I love the underside tree & your separator beast...although I think that might put you on the naughty list.

I’ve heard it’s quarterly, so I asked an employee when the quarter starts(for both the PaB wall & BaM tower). He said they fill it whenever it gets low & that’s about every week-week and a half. I imagine they get a bulk lot of parts then just pour more in whenever it gets low. But if there’s a desirable enough part where AFOLs grab ‘n go, I’m not sure how they handle that. May be worth a shot to go in on a slow day or if you can when they open to ask them specifics. Or someone closer to you may have a better answer than mine.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Vindicare replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Yeah, a museum(school as well) would definitely need the larger footprint to LEGO accurately realize those buildings. They just wouldn’t look as grand as they should be if stuck to the standard footprint. I think this would be a great contender for another shorter building. I was just talking about it being a two story one, all bookstore, with small cafe, inside. But since I doubt we’ll get a single use building again...and it’s just a one store bookstore I’d rather they leave out the cafe. Around here though all the larger bookstores have little cafes in them. I’ll throw that out there for the 16x32 split combo, one being a two story bookstore & the other being a slightly taller two story with cafe below & apartment above. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

It’s more broad than the name suggests. They’re most known for selling ice cream & other goods, which included a soda fountain. -
It can definitely be intimidating, but starting small & simple is a good course. I, slowly, started on my first a while back after seeing a window design I really liked years ago. I’ve built every Modular they’ve released, but a small one story store has been both tricky & satisfying, even though the building is about as simple as it can be.

Chinese New Year’s Sets 2020 - Rumours and Discussion
Vindicare replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
First, this reveal is a huge argument for not having leaks...because thus just sprang up out of nowhere & was quite exciting to see. As far as I know there wasn’t even a peep of these. These are fantastic! Everything about them is. The Lion Dance is the standout, that was always my favorite part of those celebrations. The details are great. That little drum toy that you spin in your hands is a nice accessory build & the new colors-White banana, red scarf & pumpkin- are also nice. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

If this turns out to be true, I hope it’s a return to a single use building(although I doubt that will happen). I’m seeing a two story building with a small cafe just inside the front doors....but that’s only because that’s exactly what the Barnes & Noble I frequent is like. We all know LEGO loves coffee. It has been a couple years since we got one though. -
I love it. Not exactly $120 love it. I like how they’re going back to their roots & doing one of, if not the most, iconic piece of their company. I feel like they’ve shot themselves in the foot a bit with this one. They’ve released so many great sets recently that I reckon are still on people’s to buy list. For that price I could get a lot of actual LEGO. I still need to get the new Slave 1. Or for a little more money I can get HS’s Shrimp Shack & Lloyd’s Titan Mech. If it were $100 or less, easy buy. Or if it were the duck, easy buy even at $120. Or if it was simply those bigger retailer minifigs that I’ve been wanting for years.

That looks great! Well done.

Great little build with an equally spooky light show. I loved the pictures in your slideshow, very creative.

These packs are definitely overpriced, but at the same time I think they’re worth it for all the new pieces & prints we get in them. Luckily, stores here regularly have most sets at 20% or so off, so I can pick this up closer to $30 than $40. Still need to grab this one.

Something like what Dengar’s speeder has in 75145 Eclipse Fighter would make for good controller sticks. Looks great, very creative.

They’re from the Taco Tuesday Guy from the CMF LEGO Movie series. I had to buy one, as I missed out on that minifig when it was out. Nope, it’s always just been the headgear at the two I frequent.
-
Yes. Some I took from other sets, I keep my baseplates separate from the pieces, or I buy the baseplates. You may be able to fond a decent priced lot of baseplates online too. That’s a good way to get a bunch.

Why are short-lived themes so good?
Vindicare replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I loved the short lived themes around 2012. They had some great offerings & minifigs. That’s very likely a great point. I could see this being possible. I think, overall, these short lived themes didn’t have a dud in the bunch(I’m speaking of the more recent themes). -
Just switching them to baseplates, either buy extra ones or use from other sets. I keep the pieces of my sets minus the baseplates together, so I have plenty of baseplates to use.

70423 Paranormal Intercept 3000 Going to un-Hidden Side it a bit, getting rid of the the ray gun, radar(possibly), and the stud shooters on top then place it with Welcome to Apocalypseburg. It also makes me long for a Ninjago City Bus...wah wah wah...

Looks like we need an emoji with a crown for all the drama queen AFOLs... I can’t believe the amount of whining coming for this theme from adults. Not liking it is one thing...
-
I’d rather have them on baseplates as they line up with the road plates. Sometimes they’re useful to break up the monotony of even pavement. You could tile the exposed plate & have them act as steps up into the building.
-
Absolutely. It’s a great build with a lot of interesting bits inside. Easily expandable as well.

Without knowing how big you’re going with it, for the smaller slant you could try using Ramp 6x8(as seen in 7936 Level Crossing).

Hidden Side VS Monster Fighters
Vindicare replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I’d have to say MF as well. The story of the theme, collecting all the crystals, was a nice touch. The minifigs(both sides) are excellent. The mix of the good guys makes the team more fun. Vampyre’s Castle & Haunted House are two amazing sets that are going to be hard to beat. HS has its charm, I quite like the head/parts swapping to make the city folk possessed. I don’t care much for the phone side of things(both app & in theme story). The sets are fun, though. I think they’re just different enough that it’s really difficult to compare them equally. -
Action packed! I love all the greenery. I like the yellow window section, is that 2x2’s & 1x2’s? Looks great.
-
That’s always tricky though. We don’t know what will hit clearance & what won’t. But I sorta feel your pain. Patience is a virtue(and a money saver). But it was something I wanted & didn’t want to risk missing, so the original price wasn’t so bad. Plus, it has a lot of nice parts-all that food!
