As always nice MOC ,I like the 7 wide, but i agree with GallardoLU that the length needs to be a bit longer.
-
I really like it and have bought three sets. Made two longer trains and will use them as my subway trains. The rest of the bits went in the parts bin.

I like the art deco feel in such a wee build ,pun intended . There are plenty of pubs with the urinals (although you do need some rust stains) as such and a single bar so these are not issues for me. I like the build and the format is consistent with the rest of your street. Brick on and ill keep watching......

Cool i really like this.

I disagree. With scale of modular buildings you are only going to get one station at best the "city" will be 20 houses wide at best. Scale is definitely is out the window when we talk trains verse city size every time. Yes you are correct there is a cost but you also double your space and add depth to the layout. Personally i am going with one underground station with 4 platforms and above will most likely be 2 platforms or none. This is yet to be decided. One underground train will just loop from one platform to the other once it passes out of sight. I have left space for two lines behind the station to run longer distance trains past and around the entire layout and maybe up to the street level eventually.

In a 16x 16 grid it will be very stable. I am spreading my cross supports further (going to try 32 studs) in one direction as i think it will take it and for easier access of man hands. The bigger it gets the more stable it seems to be.
-
i think it would be stable,my girders are 13 or 14 high. It depends on how often you run Girders across,I am going to experiment a bit as i widen the Girders, just waiting on parts for expansion. I am going to trial 1 girder every 24 studs instead of the doubles as this should halve the price. I am going to keep the across thickness at 2 studs but long ways cross beams 1x16s at 1 wide. I think this type of grid will work for 20 high. When my bricks arrive (they left Germany yesterday) i can build it 20 high and see what works and what does not.

No the modulars don't need anything to hold them except there own weight, once the road is in front though it will stop them from moving forward (brick built and offset a little) movement and sideways ,well it would take a lot of force to move them that way. Yes it is working out pricey. mainly the 1x16s,the technics are the worse so i am trying to steer away from them now but it is just the sheer volume (i may trial some 2x8s for strength). I picked up 260 arches for 6 cents each and most of the 2x2 and 2x4 from pick a brick walls when in the U.S but need a lot more. If you steer towards bricks instead of columns it will be cheaper and easier to source and i will probably look for a cheap 1000 or so 2x2 bley bricks to move this along. If it works out at the same price a s a couple of modulars then i suppose it is not that bad.

I have started something similar.I have used 4x5 arches on top of the girder bricks and connected with 16x1s in a grid.No bricks around the girder at the bottom as it is unnessasary as when the grid starts to build up it is very stable. I have capped with tiles and left the modulars on baseplates. Due to thier weight they don't move at all and are easily removable. I will try and post some pictures later. Just some suggestions. I will swap out the girders with 2x2s as i think they look better and are easily available in large quantities at reasonable prices where as the girders are not. I will have to add a row of height to accommodate a brick built road when i get to it.

Dirtiest toilets i ever have been too were at La Spezia Centrale glad you did not do a replica of this.

Town Hall and Palace Cimema. Also got three hundred bucks in Myer vouchers which will cover the two train sets i wanted as well.

Really nice build, grand building ,nice details like the station name and the train on the overpass, love the busy-ness of the cafe. Love the finer details on the platforms and your departure boards. As i am currently building a station from subway up it is timely to give me ideas for that extra detail.

Green Grocer - Don't own but i love the facade, will build in blue due to the 2x1s with the slot being $2.50 each Cafe Corner - Another i don't own again i love the facade and the fact it was the first and created the standard. Grand Emporium - The first modular i bought,i just love the outside facade even though the interiors bland. Pet Shop - Still in its box but once again i love the facade. Parisian Restaurant - Though smaller still a very nice building. Love the techniques used for the roof. Fire station - Another i don't own but will buy next year. Town Hall - Still in its box but size does matter a bit bland. Palace Cinema - Still in its box but just a different style from the others and i don't like it as much. I don't like the actual theatre part of it it is a little childish. Market Street - Ugly building, that said i am currently brick linking the bits as extras when i order parts for my subway that i am building. The completist in me means i will get all the buildings although GG and CC will need to be modified as some of the parts are ridiculous in price but i can live with some of the mods people have posted.

LOL that is funny as it could be true. I am not sure i came out of my dark ages with the PR bought from Myer around April this year. I am not sure if they had stock in Jan though but they seem to only get a pile of modulars with each sale event and you have to get in on day 1 to buy one. David Jones at Chermside is hopeless and i have never seen a modular there yet.
-
I am hoping Myer have a 20% off sale in Jan and get stock of the DA at the same time.

Love the table and lists build. Lots of great ideas.

Yes the last pic is an improvement to the proportion. If you use white cheese slopes on top of grey plates above all second level windows i think it would be smick.
-
I really like the facade. From the front view it looks like you need a row of red/white bricks above the top windows to make it a little more in proportion. You have them above the lower floor but not the top. edit. I notice they are there but they are white. Have you tried them in the red(middle brick and the plate? Thats if you didn't want to add another row.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Wookiee replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I just picked up TH,PC and PS, I only have a couple others and one brick depot one ,those i have kept as is but since i am in to cinema (i have one here in my house i am going to mod the PC as it really is crud in terms of a cinema, The fact it has windows in the viewing room really annoys me as well as the lack of seats (i have seven recliners in mine and that at a house) i think i will go along the lines of an earlier post and not make it a corner and make it most of the upper level with stadium style seating.,add speakers and wall sconces to the side walls etc. Detective agency i will pick up in January and i am slowly brick linking market street and blue grocer with cafe corner to be last as i am a completest. Not really into the back story of the detective agency but the building is ok. The next Modular i would not mind being a newspaper publisher with reporters and printing press etc. I don't think we will get a police station next. -
As usual a great looking Building with a great interior My only critique would be it is very bland on the rear. Light fitting and maybe a plant would fix this. Like that you have used colours that are reasonably priced on BL.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Wookiee replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Grabbed my Town Hall from Oz lego site today due to all the scare mongering in this thread. Was going to pick it up in the U.S in a few weeks but thought i won't risk it for $40 bucks.
