  1. Also, got to say, Steve Blum as Kopaka would be perfect, though I'd quite like to see (Hear?) him as whatever Teridax-equivalent this line has. Lee Tockar did a good job, but his Makuta voice was a bit over-the-top and generic, and I couldn't really hear him saying the sort of lines Teridax had in the later stories, when his nature as a calculating mastermind was revealed, as opposed to his original Generic Doomsday Villain/Evil Overlord role, nor can I hear him saying the things Terry said in MNOG.
  2. Scott McNeil played Tahu in MoL if I remember rightly.
  3. Australian Pohatu sounds awesome.
  4. Pretty sure Power Miners died faster than Bionicle. The IDW continuity began as a continuation of the Marvel Comics, not as its own thing.
  5. I can remember seeing a comment on DA that Lego would celebrate Bionicle's anniversary by lobbing a Kanohi out of the window for the fandom to squabble over. THe thing that finally gives us official confirmation? A Kanohi. The result? Squabbling.
  6. I like that idea, actually. I love the Mahri visors.
  7. I'mma be contrarian and say that I didn't really like the Mata Kaukau, at least on Gali. The trans plastic made it look dark blue, which broke the colour scheme. It looks fine on post-Metru blue sets, but not so good on Mata ones. I'd rather it be like Hahli's in the movie: Opaque mostly, which a trans visor area, kinda like the Great Rau mentioned above.
  8. The Southern Continent had one Turaga, Jovan, who died when the island broke off. I think the Turaga would've had more staying power as sets if they hadn't been made from "Just elders" to "stereotypical elders" in the movies. As I've said in other topics, the set form Turaga carried themselves upright, normally holding their staves by the end, and while they were wise and mysterious, they never gave the impression of being what we would call "Old". Come the movies, and they're pensioners who use their staves as walking sticks. While maybe they make sense in the story, "Old guy who tells stories" isn't much of a toy, and certainly not one that you can sell six variations of. Plucky action survivors who do their best to scrape out a living and fend off their more dangerous foes before the Toa arrive? Now that's something you can sell.
  9. I talked about Sarda and Idris in the original post. Furthermore, I don't have a problem with only getting four small sets. I have a problem with the fact that half of those small sets weren't characters, and as a result, Gar and Kyrehx, who were characters, have no representation. Not to mention that having Matoran in a large set didn't result in some of the smaller sets becoming Rahi in 03, nor did it in 08 and 09. That's probably because you can't really do much with what amounts to a moody cow with a gun for a tail, when the rest of your characters are vicious warlords with armies of much more dangerous animals, or powerful elemental warriors. Morak didn't even appear in the story at all.
  10. Lucky you. My trans blue ones have gone (The ones from Matoro Inika still hold up), so have my orange ones. I can kinda see that, except they'd had no qualms with releasing nigh-indentical larger sets for years.
  11. That just makes them decent as parts-packs. I like a set to be good in its own right, not just something to be bought and emptied into the bitz box. Also, remember, these were 07 sets, so those long "upper leg" bones would probably fall apart after one or two uses.
  12. Pretty sure they're pearl silver on the Hydruka, and pearl silver on Nuparu Inika from the previous year too.
  13. Who remembers these guys? They formed the second pair of small sets from 2007, and I have to admit that I never got either of them, so I can't really say anything for their build quality. What I can say is that they had no recoloured parts, no new parts, and, story-wise, no personality. They were just Rahi. I can't help but think that they weren't a good choice for the sets. 2007 had, in all likelihood, the best Matoran design. The only real hinderance was the use of Mata arms to allow for the shoulder-blaster, and in fairness, with the parts available at the time, they couldn't have done better (I find that Metru forearms and CCBS limbs can do the trick nowadays). Good designs, nice parts usage, great mask recolours, and they looked much more like upscaled versions of the classic body style than the Metruan did. However, we only got four small sets, and then two of them weren't Matoran. Sure, we got more Matoran later, Sarda and Idris, but they were only available in a larger set, and somehow only got one mask recolour (Was it too much to ask for a blue Huna and a red Ruru?), and were the same colours as the two Hydruka, leaving us without a small Onu-or-Ko-Affialated set for the year. To make matters worse, there were two Matoran characters, Gar and Kyrehx, who didn't get sets, but had small, but important roles in the story. And instead we get these two. All I can wonder is... why?
  14. THere are green ones too. They're often depicted in green in merch. There was a green one to scale with the standard action figures, a green titanium series one, and a green one in the Home One set.
  15. They could be making a continuation. They could be making a reboot. They could be the same Toa Mata. They could Legacy Characters. The Defenders/Guardians could be Matoran. They could be Agori. They could be something new. They could be working with the Toa. THey could be opposing both Toa and Spiders to guard their masks. They could have the same Arthron lookalike mask. They could have unique ones. Lewa's element could be jungle now. This thread is nothing but speculation and wild mass guessing.
  16. Lego may officially release an online game next year.
  17. Those 08 Kaita are magnificent.
  18. I actually like the differing colours in the Kaita. It reminds me of combining mecha, and those are always cool.
  19. The gear system might work, but I think kids would probably be disappointed if they got a toy with a floppy arm. As was said earlier up the thread, the gears were there to facilitate the mask-knocking-off-game. Once the change was made to using axles instead of studs to keep the masks on, the gears became obsolete at best, a hinderance at worst. As I said, I found the gears detrimental to playing. The Bohrok couldn't hold a pose while I put one to reposition someone else. The 04 Matoran, Rahkshi and Vahki were really floppy. The Toa looked less like they were fighting and more like they were swatting at invisible moths, and that's not mentioning the fact that they were useless on Vakama and Whenua, who didn't use swinging weapons
  20. Uh... the sets have always been to scale with other sets within their own wave. Hell, everything from 06-09 is to scale with everything else from 06-09, bar the system playsets and Toa Mata Nui.
  21. We've seen the Element Lords. They're huge, and made of their elements.
  22. For some reason, I'm not actually that taken with the Matoran for once. It's probably the lack of individuality at this point, but I got nothing other than "Hello, conventiently multi-coloured Arthron-lookalikes!"
  23. Oh gods, who to pick... For the Matoran, my favourite was Tanma. He's a (comparitively) young and inexperienced leader, who has to fill the shoes of the lost leader, but does it without screwing up. For the Toa, Jaller. He was my favourite from 2003 onwards, and his Toa Mahri form looked awesome. Also, he lit a guy on fire underwater and suppressed a Nova Blast. He's awesome. For the Makuta, Icarax. He was an interesting character, a total badass, and he was The Starscream, one of my favourite archetypes. For villains over all: Teridax. Basically my favourite villain ever. For other characters: Ignika. I liked the mix of godlike power and naivete. But my favourite overall character: Matoro. Just... Matoro.
  24. Bionicle: Awesome colour scheme, great pieces and design. I missed out on so many others... HF: Only got Nebby, and he sucked, so nothing. Vehicles: She counts, damnit! Great function, could seat more than one figure, had a significant role in the story, what's not to like?
