Are "Big Bang Themes" a Bad Strategy?
Vindicare replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
We had Chima, Nexo Knights, and Elves as well, which all ran for multiple years. We have Monkie Kid this year. Which is a shame. I have 6 sets so far & I haven’t done a thing with the app, I couldn’t care less. The sets don’t lose a thing from not using it. Nitpicking, those color wheels were only slightly annoying, but that’s an easy enough change. -
Well, at least one did. 10273 Haunted House has a VIP early release.
-
And cancelling this set ignores all the voices who wanted this set. Those voices didn’t get their opinion heard, just those against it. And it’s happening to many products. It’s setting a bad precedent, giving in like this. It may not happen often, but it will happen again. This is actually it happening again. A similar occurrence with 9515 Jabba’s Palace took place.

So you’re both saying that throughout the entire design phase, testing phase, and all else that goes into making a set, of which there was clearly not a problem, TLG suddenly awoken from their stupor two weeks before the set was due to be sold? This was not a mistake made. This was not TLG doing anything wrong. This was a small percentage of a whiny group of people who took offense to a set apparently because of a license name on the box.

It wouldn’t be any different from all the easily identifiable costume minifigs, or the girl with the bike, Batman with dolphin. I’ve felt minifigs a few times during this at both Target & Walmart. I just wash my hands when I get home. No problems so far. Friend & I do plan on buying a box though & splitting. Which we did last year as well. It’s great to have an accurate colored Goblet. Hard to really tell, but I don’t think it’s oversized, it’s pretty big in the movie. I agree about the Cup though, the set one is perfect. But it is nice to have a more proper handles. The AC looks fantastic. The trees are a bit redundant, but I like the gramophone & other musical related items. Minifigs are of course great, that gives without saying. Using Harry in the Calendar could be recreated to make a decent Davies for Fleur.

Oh, that would be, dare I say, fantastic. We are getting the Potions book from Year 6. Tales of Beetle the Bard would be another fun one to get. There’s some. B&N has a preorder for Hedwig, and only that set, with a release date of Sept. 1st. Whether that extends to the rest of line, only time will tell.

I do. Almost every morning before I read this thread, especially if there’s a lot more pages than the previous days.

LEGO Hidden Side 2020
Vindicare replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ditto. Of the handful of sets I bought, they’re all great. The minifigs have all been fantastic & the possession aspect is a fun one, getting regular heads & possessed heads, among other additions. I’m hoping to at least grab the fire truck & castle. -

End of an Era on LEGO CMFs reviewing for WhiteFang
Vindicare replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
What a bummer! I always looked forward to your reviews, I always enjoyed the added pictures of like minded characters from other series’. And yours was the first(and usually only) review I read. Your reviews will be greatly missed. -
Because they’re AFOLs? Pretty obvious don’t you think? Maybe they already have a real one & they also think the set is great. Or, like me, they’re bit by nostalgia & like the TV & scrolling gameplay feature.
-
Any guesses on what the back sticker references are? Model Number is obvious. And the “Made in Japan” one. Serial Number though...and the letters/numbers in the lower part are I’m guessing designers of the set.
-
Tell me about it...just as I had myself convinced on buying the NES when it comes out, this leak hits. Saving for HP has largely been the priority. I guess I may have to get Diagon Alley later than I planned. Fortescue looks more great. I certainly hope he isn’t just a pedestrian. At least having a stall would be nice.
-
That price is a bit unfortunate(S@H has it listed at $229.99)...but what else is new with LEGO? This is better than I thought. That scrolling feature is just awesome. I’m trying to tell myself to skip this for now, because I do want to get HP D2C day one...but I’m likely going to grab this. It hits my love for real world items built to scale.
-
Come on LEGO! I’m trying to save money for all the HP stuff this year... This looks awesome. Something I definitely want to get. And if they expand it into other levels(and other games even) that would be amazing. Having them be expansion packs wouldn’t be cool. Although possibly tricky, as on their own they may not be too sellable. They could make them similar enough to those old mosaics. They could be fun little shelf pieces of old games.

It’s such a fun set & a great build. If you can, I highly recommend grabbing it. It would make a fine companion for your dog.

This is great all around. The little scene you built around the mech is nicely done & the mech is fantastic. After seeing the Scuttler, this is something I could see Batman using. That mech is quite formidable looking...that’s a very brave dog.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
Vindicare replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It looks like things are ramping up, both B&N & a local toy store have Series 20 for the first time. -
This is great! I love the little dock outside around the building. The interior has some nice details. The tables using waffles & tires, the arcade. The whole lower floor is really quite cool. I don’t know about that dark, creepy walk down the stairs though. with all that green stuff in the water, staying inside is probably a good idea.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Vindicare replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I guess those prices came from a YouTuber, but there’s no way that’s true. Cloud Jet is $60, has 4 minifigs & 529 pieces. There’s no way a bigfig adds that much to a set. I just can’t see that, despite the price of some of the current sets. -
I did. I’ve only made my way through part of the book, but it’s the usual fare. Of course the minifig is amazing, such a great print. I did find it odd that they labeled CMF Harry with Hedwig as Year 4, while Ron is labeled as Year 3. I suppose they could be either or both though. Year 1 & 2 Harry has short legs.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Vindicare replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Like most, those demons are fantastic, as is the Spider Queen. I’m not entirely in love with the Speed Boat(not that that has really stopped me from buying sets). But I really want Sandy & Mo, so I’m sold on that set. This theme is quite the knock out...in many ways. The sets are great, minifigs are amazing, new parts & prints are top notch. And it’s also going to be quite the knock out to out wallets. -
This has been a fun glimpse into your collection...and it’s only just gotten started.
-
Wow! Wow! Wow! It’s amazing. You’ve captured it about as well as any I’ve seen, short of the big time overboard builds. The non official additions are great, the Viaduct & courtyard. And I like how you squeezed the statue in there.

LEGO Hidden Side 2020
Vindicare replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I would definitely recommend Welcome to the Hidden Side, even just for the minifigs alone(all exclusive). The build is pretty cool too, so worth it in that regard as well.
