Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
blarghiflargh replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
So I looked over the last few pages and didn't see anything about this, hope it hasn't been posted. Amazon US put two Avengers: AoU sets for sale tonight(as well as Pirates 2015, Elves, and new City and Ninjago). http://www.amazon.co...r/dp/B00NHQFIRE Avengers Tower http://www.amazon.co...duct/B00NHQFMMU Iron Man vs Ultron The tower sold out quick but the IMvU set is still available. -
I'd really like these sets to start showing up at US retail... March 1 seems so far away.
-
I think it's going to be entirely dependent on how well Tower of Orthanc has been selling. It was selling out at Shop@Home pretty consistently around the new year and resellers seem to think it will have a high aftermarket value, but without actual numbers we can't know if it's a huge seller or just underproduced... I think it has a better than 50/50 shot depending on how the license works. A proper Minas Tirith set could fulfill a lot of LOTR-fans wishlist items...

New York Toy Fair is only a week or so away, perhaps we'll see it there. It's the best event to launch something like this for some time, though perhaps they might feel it'd compete for attention with their other new products and hold it back.

Wait, so -
41075 seems to have the technic tank tread 3873 in brown. Might be useful for steam punk projects? Does that sea green decorative fence piece also in 41075 come in any other colors or is it new? So many great parts in that set... really imaginative build too.

US Shop@Home finally updated with Pirates theme page. Release date March 1, plus prices: http://shop.lego.com...S/Pirates-Theme

You could've said the same thing(and many did) about Scooby Doo! I think the perceived poor sales of the LOTR/Hobbit sets would be more of a deterrent than what another company did with a license.

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
blarghiflargh replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
It cracks me up about the idea that new molds are so expensive TLG needs to raise prices to pay for them, when apparently bootleggers can make their own pretty good new molds like that Galactus helmet and still make a profit selling for almost nothing. Of course they save millions on the licensing :P -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion
blarghiflargh replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well, we do have a zombie pirate in this batch, that's pretty close to Ghost Pirate... The fly seems like an easy thing to do, they could repurpose a head from Galaxy Squad. Still, there's 5 slots left open, maybe we'll get something a little more to your tastes. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion

What other classic monsters were you expecting without getting any rehashes? In previous themes and CMF waves we've gotten werewolves, vampires, a gorgon, zombies, Frankenstein's monster(s), gillmen, a minotaur, invisible man(in Ultra Agents, but still), mummies, mad scientists, and presumably a few more types in Scooby Doo like the Headless Horseman. That covers almost everything. Not trying to challenge your negative opinion which you are welcome to, just wondering what else they could have done? I see a lot of these fitting into mini-themes of their own. There's the costume-wearing humans. Then there's the teenaged monsters(presumably to go with Spooky Girl from CMF12). Then more general-purpose zombies. The Spooky Skeleton Man I have no idea... my first instinct was he looked sort of like a take on Cesare from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Actually it'd be nice if they had a Phantom of the Opera, that's a biggie they've missed thus far. -

Pirate Captain is a must... frankly I want the entire series. Wow. Also does the Tiger Girl's hair piece not look EXACTLY like 60s Batman tv series Catwoman? Hmmm.... -

15 minifigs... wow I hope this is true. Sounds like a lot for that many bricks though. -
DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions

I was skeptical until I actually did the mod. It brings the model to life. It's a very underscaled plane no matter what, but the forward-swept wings make it look a lot sharper in person. That picture isn't a good representation, really, you can't really tell until you hold the regular model then do the mod, it's night and day IMO. It takes a bland model that I was going to disassemble into one I'm keeping in my display. -

Agreed! I was iffy on the build but the backwards wings mod on the plane really makes it a nice little vehicle. -
LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Walmart clearanced the Ambush set last Fall. I expect it's about done. Battle has some life probably but I wouldn't speculate how much now that the final Hobbit movie has been released. I got nervous when Amazon ran out of stock of Battle around Christmas and only sporadically restocked, so shopped around a bit and got a good deal from TRU on Rakuten on it. Honestly I don't know how much life even the current wave has, it wasn't carried at any Walmart I've seen and had only a token presence at Target.- 7,499 replies

To be fair, that's not confirmation, it's really just some guy with a batman website spelling out his reasons why he doesn't believe it. I don't really believe it either, but I wouldn't expect anyone to just take my word for it either way. -

I just got Orthanc, and I have a question: does anyone know of a good turntable base for it or have a link to a LEGO-made turntable MOC for it(this might be dangerous)? I'd like to be able to see both sides. Seems a bit big to constantly be turning round otherwise.- 7,499 replies

The Javelin looks like a decently hefty build!
