Recently discovered in an almost forgotten corner of Petraea university, this painting by the yet unknown artist 'BC'. See Flickr (link in signature) for images without frame and background. I would like to claim the UoP credits for: Trees (1/3), Studs up rocks and cliffs.

Nice one. Was it more expensive to Bricklink the part than buying the used set? Just curious.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
BrickCurve replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Any thoughts on how well this fits GoH? https://www.flickr.com/photos/brickcurve/27480108263/in/photostream/ I was going to post it as a painting hanging in the University of Petraea. I went a bit crazy with photoshop! Edit, fixed broken link. -
If you work on the presentation and photography a bit more it will really improve how people see the MOC. Better lighting, a tripod, photoshop, any or all of these would really help. There is a new photography section in general discussion that has some good tutorials, I recommend having a look there.

[MOC] Lord of the Rings- Chasing Merry and Pippin
BrickCurve replied to samiam391's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Excellent scene! A bit more colour editing in the photo would really improve the presentation, if you use either Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop Elements, there is a de haze function that would work really well here. -
Nice one, some slopes to fill in the gaps between the roof and the walls would go a long way to really improve the MOC.

List of Lego books?
BrickCurve replied to __________________________'s topic in General LEGO Discussion
It is possible that the main publishers of Lego related books, (DK, no starch press and another one I can't remember), have a list of the ones they publish on their websites. BricK link also have books listed in their catalogue, though I can't vouch for how accurate and complete it is- http://www.bricklink.com/catalogTree.asp?itemType=B . -
Very strange, I would try using a different browser, though I have never had a problem with Mac Safari and Firefox, I (back in my PC days), had some trouble with chrome and IE.

I would be hugely surprised if any one could say exactly what they would be doing in a year!

I did, which is why I asked the question. I had a quick look at the Wikipedia page which is much more enlightening. The question still stands.

REVIEW: 5004419 - Classic Knights Minifigure

Nice one, I particularly like how the rover is posed at an angle. Excellent parts usage on both models, particularly the wheels on the rover, that technique is new to me and it works really well. Also, that is a great use of a textured blanket! A side note, the rover picture is a little vignetted at the corners, which isn't a bad thing, it looks good here but the effect is a bit too close to the model.

Great scene, I really like the piano design. I think the tsar's face is a little out of context with the rest of the build- no ones mouth actually looks like that.

Also Gabe, don't forget UoP.

Thanks. Thanks, I was wondering if we were going to see an entry from the team you mentioned. Well, a Kaliphlin team is planned for next years summer joust, no idea who will be in it yet though, maybe there could almost be two Kaliphlin teams- if it was organised enough in advance... Thanks, thats something Kaliphlin specialises in- non european style architecture!

Thanks everyone! The tiled middle layer was something I was originally going to do but by the time the end of the competition was in sight there was no time time left to do and order. Yes that would make the foliage inside the walls rather incongruous! I added that underground section just outside the walls as it is mount to be a hidden part of the castle, dedicated to plotting the downfall of the desert king and persuading allies to join the cause. A rug! Thats exactly what it needed, oh well, next time then, hindsight is a wonderful thing. At some pins I hope to have a go at a really detailed interior, I just haven't had the time as of yet. Glad you enjoyed it, hopefully we will have a Kaliphlin team for next years summer joust as well.

Free Build Registration (5th Quarter, Deadline May 1st, 2016)

Simply amazingly! So many of the small details here are so well implemented, (that window design on the light blue building is a master stroke). The path design, side landscaping, wall texturing, door technique, the white and light blue details near the arch, vines, garden beds, roof technique and story line each add up to an amazing build! If I was forced to find an error with such a great build, it would have to be the square part at the front of the irregular base, it looks a bit out of place when compared to the more natural looking, angled sections of the base.

The Elemendi-Chapter 2-A Meeting in the Shadows
BrickCurve replied to Kayne's topic in Guilds of Historica
It looks excellent! I really like the detail of having the barrels suspended from the ceiling by the net, it gives it a very maritime feel. All the little details, from the wall and roof texturing, the lights and the tables and cutlery are top notch. It's a great pity that the lights on the ceiling stopped working, it would have looked really brilliant lit up. Also, really nice storyline. -
Nice one. I really like how you did the rune pattern on the wall.
-
Great build! I really like how you made the doorway and the string of flags. The orange tree is perhaps a little flat looking on top though.

Looks great from what I den see from the low resolution images. You aren't really meant to host I ages here, which is why the size is so small. Use an external service such as Flickr to store the full resolution images and then deep link them across. There are some excellent tutorials in the general discussion area of the forum if you need help.
