  1. Thanks Ryan for the instructions. I can see why it did not get up now. While a very good build a chunk of the 4000 parts are large and would have brought the set in quite expensive retail wise. I do love the build so i see myself accumulating the parts.
  2. Opens on the 28th of January :-)
  3. Yes the car park was half full the other day which was not normal. Given that most of the large rides are not going still will be a factor to this. I think the only thing that will cure the problems is time and financial investment in renewal of the park. I think the lego store will be a major attraction regardless of park numbers as you can access it from the outside without entry to the park and it is unique to Australia, and yes the investors would not be happy but they are most likely the owners of Dreamworld. I don't think Dreamworld is too far gone but i think they have a road to travel to get consumers back. My wife for instance says she feels nervous now going to any of the parks and i would say a few people feel the same way.
  4. Unfortunately this was delayed due to the sad circumstances that occurred at Dreamworld. Luckily it will open this month. My wife said she had read rumours that it would not open so i had to find out for myself. We took a drive past and you can see a large store has been built and branded. I then contacted Dreamworld to ask the question and the response came back that the store will definitely open in January. I think my first purchase from there will be assembly square .
  5. I have no problem with upping the price. Where are the rules in business prices need to be static. I also don't think it will be be the minority purchasing. I will guess it will be around 75 to 80% of AFOLs that collect modulars will buy it regardless of price but there will be less multiple set purchases as well. They could sell 40% less sets and it still be profitable as the smaller set due to the larger sell price. Lego is a toy but it is also a business. If they think the can make more profit from releasing a larger set while selling less volume (its only natural they will sell less volume as it is less affordable) then they will go for it. I think lego will be using this to test the market as there is a lot of call from AFOLs for large modular sets and we all know this will come at a higher price.Simple economics. if it is as profitable or more profitable then it will continue in the larger format. It also opens the door to two tiers of modular buildings or even more than one release a year if there is enough demand. People have to make there own decisions as to wether the value is appropriate for them and wether they will spend on the building. Value is different for everyone. I brick linked all the early ones at about 4 times the cost of RRP on release and thought it was appropriate. I am another who did not purchase Ghostbusters as i deemed it not appropriate value for me.
  6. get a picture of the building you want to replicate. decide scale and base plate size Decide colour. Start building in LDD or similar or if you are like me and prefer bricks, get yourself a heap of bricks in the colour and type you like and start building. Get the main structure in place and then i will normally order more bricks for the finer details as i have better idea of what i need.
  7. Because someone internally would not care if it was the latest ,yes it would be available but people on internal presentations care less about that sort of stuff than something released externally which would be done by the marketing team. I think if someone was trying to make something fake then they would go for the three latest. Read what you want into it
  8. To me the page looks like its from an internal powerpoint presentation. Hence why no brick bank. I think the info combined with the Brickset listing and timing make it the best lead so far. Excitement is building. BRING IT ON
  9. It won't be large but who's to say where inspiration comes from, there is nothing with borrowing inspiration with pride, even though it is always going to be a smaller format due to it needing to be a retail set, it still may be packed with detail though.
  10. Looking forward to this. the anticipation is building as we get closer to finding out. I wonder if the early rumours have some truth with it being a 32 x 32 base plate with an extra 16 x 32 base plate. They did say inverted corner though. Interesting.....Maybe LegoSjaak has influenced the builders into putting a square into production due to the overwhelming positive response to it....we will see.
  11. As an aussie i always look to Germany as i find the rate is comparable to package within Australia which is great and the price per piece is good normally as well. Aussie sellers are dearer but for small orders that fit an envelope it is still worthwhile. The only negative is that two to three weeks is the normal delivery time.
  12. I really like the fridge .It so reminds me the 2 bay (8 foot) units you see in so many stores here in oz.
  13. I have to disagree. I bought mine at 30% off at Myer in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday at the end of a couple weeks of it being in stock at the discounted rate. I agree with others that you are choosing /making excuses not to buy or so you can beat a drum. The reason Myer don't range it all the time is because no one buys it from them at full price and because of the high value it ties up in cash hence why they run out of stock .They run the 30% off sale at the end of the initial sale period to clear out as much inventory as possible and do this at the end of each major toy sale event. If you want a case study as to what happens if you don't have good cash flow have a look at Dick Smith. There is a pattern if you don't want to pay full price and that is it is exclusive with Lego online for 6 months, soon to be available at the only lego store in Australia next year as well at RRP (Dreamworld on the Gold Coast). Myer will range for the mid year toy sale and then again around in November in time for the Christmas sales. In my area Myers stock levels have been increasing all the time and you don't have to line up like you used to to rush in early to get the three sets they may order. All in all i cannot blame Myer for their behavior as to me it make complete business sense to behave in this manor. No retailer wants dead stock sitting on the shelf as it hinders investment in the business and new stock.
  14. Interesting speculation at brick picker is for a hospital but it does not seem to be getting much of a run here. Although four stories would be far fetched on the current trends, probably more like wishful thinking.
  15. It would have been nice if you even went to the trouble of posting a picture here first. BTW when i clicked your link the site was down for maintenence .
  16. Nice build . It shows you don't need a million pieces and a heap of snot work to be innovative , you just need a good idea.
  17. While it may be ok for some people, i think the quality is quite poor from the pictures. I can't get my head around the visual look of all the layers and i think i would personally just pay the full amount for the real product which i have done recently. While it hurt paying $30aud per straight at the time i have forgotten about it now and enjoy watching my mono rail go from point to point. "The poor man pays twice"
  18. As usual a really nice build in this style. You have gone all out using Brick with groove in Sand Green .
  19. Great build. I really like the wallpaper, hey I'm an aussie and green and gold are our olympic sporting colours. I also love the drain pipe and the use of a column piece for a lamp shade.
  20. I think there is a lack of detail on the exterior. There is no depth to the windows/doors and the over all facade is very flat. Most modulars have used Jumpers to offset the windows doors half a brick. It also lacks in colour / height variation to give it contrast and interest. Do a search for natural history museum - creator expert and look at this lego ideas project. This building was a 10 out 10 from my perspective and got reviewed and rejected. The interior is better but you have fully detailed areas with tiles etc and other areas you have left. I think this needs to be consistent. The top rail where the stairs is, is just bricks stacked two high. You could have this rail a bit more detailed. I don't like that the double doors on either side of the ground floor are not consistently coloured. Good starting point and good idea, keep at it .
  21. I don't think the train will have power functions but i think it will have a loop. They will put the money into the build, that way supplying a better overall looking product and also enabling the upselling (would you like fry with that) of the PF set as well.
  22. Not sure if this topic is elsewhere. I did not find it in a search. Australia will get its first Lego certified store later this year. It will be located at Dreamworld just north of the Gold Coast and will be 350 sq meters. including PAB wall. I personally am stoked as i would have thought Sydney or Melbourne for sure would get a store first.
  23. That is the wonderful thing that we all want differing things. From the image provided i think the disney castle looks great, although not modular. Where as the the palace of Versailles would be very square and be very repetitive so would have very little appeal to me although would make a great model/modular. Either way i don't think there will ever be a castle in this line.
  24. You might just get your wish sooner than later. The Disney castle is coming, rumoured to be 4000 plus Pieceshttp://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=122532
