an image from the cartoon or other toys. -

It is a Lego message board, after all. -
This is great! It's relaxing to watch and the tests with the upper and lower limbs were very interesting. The tires are looking a bit worn in the screen capture of the second video.

Hi, welcome to Eurobricks! This is one huge MOC, it looks pretty impressive. Could you please link the video? I have a feeling that pictures alone don't do it justice.

You can use an adder mechanism based around a differential, although I'm not sure if it will give you much benefit.

Your Best Technic Bargains
BusterHaus replied to Kumbbl's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Costco has very good prices, but their selection is abysmal. However, I did notice that Amazon has the same prices as them, which got me wondering if TLG hasn't started to artificially inflate prices just to make the actual price seem more attractive. The BWE, Xerion and Volvo excavator are very nice sets, and I can't imagine that they sell poorly, but they have been permanently under the MSRP at both Costco and Amazon. Now we get 42070, and everyone's first complaint is the price. I'm curious to see if it will also be permanently discounted. This being said, I'll wait for more data before declaring this an official pricing strategy. -
Very nice build, Paul. I like the detailed stickers and the mixture of pneumatic and mechanical actuators. Any chance of seeing the insides and/or the underneath?

Even worse, he can put it up as a prize. Thanks for the review, @Sariel - it feels like you took one for the team here.

Working electric guitar
BusterHaus replied to Davidz90's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This project needs more love from everyone. It's very well done. The string on the back is a very clever way of balancing the tension of the front string. Does applying pressure on the back string change the notre being played? -

Get well soon Clive, you can memorize the instructions in 6-8 weeks if you are looking for things to do. -
Perpendicular gearage

If you need the foot and top platform to be parallel at all times add a second set of legs that pivot parallel to the current ones. You can use this classic for inspiration: Motor placement on a pivot point is not ideal - it will limit severely the amount of weight you can lift on the top platform. I would look at using a linkage or a linear actuator to move the two sets of beams. -

Yeah, I figured the 32L axle would flex. Your solution to make it more stable is very good, I like it because it's compact. However, it may get pulled apart with prolonged use - I hope I'm wrong about this.
