That's interesting... guessing that, were they to be moved around, Lewa's design would be given to Hahli. Lime like the Mahri, wide-eyed mask with a visor, slim legs and heeled feet look a bit feminine...

So, it's been mentioned that originally, the heroes for 2008's storyline were going to be the Toa Mahri in new bodies. Do you think the Toa sets would've been any different if they had been designing them with the Mahri in mind, or maybe that the Phantoka/Mistika are more suited to be the Mahri?

I'd be fine if the gears can lock. The problem with all the non-Hordika/Icarax sets with gears is that the arms flop around, leaving them unable to hold a pose.

How easy to you think it will be to mod away the gear functions? Will it benefit the sets, or leave them looking unfinished?

Lewa first appears in Tale of the To, and has yet to reach Le-Koro. His chapter shows him making a journey towards it, since he doesn't have the information from the Turaga as to what he is. More like a Cordak Blaster that actually fires.

The question I have with Treespeak/Chutespeak was that it was developed as jargon among the chuteworkers. So how did Lewa, who had never been to Metru Nui, know it?

The Elda was hated because, while the eyes were fine, the tubing under the nose and on the chin looked like facial hair, and the entirely smooth top of the head make her look a bit like a bald guy with a mustache and a goatee. Then again, the Inika masks in general were horrible. And Gali's eyes look green to me too.

I can safely say that I never kept a single HF pouch. I binned them all. Meanwhile, I still have my canisters from 07-11, each of them filled with parts that won't fit in the rest of my storage.

A reboot makes more sense- it's the safest option for LEGO. The whole reason they cancelled Bionicle and replaced it with the simpler HF was because the story got too convoluted and hard to follow for new fans, and the old fans that the story was pleasing weren't buying sets, presumably because they were spending money on other things or getting sets for cheap from Bricklink and Ebay. Why would they ever up and say "Oh yeah, that's all canon too." No, the series will more likely be a reboot, because then it's Bionicle without the problems that killed Bionicle. Not Bionicle classic, nor Hero Factory, but a new idea with a familiar face, with the potential to surpass them both. People also seem to be getting confused between a reboot and a remake. A reboot is wiping the continuity and going wherever you so choose, and this is what we want. A remake is rewriting the continuity verbatim, or close to it, and that won't work.

A Genwunner is a fan who loves the early days of a franchise, and thinks everything after it is irredeemable dreck. THe term started out in Transformers fandom, as "Geewun!", since the classic Transformers lines are called G1. "Genwunner" as a name comes more from the Pokemon fandom, where Red and Blue are the objects of worship. We need a more Bionicle-flavoured version, I think.

I doubt "Krata" is anything to do with the Kraata. The latter were slugs, and also burnt to cinders by the Golden Armour in Journey's End.

White/Gold and Black/Gold a re pretty good colour schemes. Gold's a good colour for a set in that it goes well with basically everything else. In other news, those Toa are beautiful. And the Protectors are going to fuel by need for a 2015-style Jaller. Arthrons for everyone! Actually, speaking of Jaller and Arthrons, crazy random theory: The Protectors will represent the Matoran forms of the Mahri in the story, with remodeled versions of the Mahri masks to set them apart from the Toa. The Arthron, Jaller's mask, is just the only one with a complete CGI model yet. Ignika looks like a slightly modified version of the original render, so it'll probably be replaced with King Vultraz. The Toa are a thing of beauty. Getting Tahu and Lewa for sure.

I think Tahu will definitely be dual-wielding, and the weapons will probably be pearl gold, but whether they're the HF scimitars or a new blade piece that's suitably oversized (I can remember in Bionicle classic, all of the swords, even the dual-wielding ones, were BFSes) remains to be seen.

There's a lot of good ideas coming out of this thread, really. The idea of having a Toa team of the other elements that want the year's plot macguffin for their own reasons, which clashes with the Toa Mata would be awesome. We've had "Anti-Toa" before with the Piraka, but that always felt a little weak because Toa can absorb their own element. Using the other elements would work perfectly for that. Also, King Vultraz. It must be MOCed.

BioSHIPtember is more to give us something Bionicle-flavoured until the October reveals/leaks. Bioctober sounds awesome, though. I might be able to do something for that...

I doubt I'll be entering that, then, Bionicle-based or not. I'm awful at building anything much larger than a Toa. I shall instead look forward to the results.
